3rd Gen Pokemon and item location help on Leaf Green and Fire Red

Well, first you need to have beaten the league, and go to Five Island. Walk east, and surf further east across the water. You have to walk along the strip of land you'll see- you should see 3 blond haired people on this strip. You keep walking south along this piece of land. You'll reach a small sandy area. Continue on south (surf). You'll reach the Memorial Pillar, on a miniature island. You'll see an Item ball clearly- this is the metal coat. If you'd like me to be more specific about everything, don't hesitate to ask.
(In case you do not have The Sevii Islands unlocked yet, and if you don't know how, you must have more than 60 Pokemon caught in your Pokedex and then defeat the Champion). Hope this helps.
