Ah, yes, Pokemon..the biggest craze for kids. Or...it was. It is still a hot seller, but it has been in a very visable decline. Even my friends who were "PokeCrazy" are now off doing other things with their lives. Even myself, I find it hard to pick up a Pokemon game and play it as much as I used to it.

I remember back when I first got Pokemon Silver, I picked it up early in the morning and only took breaks to eat (took it to the bathroom with me. Lol). I enjoyed it so much, but now, it feels like its been beat to death or maybe I'm just growing out of it. I'm not sure.

Pokemon was what got me into the gaming universe and now I feel I must move on to better things, and my current life schedule hardly gives me time to even pick up my DS. Been sitting in the sam spot for about a week and a half.

Pokemon will always be remembered as one of Nintendo's Greatest, but I feel that with the new generation of people coming, its best to let it rest. It had a good, long run, but Nintendo should be smart and invest in the newer, bigger hits.

How do you feel on this subject? Is Pokemon dying out or just in a rough spot?

I remember back in the days of R/B/Y, everyone was crazy for Pokemon. they were all trading cards, talking about the anime, etc.

Some people might dislike it more than they used to, but I still like Pokemon, as well as other Nintendo franchises.
In fact, I started liking Pokemon more when the advanced generation came out.

I don't really like pokemon as much as I use to, either.

Mostly, I just write pokemon fanfiction, but the main things about it (battling, trading, etc) don't interest me at all.

I'm also one of those people that got even more crazy with Pokemon when the advance generation came out

We're already discussing this here. Basically, Pokemon is one of Nintendo's biggest sellers. Just because it doesn't appeal to old farts who've been playing since R/B/Y doesn't mean it still isn't raking in millions for Nintendo. Frankly, Nintendo would have to be completely retarded to give it up.

Everyone plays Pokemon for different reasons, some for battling , some for breeding, and many other different reasons. But Pokemon appeals to a wide variety of people because of all its different aspects.

What strikes me odd though is that you say that you see, or that there is a decline in popularity. Pokemon is Nintendo's most profitable product, from games to movies, to toys and anything else there is, Pokemon is everywhere. Also, Diamond and Pearl has the most sales of any other Pokemon game ever, and was awarded best RPG of 2007, and from the looks of things, Pokemon and Nintendo are going sky high. But the higher you fly, the harder you fall. Yes, Pokemon will one day fall like many other franchizes long past, but not now, and not for a while.

To better understand, na dbefore you deside to controdict me, look at it this way.

Nintendo makes most of their money from Pokemon, and thats a "WHOLE" lot of money. One of their biggest, if not, their most successful franchise ever. And many people keep on asking and wondering if others are growing old of it as much as they are. Well, with as much people that are growing old of it, there are twice, or three, mabye four or five times as much people that are growing fond of it. And also, another big controversal question that keeps on being asked along with this, is if Nintendo will make more generations of Pokemon. Well, like it or not, the answer is a big fat YES. Again, look at it this way. Pokemon is Nintendo's most profitable, and one of their most popular franchises.

    So ask yourself this:
If Nintendo is making so much money off of Pokemon, why on earth would they just up and say "Okay, no more Pokemon, we have enough money, so.......we're just gonna stop! Have a nice day!" ???????

Well they wont, Nintendo has landed on a mine, not a mine full of gold, but a mine full of diamonds. Pokemon is not dying out any time soon.

And though Pokemon is dying in many other people, the amount of people that still love it and are starting to love it surpass them ten fold.

But is Pokemon dying out? Well, maybe in many areas, or, do you just think that it is dying out!? But for some it is, and for some it isn't. So, why don't we just leave it at that.

    PS: Great Topic

theres been lyke, a million threads lyke this.

maybe its dead. i mean, pokemon mystery dungeon 2 is coming out septemeber of 2008 (japan already has it and i have 2 wait till 8th grade? WTF?) but it may still die.

i mean, its doing really well, but we can only hope it has the same fate as mario, one of the longest-lasting games evur.

Pokemon is still going strong. Even when the new generations and cards and anime and over fandom settles down, it has still carved out a niche for itself among video game icons, and I don't see Mario or Zelda just spontaneously going away.

the golden age of pokemon died out when the anime got to hoenn. thats when the story line declined for the anime and the game. yea alot of cool stuff was added but it changed the feel and the look of alot of things. i still cant think of hoenn and before that as the same serise. i do like shinoh because its returning to what pokemon was and you can see that in the resurgence of pokemon. pokemon does need to end but i dont think its dying if anything its changing. pokemon is something i hold on to from my child hood and i think it has alot that has been taken away mostly the quality of the show and the games ect. if you really go back to the roots of pokemon which was satoshi tajiri's childhood bug collecting you can see that but now its more about what it has become. this is just my personal opinion on the matter.

Well if you look in the Ginuis book of records(h/e u spell it) Pokemon games Set like 40 records for most sold, Quickest sold out etc... Pokemon Silver was the most Purchased game the year it came out beating its competition by like 5.3 million copies...not to mention Over in China and Japan and Outside of the US they are in a different mind state...Pokemon Is cool over there no matter how old you are lol...(correct me if im wrong) but over here in the US the older kids grow out of it ONLY because there friends will make fun of them and stupid things...Me personally I dont care... if you saw me you would NEVER thought i played pokemon lol.... www.myspace.com/portownzfinest <--lol look at my myspace...But anyway...I think Pokemon Will expand more and more until theres like 90 billion pokemon xD
