It had been a few hours since Ian's encounter with the Paras, and Pikachu joining him but nonetheless Ian felt great about everything he was even more confident then before.
"Ohhhh I'm the greatest trainer that there ever was, cause my name's Ian, and ummmmm oh shoot" Ian said as he ended his cocky song not being able to rhyme anything with Ian. Even after everything that had happened to him so far his mind had been taken off the mysterious events, except for Mew.. He was aww struck by that Mew, and he hoped to one day see it again because he was going to catch it.
The air around Ian was hot and thick, it almost made him want to sit down and take a break, but he was still gushing with confidence over load and decided nothing was going to stop him from getting to the next gym. It was then that Ian noticed what looked to be a big radio tower, but upon further inspection it was just a giant twisty stair case to something.
"Well that's not unexpected at all for this damn island" Ian chuckled to himself as he decided to check it out. The moment he reached the top of the stair case he was instantly in shock, it was actually a beautiful city located far up into the air. At any rate Ian passed up the chance to go to the pokemon center and instead walked towards the gym sticking his chest out. "I'm about to get me a gym badge!" Ian shouted entering the gym which was the highest building in the city, but technically it wasn't even a building it was just a risen platform. Ian instantly had an idea of what type of pokemon the gym leader was going to use.
"Can I help you boy?" A man in a white t-shirt standing across the platform yelled to him.
"Yes I'm here to battle the gym leader and receive my first gym badge!" Ian shouted back with a grin.
"Well is that so, are you sure your…" The gym leader was interrupted by Ian.
"Blah blah, save the schematics for someone who cares and just call out your stupid bird pokemon" Ian shouted back with a ton of sarcasm.. The gym leader did not like this at all, but in a way he saw a chance to knock down a cocky trainer who needed to be taught a lesson.
"Fine, by the way the names Barney, Barney Green, two pokemon per each by the way now go Spearow!" Barney shouts releasing a red and black tiny bird which began to fly around the platform in the air.
"Hmph the names Ian, Ian Rainer future winner of this league, and now officially a Mew Hunter! Go Blaze" Ian shouted releasing Blaze from it's pokeball. The moment Blaze popped out of it's pokeball Barney could tell that it was tired, but that was completely oblivious to Ian.
"Mew Hunter?" Barney whispered with a serious look on his face.
"Blaze sprint, then kick of the ground into the air at the spearow using ember!" Ian ordered as Blaze sprinted for a quick few seconds gaining momentum before using its back legs to push off of the ground and fly straight up at the Spearow, he began to open his mouth to shoot a flames at the spearow but to his and Ian's avail just some smoke came out and Blaze plummeted to the stage floor.
"Char!" Blaze shouted barely catching itself on it's feet.
"What happened!?!" Ian shouted in anger as Blaze fell to one knee. He was exhausted.
"Isn't obvious Ian, your pokemon is exhausted I'm guessing you were to cocky to stop at the pokemon center to heal them" Barney shouted across to Ian. "Now Spearow finish it off with fury attack" Barney ordered as the Spearow circled the tired Blaze before darting straight for it.
"Blaze dodge it!" Ian screeched in terror knowing this was his fault. It was to late Blaze was worn out and could barley get up before Spearow hit him directly with his left wing, before circling back around and hitting him with his right wing.
"Char…." Blaze said softly trying to stay up before falling flat to it's face unconscious.
"One down, one to go" Barney shouted across to Ian with a grin on his face, knowing he had taken Ian's mind out of the battle.
"Blaze return" Ian said bringing Blaze back into it's ball and clipping it on his belt. "I'm sorry buddy, this was my fault" Ian said as a tear rolled down his face he looked down and had to make a choice between Pikachu, or Staryu and then he realized he still had a shot at it.
"Well chose your final pokemon" Barney said.
"Fine, but just so you know this isn't over" Ian said as the cockiness left his body, he was back to being the sincere kid he was before today. And with that he called out his last pokemon.
"I choose you Pikachu!"
