Pokemon Crystal Held Items

Hi, I want to ask how to give held items to boss trainers in Pokemon Crystal, aka Leftovers, Miracle Berry, Bright Powder etc. Thanks. :)
Btw since I'm new to rom hacking, can someone teach me how to do hex editing if it requires hex editing to give them items.
