This is just a list of introductions and changes in Pokémon Game Series past Generation 5. This might help those who want to upgrade their Game from Generation 5 to include all other Generation things (Features, Pokémons, Abilities, etc). Taken help from Bulbapedia, Serebii and by playing these Games myself. No credits. If you are too desperate, credit me for typing these long bunch of texts.

01. New Mechanics in Generation 6 (XY)

- Explore a new region, based on France- Kalos Region.
- The addition of 72 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 721.
- The addition of 62 new Moves, bringing the total to 621.
- The addition of 27 new Abilities, bringing the total to 191.
- The introduction of the Fairy type to balance out the Dragon, Poison, and Steel types.
- Completely three dimensional environment, as well as new 3D battle system with 3D models for Pokémon as opposed to 2D sprites.
- The ability for the player to walk in an eight directional grid as opposed to the four directional grid that has been common in all the preceding games.
- A new battle mechanic, Mega Evolution, which can only happen during a battle and will wear off once the battle ends. This is only available for certain Pokémon.
- Three new battle modes:
- A new battle mode called Sky Battles, where only certain Flying-type Pokémon, or those whose Ability is Levitate can participate.
- Another battle mode called Horde Encounters, where multiple wild Pokémon will engage in a battle against one of the player's Pokémon.
- The third format is known as an Inverse Battle, which completely reverses type matchups.
- The introduction of ambush encounters, occurrences where wild Pokémon chase the player or jumping at them from a hiding place to initiate a Pokémon battle, somewhat similar to the phenomena mechanic.
- The addition of Super Training, a way to increase a Pokémon's EVs.
- The addition of customization for the player, with the ability to choose a variety of outfits to wear at any time.

- Mass outbreaks and phenomena.
- Mail and <player name>'s PC.
- The footprints in the Pokédex.
- A change in the types of three moves (Charm, Moonlight and Sweet Kiss). All formerly Normal-type, they are now Fairy-type.
- Pokémon can now evolve after a battle even if they are knocked out or if the player lost.
- Pokémon obtained in Generation VI have a blue pentagon on their summary screen.
- The player can no longer register screens, such as Pokédex entries.
- Various changes were made to the experience system:
- When multiple Pokémon participate in battle, each now gets full experience instead of a fraction of the experience.
- The experience formula no longer takes in account difference between Pokémon's levels.
- The Exp. Share is now a Key Item and gives experience to all Pokémon in the party that did not participate in battle.
- Experience is now gained after catching a wild Pokémon.
- Azurill can no longer transition from female to male upon evolving.
- When a named character speaks, the message box no longer starts with their name and a colon, except Double Battle trainers and in the Battle Chateau.
- Significant Trainers no longer speak in the middle of a battle.
- The battle music no longer changes at low HP or when a Gym Leader sends out their last Pokémon.
- The type chart has slightly changed from Generation V:

04. New Mechanics in Generation 7 (SM)

- Explore a new region, based on Hawaii- Alola Region.
- The addition of 81 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 802.
- The addition of 98 new Moves, bringing the total to 719.
- The addition of 41 new Abilities, bringing the total to 232.
- The addition of a new variant of Poké Ball, the Beast Ball, bringing the total to 27.
- The addition of a new Evolution stone, the Ice Stone, bringing the total to 10.
- Several Generation I Pokémon have a form unique to Alola known as a regional variant; this aspect of Generation VII is based on selective pressures which occur in the real world.
- The 3D models are refined, and Trainers can also be seen behind their Pokémon during battle.
- A new battle mechanic, Z-Moves, powerful moves that Pokémon can learn and perform once per battle.
- Two new battle modes:
- A battle that takes part between four Trainers called a Battle Royal, where each participating Trainer aims to defeat each other. The battle ends when all of one Trainer's Pokémon are knocked out, with the winner being the Trainer who has the highest combined number of knockouts and number of remaining Pokémon.
- A battle where wild Pokémon can summon allies to assist them called an SOS Battle.
- The introduction of Greninja's Ash-Greninja form, Zygarde's 4 alternate forms and 6 new Pikachu forms based on Ash's Pikachu.
- The introduction of the Zygarde Cube, an item that allows the player to collect Zygarde Cells and Cores scattered across the region to assemble their own Zygarde.
- The return of different overworld themes depending on the time of day, which was originally introduced in Generation IV.
- The addition of the Rotom Pokédex, a special Pokédex inhabited by a Rotom that doubles as a real-time map on the bottom screen.
- Certain NPC trainers may keep their Pokémon in Poké Balls other than the standard Poké Ball.
- The addition of the island challenge, a traditional rite in the Alola region involving trials guided by Trial Captains, battling Totem Pokémon, and battles with Island Kahunas.
- The addition of Poké Rides, which allow players to summon Pokémon that they can ride to access otherwise inaccessible areas.
- The addition of Hyper Training, a system that allows players to exchange special Bottle Caps to maximize the IVs of their Level 100 Pokémon.
- The addition of the Festival Plaza, a hub accessible from the menu that allows the player to interact with other players locally or via the internet, as well as access various shops similarly to Join Avenue.
- The addition of the Poké Pelago, an option accessible from the menu that allows the player to send Pokémon that are stored in a PC Box to various islands, allowing them to gather items, discover wild Pokémon, and even raise their levels and statistics.
- The player can now replace one of their party Pokémon with a newly caught Pokémon without having to use a PC.
- During a Pokémon battle, the bottom screen now displays a move's type effectiveness once the player has encountered the Pokémon again.

05. New Mechanics in Generation 7 (USUM)

- The addition of 5 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 807.
- The addition of three new moves (Mind Blown, Photon Geyser, and Plasma Fists) and six new Z-Moves (Splintered Stormshards, Let's Snuggle Forever, Clangorous Soulblaze, Searing Sunraze Smash, Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, and Light That Burns the Sky), bringing the total amount of moves to 728.
- The addition of 1 new Ability (Ultra Necrozma's Neuroforce), bringing the total to 233.
- A fleshed out Rotom Pokédex, including the Roto Loto feature.
- New hairstyles and clothing.
- The expansion of Ultra Space.
- The introduction of a new minigame: Mantine Surf.
- The introduction of the Alola Photo Club.
- The introduction of the Battle Agency, an addition to the Festival Plaza.
- The introduction of Totem Stickers, which the player can redeem to receive special, Totem-like Pokémon.

06. New Mechanics in Generation 7 (LGPE)
#-------------------------------
- Explore Kanto Region in a new 3D Switch Environment.
- The addition of 2 new Mythical Pokémon (Meltan and Melmetal), bringing the total to 809.
- The addition of 14 new Moves bringing the total to 742.
- The introduction of Partner Pokémon forms for the starter Pikachu and Eevee, both are stronger than their regular counterparts, can't evolve, and can be customized with clothes and accessories.
- Partner Eevee has a new gender difference, with the female having a heart pattern on her tail.
- Wild Pokémon now appear in the overworld.
- By catching multiple Pokémon of the same species and a row, the game will start a Catch Combo, which gives more items and experience, as well as having a higher chance of finding rarer Pokémon and shinies.
- The removal of wild battles, which are replaced by catching Pokémon similar to Pokémon GO.
- The implementation of motion controls. The Joy-Con is used to throw Poké Balls. In handheld mode, wild Pokémon are caught by aiming the Poké Ball with motion controls.
- The introduction of two-player simultaneous multiplayer.
- The return of Walking Pokémon, working as replacements for Ride Pokémon.
- Secret Techniques are implemented as replacements for HMs.
- Nicknames can be changed at any time.
- The implementation of the Pokémon Box, a replacement for the Pokémon Storage System that is accessible from the player's bag.
- The removal of Z-Moves.
- The Exp. Share effects are now present from the start of the game and cannot be turned off.

07. Mechanics Alterations from Generation 6
#-------------------------------
- An increase in one or more base stats for 26 Pokémon.
- Gengar has got its ability replaced with Cursed Body.
- The player can move freely in any direction in any area of the game, as opposed to the eight-directional grid of the previous generation.
- Several Pokémon can learn new moves upon evolution.
- Pokémon-Amie is replaced by Pokémon Refresh.
- The Player Search System is replaced and incorporated into the Festival Plaza.
- The abandonment of the following elements:
- Counting how many of each species of Pokémon the player has encountered.
- The National Pokédex, with Pokémon from outside the Alola Pokédex having no Pokédex entry at all.
- Horde Encounters, Sky Battles, Inverse Battles*, Triple Battles, and Rotation Battles.
- Super Training, O-Powers, and Poké Miles.
- Contest Spectaculars, Cosplay Pikachu, Super-Secret Bases, Mirage spots, Soaring, and the DexNav from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
- The Hall of Fame PC function.
- The experience formula once again takes in account the difference between the Pokémon's levels.
- A Pokémon's speed after Mega Evolution is used to determine the turn order, not its Speed before.
- The following status conditions have been altered:
- Burn now only removes 1/16 of the Pokémon's maximum HP instead of 1/8.
- Paralysis now decreases a Pokémon's speed to 50% instead of 25%.
- Confusion only has a 33% chance of making the Pokémon hurting itself instead of 50%.
- Moves can no longer be used outside of battle.

- Explore a new region, based on the United Kingdom- Galar Region.
- The addition of 81 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 890.
- The addition of 80 new Moves, bringing the total to 822.
- The addition of 29 new Abilities, bringing the total to 263.
- Several Generation I,II,III,V Pokémon have a regional form unique to Galar.
- The introduction of cross-generational evolutions exclusive to regional forms.
- A new open area with several landmarks and Pokémon, and connecting several towns, known as the Wild Area. Player can change the camera perspective in these areas.
- A new battle mechanic, Dynamax, which increases the size of a Pokémon and allows them to use Max Moves for three turns. Gigantamax expands on this mechanic by also changing a Pokémon's form and turning moves of a certain type into G-Max Moves.
- The introduction of several new forms for many Pokémon.
- The introduction of 70 new forms for Alcremie, the most forms a Pokémon has ever had.
- The addition of Y-Comm, which allows trainers to battle and trade Pokémon locally or online.
- The introductions of the Rotom Phone, which functions as a menu, and the Rotom Bike, an upgraded version of traditional bikes that can grant a speed boost and move on water.
- The introduction of cosmetic marks and titles.

- Due to this, the evolution methods of certain Pokémon are changed; those Pokémon now evolve by using an Evolution stone.
