My son is really into Pokemon. He just got his first starter deck (we, his parents got one too so we could play with him.
Because he is 6, I know the paper board that his deck came with isn't going to last long. I have decided to make him a cloth one. I will appliqué a Pokeball in the middle, but I need help on a color scheme and card spot.
I am looking for help on the following:
    1. What color should the battle field be? I was originally thinking green, but noticed his cartoons seem to have sand on the battlefield, but brown is a boring color. I also considered doing two-tone (one color for each side of the battlefield). I was thinking black and white (but white would look dirty fast) or blue and red. I am open to any other ideas though.

    2. I was going to copy the sheet that came with his board for card placement, but I noticed some other sheet online have additional slots for supporters, stadium etc. does he bed these?

Thanks for any advice you can provide. I am really new at Pokemon and have no idea what I am doing!

    1. Green should be fine. As should Blue and Red, which are at their core the primary colors of the two most recent pairs of games, OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire being one pair with the corresponding color being based on the color of the gem in the game's name, while X and Y are the other pair, with X being blue and Y being red.

    2. He doesn't need them, but those could help with reminding him that those cards are special. Only one stadium card for the entire field is needed, though, as only one can be in at a time (and if a new one is played, the old one goes in the discard pile of the player whose deck it came from).

Another tip: try to be wary of any rules kids have about winning the other players' cards if they win a game, since, well, that's a rule the kids are making up and are either getting the idea from other kids or from shows like Yu-Gi-Oh!, where on occasion characters have wagered cards over a match result (though such a thing is expressly forbidden by the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game's rules as well, iirc).
