As I've been developing ideas in my head for a week now, I think I have enough material to tell about my new, upcoming Pokémon hack called Pokémon Subzero.
What is it?
Generally, Pokémon Subzero is a hack of an English Pokémon FireRed ROM, and it will be published as usual in an IPS file.
When it will come out?
Not in a while: I have some plans, but I've barely made any changes to the ROM yet. I'm also relatively new when it comes to hacking so when problems arise the progress may be very slow.
What about the region?
The game is located in the Sosles region which consists of various different-sized islands. Temperatures vary within the region: the west parts are much colder than the ones in the east. Because of the size of the region, the islands are divided on two maps. In my current map draft there are 21 cities/towns, 28 land routes and 24 sea routes.
The first rough plot draft

The player is a child whose 13th birthday is on the day the game begins. Player's mother has already bought him/her a Pokémon (Eevee), and she's also ordered a new National Pokédex. However, because of transportation problems, for a while no Pokédexes are available in Mapleseed City, the hometown of the player, and so he/she has to leave to visit the official Pokédex Shop in Palmos City.
However, on the way to Palmos City, the player meets his/her arch rival who has also got a Pokémon – Eevee! The two have always hated each other and so this obvious similarity annoys both of them a lot. After the battle the rival states that he's going to be the best Eevee trainer of the whole region. While pondering that statement the player asks his/her mother to give him/her permission to set traveling around the region. Player then obtains the W Sosles Pass which grants him/her to use the inter-regional ferry to travel between the western islands. (Traveling between islands is also possible via Sea Routes.)
At the beginning, the player may only travel between Yxelion and Middlax due to ferry's difficulties with crossing the rocks at the sea. At the Poplarbor City harbor the player meets Flint who is in a trouble at the time. Player helps Flint with his problem (which is to find his glasses) and then Flint departs to other islands. After defeating the first gym at Poplarbor City, the player is told that the ferry can now travel to other eastern islands. Not much can be done at Trolm at the moment since it's recently been devastated by series of crimes (done by Team Gigantos) and therefore police forces prohibit moving around the island.
On Neljadis the player can though travel quite freely. There are two different gyms for the player to defeat: one in Skight City and the other in Drogheat City. After defeating Drogheat City gym, the player meets Team Gigantos for the first time. They mention their intention to take over the Sosles region and when the player defeats them, they leave Neljadis – though they, of course, do not give up but travel to western Sosles to cause trouble. The player should then travel back to Mapleseed City to see his/her mother so that he/she'll get an improved ferry pass.
Although the player is now allowed to use Surf, the Ferry still is usable to travel between the first six islands. Firstly the player should visit the Redwood City to defeat the fourth gym leader. After this, he/she'll meet the rival again, now being quite strong and having a decent team (see Notable trainers/Rival /Redwood City). Player is told by the rival about the Pokémon League on the island. Player must go see the gatekeeper at Spructal Town to hear that the gates of the city are locked by the mayor and cannot be opened until he comes back. The mayor is in Distrough City, so the player must then go there and get the mayor back to Spructal Town.
Back on Coldezam, the player is told the reason why the gates are kept locked. A bunch of Team Gigantic members have invaded the city of Snockold and are repeatedly trying the invasion of the other cities of the island. Player must then restore Snockold so he/she can then enter the gym and win the 5th badge. After this, the player should go to the other bigger city of the island, Blizzind City. Here the player may acquire a Bicycle and will meet Flint for the second time. Flint tells the player that he knows the secret way to get into Wavillow City, but first he likes to have a match. After winning, the player is given the Secret Gem which, as said by Flint, "awakens the city's heart to a stranger". Flint also states that he'll go next back to his hometown, Teacky City.
Using the newly obtained item, the player can now access the Wavillow City on island of Middlax. The city is almost normal, but the gym leader is missing. One person mentions that the gym leader would have gone to Sunken Wavillow, so the player then must go there also. On the bottom floor the player meets the gym leader. He introduces himself as David and it's revealed that he's the father of the player's rival. David teaches the player about the evolution of Eevee, and when they return to Wavillow City the player challenges David in the gym. After obtaining the badge, David also sells the player evolutionary stones.
The player must now head again to his/her hometown at Yxelion. Out there he/she finds out that, due to his/her acts against Team Gigantic, his/her mother has been kidnapped. With almost no clue where they could be, player must travel to Palmos City where Team Gigantic is said to have its secret HQ. After rescuing his/her mother, the player battles against the leader of Team Gigantic, defeating the organization. Then the player and his/her mother go back home. The rival has also arrived in the town with the seventh badge in mind, so before the player can challenge the 7th gym he/she must first defeat the rival.
After clearing up the Team Gigantic, Trolm can now be freely explored, though it's not mandatory. The only other island left unexplored, Cahdeez, can now also be accessed, though the player must go around the island because of the eastern part of the island is blocked by small trees (which can be cut down). At the eighth gym the player and Flint meet again, as Flint is the leader of the eighth gym. After being defeated by the player, Flint congratulates the player and tells him that he can get to the Pokémon League which is located in Flossom City on the island of Breesi. The player can now go to the league; on the way there (to be exact, in Redwood City) he/she'll meet the rival once more. While again surpassed by the player, the rival is still convinced that he'll be able to defeat the Pokémon League and therefore rushes to the Crystal Cavern.
When arriving to Flossom City Pokémon League, the player finds out that the rival has lost in the League and has left the city to train more. The player can then take part in the League and eventually defeat the Elite Four and the Champion.

- Some maps reconnected to represent the 1st island of the game.
- Eastern Sosles tilemap inserted
Next I'm going to continue with the 1st island scripts, removing the old scripts and map details at the same time.
