In pokemon emereald, all the gym leaders were truly revamped, and some of those annoyingly tease-obsessed workers at the pokemon company thought " Oh i know! let's make it extra hard for all the pokemon fans otut ehre to beat the gym leaders in pokemon emerald, because that's funny and we can all laugh at them because we can get past them easily because we can change the game!"

Well, they got me i'll admit. some of the gym leaders got me PRETTY DARN stumped. i found it sortof hard to do normans gym, but the ONE gym that got RIGHT on my nerves, was that wretched gym in mossdeep city. <shivers>

In pkmn ruby/sapphire it was hard enough, but in this one, it was just ABSURDLY hard. how did you find them?

I'll just get things going. my problem with the mossdeep gym, was claydol and Xatu.

The problem was, even though a very strong ice attack like blizzard could finish them off in a new turns, they're always too fast, and avoid it most of the time anyway. And then there is claydol's earthquake, which is always SO annyoing. and attacks hardly do any damage at all! and IF you are lucky enough to get past them, you have to have used up most of your hyperpotions and revives anyway, and since solrock and lunatone are higher leveled, it always faints. I always have to trade a pokemon to get past them! any tips? hope so, because i'm coming up to that gym soon!

If this is not too late already I have some tips...

    1. Make your starter pokemon mudkip. water types dominate their pokemon if they are high enough level.
    2. Get some dark types in their too.
    3. For this gym you want a team something like this.

    Swampert lvl 45-50+
    Mityena lvl 45-50+
    Whiscash lvl 45-50+
    Dark pokemon
    lvl 45-50+
    Dark Pokemon lvl 45-50+
    Water pokemon lvl 45-50+
Just as long as these pokemon know dark and water moves then you should be good, but this team is only good for this gym. Good Luck.

I would need to know which starter you chose; it would help indefinitely in your battle, but just as a normal Pokemon here is two movesets for two Pokemon you could rip through Xatu, Claydol, and the two space rocks:

    Sharpedo @ Salac Berry
    Level 40+
    - Ice Beam
    - Surf
    - Crunch
    - Taunt (you can put anything you like in this slot, but Taunt would get Xatu stuck in Calm Mind making Claydol the only active threat on the field).

    Gardevoir @ Lum Berry
    Level 40+
    - Calm Mind
    - Thunderbolt
    - Psychic
    - Hypnosis (once again, this can be used in your on needs, but it can put any Pokemon on the field asleep giving you one to five turns to attack and faint the opponent Pokemon)

    Good luck. :)

Well, thanks for the advice, i have since defeated the gym leader in the time since i have posted 'this' message, and the time i made this thread. Thanks for the advice though! although i did post a rather too long post in a section about four up from this one, the team suggestions are very appreciated, since no matter how many times i have racked my brains and worekd my way round them with strategies, it's still very hard, so i thank you very much!
Although, the point of this thread really was to see if you had any problems with this gym, or any other gym in pokemon emerald, like norman's gym which can be a pain in the backside

    HAHA! Space rocks, thats funny

Oh, I never have any problems with the gyms of Emerald. I find them horribly easy to defeat in battle.

Ha, you must be very well trained. Most of them are easy, exept norman is just a pain with that slaking and linoones belly drum, but Mossdeep gym just get's stuck in my teeth.

Ugh I hated the Mossdeep gym in emerald too! All I can say is fight every trainer every gym trainer and every trainer again to get super strong like I did. Not the best advice but its somthing.

All but the 7th were pretty easy. For the seventh, I had a lvl. 47 Mightyena, and a lvl. 40 Raichu. After I beat their two first poke's, the rest got wiped by my Azumarril.

Tate and Liza are kinda hard coz they also have Xatu and Claydol along with their 'Sun and Moon'.
For me, I used my Flygon and Mightyena to wipe out both of them using Crunch. An Absol or a Sharpedo should also do the job pretty well too. As for Solrock and Lunatone, I'd focus on using water moves on them namely surf, if not then use dark.

actually i don't get any trouble with gyms except wattson coz i don't evolving my mudkip.
just make your Pokémon high-leveled and the gym will be easy for you :D

Considering that this was current this time last year, I think they got their help.

    Locked.
