Pokedex question

This may be a stupid question, but HGSS will be my 3rd Pokemon handheld game, and I am so confused. Lets say in my Pearl, I caught a Charmander. This Charmander evolved to Charmeleon and then to Charizard. Thus my Pokedex will say that I saw 3 Pokemon. If I transfer my Charizard to HGSS, then will my Pokedex say that I only saw Charizard and not Charmander, and Charmeleon? If so, does this mean I'll have to see another Charmander and Charmeleon to complete my Pokedex in HGSS?

If you tranfer a Charizard into HGSS, yes, you need to see another Charmander and another Charizard for your HGSS pokedex.

Oh wow. That sucks. They should make it so you could transport previous Dex data over to newer games.

HGSS has its own Pokedex from the start. You can transfer whatever from another "traditional" DS cart (platinum, pearl, diamond). Pal Park needs to be unlocked and Pokemon not from the default Pokedex will not appear in Dex until story progression has given the player the National Pokedex.

It only counts the lowest evolution you have seen.

For instance, if you transfer a Charmander over, and then evolve it, you will see Charmander > Charmeleon > Charizard.

If you transfer it over as a Charizard the pokedex will only see Charizard.
