Ok, I might look like a total weido for talking about this, but...

I never quite liked the underater scenes in the Pokémon anime. I can understand that most water Pokémon can breathe underwater, but I questioned species like Buizel and Piplup.

As for the characters themselves... It' probably pretty stupid to get stuck in details like thin, but they are always able to talk underater. I find that strange. Even in the Orange League Arc where they had full SCUBA gear. As for my last point, I've never understood how those small red breathing thingys are supposed to work (or last for such extended periods of time).

Anyone having thoughts about this? Please don't hate me :(

In epsiode DP047 Ash and co went diving. During that entire part there was no talking at all. When the trainers want their Pokemon to attack, they simply pointed at the opponent.
Only TR talking underwater, but they were equipped with a helmet.

So the writers do seem to have figured out that talking in underwater is impossible, unless a character is wearing an airtight helmet.
