FireRed hack: Pokémon Odyssey [Beta 3.5.4]

If you want that Pokémon, you'll have to start over :/

Anyway, I've released v3.5.2 to fix some bugs:
- Fixed a weird glitch regarding Nyx's overworld
- Fixed some crash issues with chests on myBoy.
Oof. Well, I didn't actually save yet, since I was waiting to hear back from you, so I won't have to start COMPLETELY from scratch, anyways. Thanks for the swift response. XD

What is this lottery event? Also when is the nature changer unlocked around?
Well, there's a sign next to the old man, just read it!
In order to change nature you have to unlock the island of Charon

Loved playing your game! It's a fantastic game to say the least; beautiful world, modern features, intermixing of some unique concepts, compelling story, good character development and last but not the least amazing regional variants. Great job mate! Eagerly waiting for the final release!

I just hope that in the next release you might consider giving us some good Ground type variant.

Wishing you luck!

I'm only at the Second Stratum, but I already love the custom sprites and characters, and I'm really intrigued by the story! I've run into a weird bug, though: My Regenerator Tangela's HP keeps overflowing, possibly when it's about to die, but I can't say for sure. In battle, it will sometimes get it, and then its HP will go all the way down before filling back up again. After a few times of this happening, I ended up with the attached HP value. (Pardon the bad picture quality; I play on 3DS.)

I've also had a few issues with the enemy AI. One trainer in Stratum One kept having their Beedrill use First Impression even though it wasn't the first turn, and Ranger Julia in Stratum Two kept having her Growlithe use Helping Hand while her Clefable used Follow Me.

All that aside, really enjoying this hack and looking forward to seeing what happens as I continue!

That's nice to hear! Anyway, we're currently investigating that weird Regenerator behaviour; we know it happens only if the Pokémon using it is in the second slot of your team (I don't know why) and we'll eventually fix it for the final version.
Trainers (except for bosses) have a dumb ai, so that's intentional, but I'll see what I can do to fix that specific case.

Much appreciated!

Is a living dex possible in 3.5 ? If not, will it be in final release
Nope, but it will be possible in the final version!

Hey PacoScarso, I'm really enjoying your game and I love the Etrian Odyssey content! However, I just want to suggest 3 things to be implemented in an update:
1. Mightyena has Fur Coat as an ability, which I love, but its stats doesn't fit the ability - 80 Defense is too much in combination with Fur Coat, whereas 60 Special Defense is pretty low. Now look at Furfrou's stats, the introducer of Fur Coat - 60 Defense and 90 Special Defense. So I suggest exchanging Defense and Special Defense!
2. Swalot can usually learn Stockpile on level 30, but not in this game, even though it would be its best stat boost: Swalot has equally high Defense stats, so you definitely want a boost for both of them. So I suggest letting him learn Stockpile somehow, either per level up or move reminder!
3. Relicanth usually can't learn Aqua Jet, but it can in this game, although it's not longer a water type and doesn't get STAB. So I suggest giving it Shadow Sneak instead to get STAB! ;)

Hey, I'm happy to hear that!
  1. I've already thought about that and there's a huge problem regarding that change. Fur Coat Mightyena equipped with Assault vest would be too busted, considering that it already has decent speed and atk.
  2. I can see why you want it to learn Stockpile, buuuuut Filter Swalot is already the best tank in the entire game, now imagine it with Stockpile.
  3. That's fair, I think I'll do it in the next update!

1. I mean, you're right about the Assault Vest, but to be fair, it can't use Howl that way and I love playing with Howl in double battles. ;) However, what about setting its Defenses to an equal level, namely 70 both?
2. I mean, you're also right, but can't that problem be solved otherwise? Honestly, I wouldn't care, if normal Swalot wouldn't be able to learn Stockpile, but it's even kinda it's signature move! I remember being introduced to Stockpile through Gulpin and Swalot. So what about reducing its stats a little or maybe nerfing the Poison type a little? I mean, I use the type effectivenes editor to play with my very own type matchups whenever I can, so basically just for Firered Hacks, so my Poison type is a bit weaker - it isn't very effective to water and although it is very effective to Aether, it doesn't resist it.
However, I basically completely reworked the Aether type to be a little like my own Fairy type, but without loosing your original intentions, I know, very nerdy. ;)
If you're interested, here are my Aether-matchups (I mean, I changed most types at least a little so it's kinda out of context): it's a tanky type, so it resists a lot, namely itself, the 4 elements Ground, Flying, Water and Fire, but also Electric and Ice. However, to balance this it has 3 weaknesses, namely Poison, Dark and Ghost or as I call it the Dark triad. ;) Now comes the interesting part: It's very effective to Dark and Fighting like the Fairy type, so Dark and Aether are very effective to each other and neither Poison, nor Ghost have a resistance. Instead Grass, Psychic (like my own Fairy type), Ice and itself have a resistance to it, so Ice and Aether are not effective to each other. I just love it, when types are not or very effective to each other, so I've made the same to Ice and Water being resistant to each other and Ghost and Psychic being very effective to each other along with other changes. ;)
Sorry, for writing that much, it's probably boring, but I just love balancing Pokemon types in a way, that actually makes more sense than the original matchups imo.

No worries, it's not boring at all! Leaving feedback is always important, sooooo thank you! i'll think about everything you wrote

Version 3.5.4 is out! This will be the final hotfix before version 4.0 (GOD I HOPE SO).

Changelog:

  • Fixed some movement permissions in the 5th Stratum
  • Fixed some typos
  • Fixed a bug causing some... weird interactions during battle (I don't want to talk about this )
  • Barboach/Whiscash: Unaware -> Swift Swim
  • Sunkern/Sunflora: Added Chloropyll to its secondary ability slot
  • Slightly improved Regice's backsprite (I'll probably make a better one for the final release)

Last but not least, if you check the first post you'll notice I've added a 4th document regarding teambuilding. This will help the ones that aren't familiar with double battles and the competitive side of Pokémon. Said document will be expanded and upgraded later on.

What does this take from Made in Abyss? That show has some REALLY dark elements I don't think I'd be able to handle if they show up here too.

I've been loving this hack! Let me know if you need any help beta testing!

Hey, I downloaded the game a couple of days ago, lovely time so far.
I just have a small issue/bug that I cant find any info about. The mining point in the second stratum doesnt seem to be giving me the firestone I want, as in it says that I got a firestone but it wont show up in my inventory. Is this a known issue, or something specific to me? I have tried restarting the game but it still isnt appearing
Oh, your bag is probably full, that's why there's no fire stone in it
