Luther turned, just in time to see Jake running towards him, yelling something about smiling. Luther grinned. "It's so nice of you to join me! You see, the pokemon and I were discussing the current political state of the world over a nice cup of tea."
He gestured towards the group of growling, salivating, bloodthirsty creatures that surrounded him. "They're really quite a fine group, you know. Educated, polite, and-" he was cut off, as the Ninetales leapt on to him and knocked him to the ground, attempting to tear out his throat.
Luther gasped as the air was knocked out of his lungs. He was not pleased. Instinctively, he jolted his right leg upward, planting his knee firmly in the Ninetales' stomach. The dog-like pokemon howled, and Luther promptly headbutted it. The Ninetales fell on its back, and stopped moving.
"No, Brock would NOT make a good senator!" Luther said calmly as he stood up. He dusted off his coat, then turned back to Jake. "They can get some really stupid ideas, sometimes." Luther took a step forward, and calmly swatted away the now airborne Grovyle. It fell unconscious with a thud.
"I'm hungry. Let's go eat something later," he said with a smile.

Dragonite soared through the air at an incredible rate. The psychic trainer sat atop the dragon, her jade-colored hair flowing neatly in the breeze. "It's been a while since we've seen each other, hasn't it?" She asked, nostalgically. Dragonite let out a soft cry in response.
"I don't mind being the back-up agent. I just hope this isn't something stupid like the last time." Sabrina chuckled, but wanted to slap Luther at the same time. The last time he called her, he was running an unauthorized investigation on a strange occurrence at the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town. Apparently, the ghosts had reappeared.
It turns out that Lavender Town was celebrating Halloween, and the "ghosts" were merely decorations. The Tower had been temporarily turned into a tourist attraction. "Please tell me this is a serious issue. Pokemon League agents shouldn't be investigating how to bake the perfect loaf of bread."
Dragonite nodded, and Sabrina smiled. "Then hurry. I still have a gym to run, you know!"
