    Pokemon Adventures

    Introduction
Welcome to Pokemon Adventures. I have been planning this game for several months now in hopes that I might figure out what platform I would create this game under, or whether I was going to just break down and write my own engine. Due to time constraints with work and school i decided against the latter, and settled with RPG XP as my choice. I am a pretty solid programmer really looking into diving head first into learing the Ruby language (the scripting language used by RPG XP), and with the help of a few of the starter kits floating around I should be able to jump right in.

The storyline for my game, essentially stems from the Pokemon Special storyline, and incorporates Red as the main character in each Volume. Each character has their own personality, flaws, secrets, and talents, and all of these will be reflected during game play. I have recently started mapping the game, and will likely map the first two regions before I release any kind of Beta.

    Storyline
    Volume 1 Kanto
The Kanto region is considerably similar with the original Pokemon Red/Blue version. The protagonist, Red, will receive one of the three starter Pokemon from Prof. OAK and begin the journey in Pallet Town, although the beginning storyline is a bit longer than in past versions. He will need to battle against the eight GYM Leaders in Kanto before reaching the Indigo Plateau. The most notable difference is how this is gone about. The character Blue is introduced and will serve as one of the Character's long term rival, as well as the traditional rival Green. Various gym leaders will now have ties to the villianous Team Rocket, and will make multiple appearances throughout the game. The Indigo Plateau Conference is noticeably different. The protagonist will have to battle through six trainers in a tournament style, before becoming the league champion.
    Rivals: Green, Blue
    Villians: Team Rocket, Mewtwo

    Volume 2 Orange Islands
Volume two introduces the Orange Islands, and is set a few years after the Indigo Conference. Red has been hanging around Pallet Town, and is offered the now vacant Viridian City Gym Leader position. After meeting a young trainer (Yellow) and saving her from a wild Dratini in the Viridian Forest, Red recieves a letter from a mysterious trainer, and heads off to the Orange Islands. Traveling through the region, Red will face a variety of suprises on top of the the regional gym leaders.
    Rivals: Yellow, Blue
    Villians: Elite Four

    Volume 3 Johto
Volume three begins upon returning to Pallet Town. After returning home Red learns that in his apsense Green has stepped in as the Viridian City gym leader, Yellow has become the newest trainer from Pallet Town to win the Indigo Conference Championship, and Blue has mysteriously disapeared into the Johto region. Professor Oak, is excited to have a look at your pokedex. After looking through it, he notices Pokemon unfamiliar to the Kanto region, and suggests that maybe they are native to the Johto region. After explaining how to reach the Johto region, and that Professor Elm is conducting similar research on the regions to Pokemon, Professor Oak suggests that Red pay a visit to the region. Upon entering Johto, Red is attacked and robbed. After reaching New Bark Town, Professor Elm gives Red a regional starter Pokemon to help him in recovering his stolen Pokemon. At this point Red meets his two newest rivals Silver (has starter with type advantage to Red) and Crystal (has starter with type disadvantage to Red). Team Rocket has resurfaced with a new group of leaders, and have blocked any transmission with other regions, preventing Red from having access to his other Pokemon.
    Rivals: Silver, Blue, Crystal
Villians: Team Rocket, Mask of Ice

    Volume 4 Hoenn
Volume four begins with our hero returning to New Birch town after the silver conference. Blue after finding her parents, is in search of a new purpose. Red always looking for a challenge, proposes that the two journey to the Hoenn region. Upon arriving in Hoenn both trainers discover a new kind of Pokemon competition... Contests. Blue proposes that her Red see who can gather all eight badges or ribbons first, but their challenge is quickly interupted when two new villianous teams and their plans are revealed. Can our heroes put their differences aside, and stop Team Aqua and Team Magma from unleashing Groudon and Kyogre and destroying the balances in nature.
    Rivals: Blue
    Villians: Team Aqua, Team Magma

Volume 5 Sevii Islands / return to Kanto
Volume five begins with Red leaving Littleroot Town to return to Kanto. Upon returning to Pallet Town, Yellow informs Red of a meteor that has recently crashed down in the Sevii Islands. News reports have shown high interest from trainers flocking to the region to see if the rumors of a new Pokemon are true. Upon arriving in the Sevii Islands, Red quickly discovers that when people disapear, they don't stay gone forever...
    Rivals: Silver, Blue, Yellow, Green
Villians: Giovanni, The Three Beasts, Elite Four, Deoxys

I have to say, the storyline is awesome! Awesome!

But, your mapping... could use some work. :\

Cut out all the empty space in pathways and that river area in Pallet Town. And, fill up some empty space with flowers or tall grass or something. That'll make it better!

Currently all my towns, and most of my routes are exactly the same as in FireRed/LeafGreen. For the time being i'll probably leave it that way, until I get all of Kanto mapped, and then i'll go back and make edits based on how the storyline and quests are incorporated in each area. The routes and towns are also void of towns and people currently, thus they appear more empty than they actually are.

I should hopefully have some new screenshots and/or maps up this weekend, depending on what I can work around my busy schedule

added a few new maps to the main thread, a look at what Cinnabar Island will look like, and the astetic changes I made

I agree with Rubii Naruto, the water does look kinda strange.....but overall good effort and good luck with this project.

the water is just a place holder currently until i figure out how to animate the water by switching tiles...

As far as the Volcano goes, I had a huge problem with the fact that in the Gen 2 games, a volcano erupted on the island wiping everything but the pokemon center, but there wasnt a volcano actually on the island. So I found a geographical map, that I believe is based more off the anime, and make the island more so to replicate that. The mansion will still be added back onto the island, but will play a signifcantly different role that it had in the official games

Start of the title screen... needs a bit more work

Train station to Johto, located in Saffron City... all needs a few touchups, but should be done by the end of the week.

I appologize with the lack of updates... I actually have a good portion of the overworld for Kanto mapped. At this point its working around a hectic schedule to get the rest of it done.

I hope you can finish this. I was planning to do something similar to this, but with each region in a different game, but this is perfect!
