Pokémon Samba is a fangame in the style of your usual Pokémon adventure; embark on a journey to explore a brand new region and collect 8 badges so you may face off against the Champion! However, the game does have its own twists and added flavors to the usual formula to differentiate it from the official games, be it by the Pokédex comprised of entirely new Fakémon or the many Quality of Life changes.
You will find many references and similarities to Brazilian culture in this game, be it in the design of the Pokémon and the region itself or the folklore surrounding the many areas of the game. This inspiration doesn't come only from the usual Brazilian folklore, but from the entire multicultural aspect of the country, with small references to many other cultures sprinkled into the mix.

Pokémon Samba is a game with a big scope; a brand new region, about 160 new Fakémon, new Moves, new Abilities, new Characters, so we are looking for a great team to help us make this game come to fruition! The game is based largely on Brazil, so previous knowledge of the culture is appreciated!

Q: So...what happened? Why did you disappear, and why make a recruitment thread now?
A: To cut a long story short, life happened. When we were making the demo for Pokémon Samba, Wafflemi and I were a team of only two people; not only that, we were both unemployed at the time, so we could focus on making the game. Even then, we were only able to make a 1-Gym Demo, and the scope of the game grew larger and larger by the second. It was theoretically possible to make the game all on our own, but shortly after the release on the demo, we distanced ourselves ever so slightly for many reasons and we both got full-time jobs. After that, I tried to slugishly push the game forward alone, but it felt more and more like a fool's errand.
I didn't want to ask anyone else for help for a silly reason: pride. Pokémon Samba is a project very dear and close to my heart, something I've been planning and making since childhood, essentially. However, I understand now that pride could only take me so far, and that the game would never come out if it was just me making it. Therefore, that is why I am here today asking for help; the reception the demo got on release was some of the most gratifying things I have ever felt, and I feel truly awful for everyone that was expecting the full game to come out. I want the game to come out, I want the people that played the demo and supported us to have the full release. I am truly sorry for how long it took for me to come out and say anything, but I hope you all understand!
Q: What will YOU, DisgustedKakyion, be doing for the project going forward?
A: I will try my hardest to continue doing the Pixel Art for most Pokémon, and I will make the concept art for every character, Fakémon and location I can! I will also coordinate and lead the team the best that I can; however, I must admit I won't be as "hands-on" as I once was with the project, as it is just not feasible with how my life is going as of now. I want to creativily guide this project, but I want the team to have freedom in how they show their talents!
Q: What can you offer for the team?
A: As you all know, this project is strictly NON-PROFIT. As to be expected, there is no monetary gain involved with this project. But I hope to guide the team in a healthy and productive way, and learn with them just as much as they can learn with me.
Q: What is the state of the project?
A: While the game itself has been made up to the first-gym, the plan is to remake this first stretch in the latest Pokémon Essentials version. However, the entire game has already been planned; plot, chracters, Fakémon, region and everything else. Also, all of the art made for the game is to be kept, so that means a LOT of Fakémon sprites, trainer sprites, UI sprites and so on and so forth.

Update the Game: The main plan is to update everything made so far on the Demo to the latest Pokémon Essentials version. That means basically remaking the entire demo from scratch so we can start fresh.
Implement New Abilites, Moves and Mechanics: Those who have played the Demo may have seen new Moves, Abilities and even Mechanics, such as the Sleeping Bag; the next step is to implement all of the remaining moves, abilities and mechanics planned, such as the character portraits, a reworked Level Cap system, and an in-battle Type UI.
Fakémon: The game has about 160 planned Fakémon; most of them have sprites and stats already, but they all need to be implemented and properly balanced.
