That's a cool idea, by the by the other night, I saw the moon in cresent phase around 7.PM.
 
Here is my observation reports after observing Saturn on Friday night and Jupiter Sunday morning with my telescope.

You're lucky to have a telescope. I don't have one. =/
And it's freezing out here. -At last Winter started here, 2 months to late-
Currently in Geography we're learning about the Atmosphere, so not really Astronomy.

BTW, a few years ago I went to the "Sterrekijkdagen" (Stars-spot-days XD)
I saw a red, a blue and a yellow star. It's amazing that you can see those colours.

I must say it's interesting to hear a new Star is born. It's only sad I won't be able to see it. T_T
Can you explain a little more what that program is for? And it's awesome you can make that.
 
It is memory game that I made for my computer programing class and if you get up very early ( 5:30 AM local time) in the morning, Scorpius visible.

Yes, you can join and I would like to remind members that on March 3, 2007 that there will be a total Lunar eclipse with the Umbral eclipse beginning at 4:30 EST, totality begins at 5:44 PM EST, the end of totality is at 6:58 EST, and the Umbral eclipse ends at 8:12 PM EST.

So tomorrow is the Lunar Eclipse, huh? That's great!
I might check on it. I just heard that the sky above Belgium will be clear, so I might go see it. ^^
Now I just have to change the EST to GMT+1.

I saw the lunar eclipse on saturday 3rd of march, does anyone know when the next solar eclipse is meant to happen, and where is the best place to see it?

YES! I saw the lunar eclipse too. It was great, although the moon stood a bit to far away to really see it. And sky was a bit cloudy. xO
At my place it started at 10:30 and ended past midnight.
I remember seeing a lunar eclipse long ago. There were almost no clouds, and it was early in the evening. The moon wa really big and red like a tomato. It was awesome, yet a bit scary. (I was very young then, I didn't know what it was yet)

For the next solar eclipse? I don't know. The only thing I know is that we had a complete one in 2001. You could only see it in the south of the country, but in the north (where I live) you could see a bit of it.

Edit: Technically some sort of solar eclipse occurs 15 days before or after a lunar eclipse. The next total solar eclipse is August 1st, 2008.

National Dark - Sky Week and a Light Pollution Bill

Today marks the beginning of National Dark- Sky Week. national Dark - Sky Week was created five years ago to raise awareness of the effects of light pollution not only on the night sky but other effects on society. Also I would like to mention that the New York State Assemble introduced a bill that would fight light pollution.

Mercury has a molten core

Recent studies of Mercury has indicate a molten core like Earth.

Nah! There's signs that indicate there may have been water at one point with indentations that look like long streams (if memory is correct), but there's no water. In the long run, water = possibility for life, and we're the only life in our solar system. The only other thing close to water is on one of Jupiter's moons, Europa, which is covered with ice, but estimated to be too cold to support any sort of life.

I could be wrong, though... my area of expertise is in Astrophysics (black holes, Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, space-time, and all that jazz) rather than true blue Astronomy.

But I'd like to become a member anyways!
