Gold hack: Pokemon: Bright Gold

is there actually room for me to add an edited tileset for Articuno's cave etc. ?

Celebi is gonna be hard to do because i dont think its possible to add the event like it is in Crystal :S (Crystal has better graphics like the moving pokemon sprites)

i think i should set unknown dungeon to have a guy in the way that lets you past once you have the 16th badge...

and i dont know how to extract a tileset, or make and insert a new tileset...

anyways, im in the UK and its 2am here so ill be going soon.
 
*shrugs* It doesn't really have to be a new tileset, as long as it looks nice. You can use the Ice Cavern panels. Well, is it even different in Gold, I remember it changed in Crystal. You could probably ask Coolboyman, he knows more about 2nd gen than anyone I know

i just looked at HotW, it appears nobody has won it with a gold hack yet
im gonna aim to be the first :)

almost got moltres mapped, after i have it mapped it wont take very long to implement it
then i'll work on zapdos
which wont take too long either :)
then ill just need to get rid of the god damned running away thing :@
 
Hehe I thought of something if you want to make it cooler place suicune in unknown dungeon. I think it would be cool to that by getting like all 26 unknowns and all 8 johto badges. And mabye have little unknown ruins around johto so some unknowns that are rare there you can get there. Also I know how you can add suicune by placing downwards stairs into the the top left corner. Also mew should be ressurected out of the unknown dna. If you have those answers soorry for wasting space.

ok, time for a little rant
there is a big difference between UNKNOWN and UNOWN
one being something that isnt known and the other being a pokemon
UNKNOWN DUNGEON is where Mewtwo is on Red/Blue/Yellow
UNOWN RUINS is the place where the pokemon UNOWN is after you do the puzzles

im considering setting up the legendary dogs or w/e u wanna call em as map based events after you awaken them from the burned tower basement.


i hope you're all happy to know that as i post this, i have begun to work on an unannounced feature
somethin people were pretty annoyed had been removed :

VIRIDIAN FOREST IS MAKING A COMEBACK! :)

Maybe add a random event there saying Mew reformed it and encounter him there? No other place to put him

it wasnt destroyed by anything but nintendo's lazyness :|

mew's gonna turn up at some point after the other legendary birds have been caught

and because the pokemon first movie shows Mewtwo is able to talk, i might add a conversation for it, make it demand you have Mew before it deems you worthy to challenge his power.
 
That seems cool.

How about putting Mew in Mt Silver, adding a new room after Red was defeated?

I meant unown cave were the unowns live. And the reason why is because unowns are connected to suicune in crystal. I only wanted to suggest that. Also mew should go in viridian forest. How celebi protects ilex mew the same.

there isnt anything to suggest that -.-

ill sort mew out at some point in the future - if you noticed, Mew and Celebei are the last things on the list

that is a good idea but i havent actually thought of it


what does anyone think to my solution for the fleeing birds:

you go into the lair and a trainer is there, you walk up and talk to him and you hear the birds cry
he then says 'WOO!! i just caught [pokemon]'
he then notices you and says 'no way, its mine!'
'fine i'll battle you for it!'
you then fight the trainer, he has a team of 5 tough pokemon and the legendary bird
if you win he gives you it
you only get one chance to fight him per legendary


anyone else like that?
this will be implemented last of all the features so i can have a backup before i do it, incase information allowing me to use the normal method surfaces and i can update the ROM :)
 
Eh, any way of having a scripted battle with the legendary birds in which they appear being sucked into a pokeball or something? I'd rather you walk up to them and talk first, to see them in their lair and stuff =p

:O just thought of something!!
what if i get a sprite of that Lawrence guy from the 2nd pokemon movie - he wanted to collect the legendary birds :)

so you see him in the birds lair, and he captures the bird.
he then escapes in the same way your rival leaves Sprout Tower and moves onto the next bird
same happens
and on the third bird
he says 'im getting tired of this' and fights you
3 rare pokemon + legendary birds, you beat him down and take the birds :)
he then gives up on his quest to capture Lugia :) (saves me some scripting and makes sense)

also - Moltres' lair isnt a new map - the cave to get there is

now, where BLUE usually stands, there is a cave next to him.
its a long cave with a raised area at the end, leading out onto the volcano where moltres is

what do y'all think of that?

if ya like my hack, click on my pokemon in the sig to feed it :P
and rate the thread too please!!
 
Aha cool idea. And question where do you think ho-oh would go cause I want to see new places. And if just at the tower its fine.
