Emerald hack: Pokemon Atlas Emerald (Beta 1.0sc) - Update Nov24 - New Overworld Sprites | Normal and Hard Mode

Dear all,

New update:

- Fixed a sequence break in Lylicove City

- Improved the weather system in the new regions

- Changed the location of Good Rod and Super Rod (the NPCs from Emerald locations says where to find now)

- Other minor fixes and improvements

Have a great week!

CAulin
How can I apply the .UPS patch to a base Emerald ROM? I was able to do the old IPS patch for the 0.9 versions.

Thank you! I was able to get it patched using an online method. I played it for a bit but I had to put it down. I know it's been brought up by multiple people, but the legs issue really breaks my focus on the game. I do have this ROM bookmarked and hope to play it in the near future!

Hello man @CAulin congrats for the game, it's going awesome so far. I have a question, I saw you wrote "5) Is possible to obtain Trade Evolutions using stones". I now have Kadabra, Graveler and Haunter, I was wondering how exactly can I evolve them. Thank you very much!

Hi, sdelascasas,

Almost all trade evolutions use Sun and Moon Stones to evolve (for Kanto, Johto and Hoenn Pokémon) .

There's a special vendor in Mahogany Town that sells all stones if needed.

I'll update this post when possible with the stone evolutions changes and add in the Readme file.

Evolution List Changes:

- Kanto Pokémon

Alakazam = Kadabra + Moon Stone
Machamp = Machoke + Sun Stone
Golem = Graveler + Sun Stone
Gengar = Haunter + Moon Stone

- Johto Pokémon

Politoed = Poliwhril + Moon Stone
Slowking = Slowpoke + Sun Stone
Steelix = Onix + Sun Stone
Kingdra = Seadra + Moon Stone
Scizor = Scyther + Sun Stone
Porygon2 = Porygon + Sun Stone

- Hoenn Pokémon

Huntail = Clamperl + Sun Stone
Gorebyss = Clamperl + Moon Stone

--//--

In future updates I intend to transform the trade items in evolutions items, like Metal Coat to evolve Onix and Scyther.

And change Espeon and Umbreon evolutions to Stones, to add a possibility to evolve without the RTC.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Hello! Can I take a peek at your code to see how you implemented multiple regions into pokeemerald? Or did you do it via binary?

https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/how-to-build-multiple-regions-in-pokeemerald.530332/

There is nothing on the internet that would seem to help me, no info at all.
I know this is a bit old but maybe it might help you:

It applies to pokemerald.

Hi PokemonXO,

My rom hack is binary. Basically I got Vanilla Emerald added some quality of life features with modexe, a Decapitalization Patch and used advancemap to add maps for Kanto, Johto and Sevii.

Basically I recreated the maps from HGSS Kanto and Johto adding in Emerald and using Emerald tileset, this process was highly time consuming I did this during months. Sevii Maps was a little more easy because they're not that massive.

All my progress and successful changes lately was thanks to Hex Maniac Advance, probably the best and more actual binary tool.

Dear all,

I'm not dead, just a lot busy.

I finally changed the Overworld Sprites to a more default appearance, hope you all like it.

There's a lot of minor changes and little fixes. Major changes below:

-New Overworld Sprites

-Change in Eevee evolutions to not depend on RTC (use Sun Stone and Moon Stone to adquire Espeon and Umbreon).

-Normal Mode Patch, enjoy the game with more freedom and no level cap

-Hard Mode Patch: Level Cap restrictions, for people wanting more challenge

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Kind Regards,

I've played a couple hours of this. I used the save from a Vanilla Emerald and it seems to work.

I love what the Sprites look like in the overworld.

I also love the Pokemon sprites, those are really good.

I overall like the look and feel of the game, though it does feel like a beta, it looks very well-made so far. I've encountered no bugs or anything stopping me from doing stuff I normally do in Emerald.

I love the main feature of being able to travel to other regions in Emerald, that's the absolute show stopper and it does what it says on the can.

For that main feature, I really hope you continue making this and that you complete this.

It is missing some QOL features but maybe you're still working on those but that's beside the point that this beta is really good. The trainers in Johto are hard / overleveled but maybe I came here too early. Haha.

I love what you did with Emerald, it's really good. Please continue this.

Hope you have a good weekend and all the best on your studies.

Thank you for all the work, I grew up with Ruby/Fire Red/Emerald and this ROM is a nostalgic dream come true!

Some feedback from my progression through the game so far, I'm currently sitting on 6 badges:
I have not encountered any bug and I'm having a great time playing the game.

A few version-exclusive Gen 3 pokémons seem to be missing:
- Zangoose and Lunatone can't be found where they showed up in Ruby/Sapphire (they were absent from the original Emerald game), and their area is displayed as Area Unknown in the pokédex.
- I also spent some time looking for a wild Volbeat without success but ended up getting one through breeding.

The Hoenn Safari Zone feels kind of underwhelming without the rare gen 1-2 pokemons which I assume were moved to the Kanto/Johto safaris. I only explored the first areas so far (at the entrance and behind Bike puzzles) and the feeling is very different from discovering all the new wildlife in the original games. However it's great at showcasing some of the rarer endemic Hoenn life, and serves as a good way to catch up on rare pokémons you might have missed such as Skitty, Slakoth, Electrike, etc.
The only exclusive pokémon that I found was Roselia, although I expect the Hoenn starters to show up in the areas locked behind Hall of Fame.

Kanto's fossils were missing from Mt. Moon but that system may still be work in progress.

Hi Melirin,

Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for letting me know Zangoose and Lunatone was missing, my intention was to add exclusive Pokémon from Fire Red/Leaf Green, Gold/Silver and Ruby Sapphire in the same routes from the games and add them in Sevii Islands and regional Safari Zones. In general Kanto, Johto and Sevii Islands have vanillaish Wild Encounters from their games.

I think I forgot because there's a lot of maps and I didn't updated my own control.

Yes, you're correct the Hoenn starters are in special area of Hoenn Safari Zones open in post-game. Kanto Safari Zone is similar to FRLG and the Johto Safari Zone have the Emerald and other Johto Pokémons.

All fossils Pokémon are in Desert Underpass area too. I didn't added new Kanto Fossils items to use Cinnabar Lab mainly because Key Items have a limit of 30 and is not possible to storage or sell them.

I did a minor update, a new version fixing the missing Pokémon, a minor fix in May house maps. Please update your game. Volbeat is in the same route of Illumise and now have a high chance to appear.

Thanks a lot.

I'm back after playing (a lot) more, I didn't expect to get hooked back in the game that much after staying away from the franchise for more than 15 years.

I cleared most of the game, there's probably still a few late game encounters that I'm missing and I haven't tried the Battle Tower/Hill/Frontier, but I've done all three regional leagues and tried to get every Pokémon, so here's some more feedback!

Regarding balance: there's a point in the game where you have to reach the Sky Pillar on Route 131 to stop the fight between Groudon and Kyogre and unlock the gym in Sootopolis. On the way to the Pillar there are two trainer encounters on Route 129-130-131 (Triathlete Chase and Swimmer Santiago) with level 56-60 teams but at that point the level cap in hard mode is still level 50.
I'm not sure if it's an oversight or if it's just intentional and they should be avoided.

Missing Pokémons: I managed to get the vast majority of Pokémons (or at least their unevolved variant), but I'm still missing a few either because I can't find them at all (listed below) or because I can't access their expected location (listed later under Bugs)

- Mr. Mime was only obtainable through npc trade in Fire Red / Leaf Green, according to the wiki it was also a wild encounter on Route 21 in Gold/Silver but I didn't find it there.
- Togepi, in a similar fashion, was only obtainable through trading with a NPC in the Water Labyrinth near Island 5, I noticed the new grass patch near that NPC but didn't encounter Togepi there.
- Porygon was a Casino reward in Kanto and Johto and if you added an alternative method to obtain it I must have missed it
- Aipom and Pineco were tied to the Headbutt Tree mechanic in Gold/Silver, they were also present in Emerald in the Safari Zone extension

Bugs:

In Icefall cave on Island 4, there are invisible walls in the second room that make progression impossible. As a result Suicune and Lapras can't be found.

Event tickets: I obtained the various tickets for Latios/Latias (Eon Ticket), Deoxys (AuroraTicket), Mew (Old Sea Map), Ho-oh/Lugia (MysticTicket) but I'm not sure how they're supposed to work.
I tried talking to the lady at both Lilycove City and Slateport City docks but only had the normal dialogue to board the ship. I suppose some events need to be triggered on top of having the tickets to unlock the new travel locations.

In the Mt. Moon area with Yellow, there's a pond where you can fish, but fishing starts a fight with a level 0-1 "???" Pokémon.

Thank you once again for your work, I had an amazing time playing through the hack!

Hi Melirin,

Thanks for the feedback.

About your topics:

1) Balance: I'll take a look, maybe was oversight I probably considered the trainers to already have all the badges at that point.

2) Missing Pokémon:

This one is a little tricky because I could messed up my control. I'll take a look when possible to confirm, but from my memory:

Mr. Mime I think is available in Cerulean Cave.

Baby Pokémon I intend to add NPC giving eggs as gift, but for now in Faraway Island, Mew's lair, there's baby Pokémon in grass.

Porygon: This may be missing, I was trying to replicate the Casino script. I may add temporary in Cerulean Cave in next update to be available.

Aipom and Pineco, I think Pineco is on Ilex Forest and Aipom is between Violet City and Azalea Town routes (I think in Johto Safari Zone too).

3) Bugs

Suicune and Lapras: I'll take a look in Island 4 to see what happened.

Event Tickets: to them be activated, you need to have S.S. Ticket and has gone to Battle Frontier at least one time, you need to have the Mr. Briney event on S.S. Tidal. The one he become the captain.

After it I think you need to go to Lilicove Harbor and the event of tickets will happen. I'll take a look, but in my tests this was working properly like the Vanilla game.

EDIT: For some reason the flags that enabled the events didn't work along with item pickups. I will add a NPC in Frontier map that activates the flags.

Mt. Moon: I need to take a look, probably I messed up

--//--

Thank you for playing the hack, this is the type of feedback I needed to improve the overall quality.

There's NPCs text I need to rewrite, finish Trainer Tower in Seven Island and etc...

In the future I intend to improve little things in regions without Pokedex data, I'm thinking about adding signs with Wild Encounters info in each route.

I try to have a look to fix these minor problems. I'm just happy the majority of things looks like are working properly to you with minor bugs.

I try to do a little update to fix these errors, I wanted to have more time to work in this properly again.

Thanks a lot.

I added Red, Leaf, Blue and Prof. Oak in Battle Frontier map to activate the the Event Items.

Red and Leaf are side by side in the left map and Blue and Prof. Oak are side by side in the right map.

Please can you update your game, talk to them and verify if the ticket events happens in Lylicove Harbor?

Thank you for the cooperation!

Have a nice day!
