Basically the question is how you'd like it if pokémon was also available for download in stores like the Android Market, the App Store & the Blackberry store.

I think it'd be great since pokémon would be available for more people, and it'd be easier to get. Also numberous more people could get involved, and they'd have the opportunity to use thinks like Game Center, too.

    So how'd you like it?

...Implying the gameboy and DS systems are not mobile platforms.

My answer? No. Exclusivity is a valuable asset (As in money in their pocket) and splitting the game across a bunch of platforms would just cause a split in the community anyway. Unless Nintendo desperately wants to add an insignificant increase to Pokemon's already mind-baffling huge fanbase neither they nor us have anything to gain from doing that.

Also, playing Pokemon on such inferior gaming hardware would be frustrating at best. I can imagine it now. Disgustingly large user interfaces taking up the screen at all times just so that we can reliably move and press buttons on a game that already demanded a bigger screen to begin with. How we could expect the games to retain start button functionality and quick use functionality without making is memorizing gestures is beyond me.

No, I have a hard time punching in phone numbers correctly with tiny cell phone buttons, and voice recognition and me do NOT get along at all. Trying to play Pokemon games on those things would be a major challenge to say the least. Pokemon games have fairly complex menu systems nowadays, and adjusting to the much smaller screen size doesn't sound too appealing, either.

Not to mention with my luck I'll get an incoming call right in the middle of some critical battle... I'd much rather play it on a handheld system that's designed primarily for gaming than one of those jack-of-all-trades devices.

Yeah... But for that you'd have multitasking, so you can easily get back to your battle.

Also the much smaller screen isn't true, except with blackberry, but for ipod/android you'd have an even bigger screen (at least, depends on the android) only you'd have 1 screen instead of two. For that, they could add a new control system just like something with Pokemon Ranger.

For me, I only buy my DS for pokemon games, since the rest of my games is just downloaded to the app store. Not to mention, games you download via mobile stores are better for the enviroment and much cheaper. And alot of fans? I don't know about America, but here in Europe they don't. I think they will anyways, since mobile gaming is increasing hugely.

It could work, however, it would get a tad bit annoying recieving texts/calls in the middle of the game. I would buy it of course, just to play it, and you could also make use of mobile service providers 3/4g system or simply just wifi, of course.

Mobile phones don't have buttons any more.

The majority of them also have screens larger in both physical size and resolution than a DS Lite. Control would be identical to DS games with the exception of "virtual" d-pad to move and a start button to bring up the menu, which is basically an extension of the menu in HG/SS, a game where everything except movement could be done through touch controls.

Not to mention with my luck I'll get an incoming call right in the middle of some critical battle...

...in which case the game automatically pauses until I return to playing my turn-based video game.

I'd much rather play it on a handheld system that's designed primarily for gaming than one of those jack-of-all-trades devices.

    Everybody makes multi-media devices now.

The average smartphone as a device is really well suited to this kind of game with a large, crisp screen and nearly the entire game can be navigated through big touch screen menus and either a virtual directional pad to move or a better solution would be to touch or drag across the screen in the direction you want to move. However it's never going to happen because Nintendo doesn't want to give the real parts of their big IPs to their competition.

    My case in point.

    Yes.

I barley use my 3DS anymore seeing how it's basically only a gaming device and I use my android cellphone much more. Plus, Android Market seems to have games about as good as full price 3ds games for about a tenth of the cost.

Actually, I've tried playing Crystal version on a jailbroken Iphone, and it's not that bad (other than the sound, but that's probably because it's an emulator). And if the game is specifically made for touchscreen phones, it will probably be even better. Pokemon games don't really require precise timing (except the Pokeathlon/Contests, but those are sidequests), and don't really require precision movement. And since when is there any need to pause the game? It's turn-based, so you can basically just leave the game on any screen.

Sounds silly to me. Then again, I'm not not a fan of playing games on my phone. That's not to say it couldn't work, it just seems odd to play Pokemon on a phone. Don't people already do that though?

I wouldnt like that because I hate playing games on my phone tbh, i'd like it to stay on gaming platforms.
