4th Gen Pokémon movie cameos!

Those who have the Japanese version will notice that the Elite Trainers (Ace Trainers) in Route 229 have the names ダイアン (Diane) and バトラ一 (Butler). Any movie watcher in whatever country will know that Diane and Butler are the pair in the first Advanced Generation Pocket Monsters movie (Movie 6). Further, Diane's Pokémon are Mightyena and Kirlia. Butler's Pokémon are Dusclops and Salamence.

Apparently, Nintendo of America didn't get the joke, as the most familiar couple was renamed to "Felix" and "Dana". Goes to show you how much Game Freak collaborates with the Pokémon anime's studio, OLM, where Nintendo of America's translators don't seem to be in touch with the anime.

Really? I didn't actually notice that. I'll look next time I play.
That's actually really cool IMO, I saw the movie awhile ago but it didn't click on at all when I battled them.

XD, so the US version is Felix and Dana. But wouldn't they have noticed that the names were directly translate-able into English when they were translating...

True, Butler would be a weird name to have. But wasn't he also called "Butler" in the dub of the movie as well??
