Your maps. They look a bit off. I think it's the amount of space that you left on the maps.
Now I know you said that the game is set in the woods, but it greatly restricts movement, and makes the map look really boring (the endless amount of trees on either side of the path.
Moreover, your cave screenshot. It's a
cave, a
natural rock structure. You map consists of squares getting larger and larger. It's supposed to be more like a labrinyth. You should look at current PKMN games or even any game with a cave system to get a feel and some ideas for what in-game caves look like.
Actually, the above goes for any map that you make - you should try and make it look natural.
Your house also looks weird. If you wanna seperate the room like that, I have two suggestions. Firstly you should remove the black from the tops, and instead replace it with something like this (look down).
See how there are no hollow parts,
that's what you should be doing.
Lastly, you saved them as jpeg's. The number one rule in any sort of sprite display is to
never use jpeg's, since they greatly ruin quality, as well as the overall look and feel of an image. From now on, I suggest you produce your screenshots in a png format, for better quality shots and a better impression on PC members.
But your maps have been getting better - work at them a bit more.
And I missed where Dashiel was mean.
