HeartGold hack: Pokémon Pure Heart & Pokémon True Soul

I can understand not wanting to create documentation, bc it sounds tedious, but a wild encounter table/where the pokemon are located would be insanely helpful. Also, have you considered adding a gen 8 exp share? I get why most people don't add such to their roms but theyre so handy.

At what point in the game will I know whether or not the patch applied properly?

There might be something earlier that I missed, but my first clue was the patch of grass on Route 36 that lets you catch a Vulpix/Growlithe before you even have any badges

Also, I came across two bugs with Eusine
- on Mt. Mortar's entrance, the cutscene activates even after meeting Suicune there for the first time (after using Cut on the tree, Suicune cries and crashes the game)
- Eusine's encounter on Route 27 keeps activating even after defeating him there, crashing the game

I came here to ask about the Route 27 glitch. :(

I'm otherwise really loving this hack! HGSS is one of my favourite games but my main complaint is the lack of early game Pokemon variety. A Vulpix and a few remixed gym leaders was all I needed!

Pokémon Pure Heart and Pokémon True Soul are my ROM hacks of Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver.
HeartGold and SoulSilver are by far my favourite and most cherished games in the Pokémon series, and
I wanted to make a ROM hack that would elevate these wonderful games into what I'd describe as my perfect Pokémon games.
The purpose of this hack isn't to introduce a bunch of QOL from newer games, make all 496 Pokémon available to obtain
before taking on the Pokémon League, or change the base stats of various weaker Pokémon, but instead to simply make a
number of edits ranging from minor changes to substantial additions. In essence, Pure Heart and True Soul are my
"dream Pokémon games", and my realised vision for the Johto remakes. I had never planned to share my
creation outside of a small circle, but I have come to realise that there are many people who share my ideals, specifically
regarding HeartGold and SoulSilver, who may appreciate my vision for these games. Please note that Pure Heart
and True Soul are ROM hacks solely made for my pleasure, but in choosing to share them with the public, I am
making them open to suggestions and ideas. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the changes I made to HeartGold and
SoulSilver, and I hope you enjoy reading my post, and maybe even playing through my ROM hack!

I know this is a longshot but where can I find the Shiny Stone for Togetic in the wild(like in the screenshot)?

this looks really cool! Trying it out now. any game-breaking (or annoying) bugs i should know about? Also, do any Pokemon (including Starters) have alternate abilities?
The cutscenes with Suicune on Route 42 and on Route 26 if you enter the triggers there again they will attempt to trigger even after you triggered the cutscenes thus softlocking you

that's...REALLY not good. why hasn't that been fixed?
God if I know figured i'd say something about it so that it can get fixed by the creator of this hack pretty much got to Route 26 went back to route 27 and then back and well this is a very concerning issue that must be addressed.

Anyone had any luck with action replay codes or save editing with this romhack?

EDIT: Seems most functions of ye olde pokesav and this newfangled PKHeX works swimmingly, so long as you don't have new items not found in the base games in your bag.

Any consideration to implement:

1) Reusable TMs
2) An alternative to HMs or otherwise be able to delete them freely?

Thanks.

Hi all. Thanks for your interest in Pure Heart and True Soul. To be honest, I never expected it to garner this much attention, and I feel like I made a mistake sharing it here, especially in its current state. To address the Eusine cutscene bugs, I really don't know what's causing it (well, I do know - it's my terrible scripting). I've done three separate play tests, and each time the cutscenes worked flawlessly. Maybe I forgot to account for different playstyles (such as going to Mahogany Town before Cianwood for example, as I always do Chuck first).

I also realise the documentation was severely lacking. I can provide some information here.

Those of you asking where the evolution stones are located, they are all located as overworld items between Route 44 and the Pokémon League:
- Magmarizer: Mt. Mortar B1F (at the bottom of the long set of stairs in the north-west)
- Razor Claw: Route 44 (south of the ledge in front of the Ice Path entrance)
- Electirizer: Ice Path B2F (in the northen section of the raised platform)
- Razor Fang: Route 45 (south of Hiker Timothy)
- Dusk Stone: Dark Cave Route 45 side (north of the two ledges leading to the Route 31 side)
- Shiny Stone: Route 27 (on the isolated patch of land above north of Ace Trainer Brian)
- Protector: Victory Road 3F (in the area in the north-west accessibly by ladders on 2F)

I did not ever plan to add reusable TMs, as that goes against the game design of Gen IV in my view.

I was considering adding a Mossy Stone and Icy Stone to Ilex Forest and Ice Path respectively, so you could get Leafeon and Glaceon in Johto.

To evolve trade evolutions, you just use their respective held item on them from the menu, like any ordinary evolution stone. For Machamp, Gengar, Alakazam, and Golem, just use the Linking Cord.

In the next update, I planned to include the Giovanni event as part of the Kanto story, including an extra scene with the Kimono girls and a double battle against them utilizing Leafeon and Glaceon to "prove your worth" before they handed you the GS Stone.

The Linking Cord is available to purchase at the Pokéathlon Dome on Wednesdays (and Fridays after obtaining the National Dex).

Once again, thank you for your interest. I don't really play Pokémon anymore, and as such, my motivation to continue working on this hack has diminished. Maybe one day, I'll pick it up again and have a look at the Eusine cutscene scripts. At the moment, I just don't feel like touching something I don't really fully understand trying to make things work.

I would really love to know the exact wild encounter changes. For example, can I catch the route 46 5% encounter Jigglypuff from Gold and Silver? And more stuff like that, I just would love to know exactly what to look for, in case I end up missing something

This looks great to try out, but I have a question. Were there any changes made regarding the Pokéwalker?

i dont understand someone make a hack and leave it with bugs, shame

My dude acting like other games don't got bugs and issues xD

Dev's and their teams (if they are fortunate to have them) can try to get all the bugs they can, players will still find them. There is no bug-free game, especially from other fans who are doing this for fun not a living.

Only thing shameful here is your entitlement

Loving Pure Heart, great job

I've been training up Haunter & Graveler and just got to the PokeAthlon Dome and can't find the linking cord in the prizes shop, is it only available on a certain day like some other items or is this a bug?

Also, will it be reusable or will I need to save 3,000 for each evolution?
Also is it purchasable anywhere or can you only get it through the pokeathlon because it is painful to do the pokeathlon through an emulator.

I just downloaded it to play through, and I am super excited to see your work!
Quick question: Are the wild pokemon levels the same as they were in the original games, or have they been bumped up as you progress to make training easier? I feel like the level curve in the original games was a bit off.
Thanks for all of the work you put into this project!
