Now I started working on a new Torchic who's nature is Naughty.
I've been EV training it by fighting Poochyena and Zigzagoon to raise attack and speed.

    Now here's the interesting thing,
I'm not so sure how reliable the NPC at Battle Frontier that checks out your Pokemon's Ability but he keeps saying that my Torchic's Special Attack/Defense are flawless and a thing of perfection.

Now my question is, will my Torchic over time continue to maintain that "high special attack and defense" and that I'll be able to train my Torchic's attack and speed high enough so I'll bring those up close to "flawless and a thing of perfection"? Also does it matter what level a pokemon evolves at (stat wise)?

Well a naughty nature is +atk -sp.def so the guy is kind of weird because its sp,def isn't going to be high, and I don't think the level where a pokemon evolves affect the stats.

Yeah I know what you mean... but hey... if I can make a Blaziken with this type of stats... it sounds like its going to be a really good one stat wise :)

Still want more opinions on this though...

oh wow thanks trjessie :) that helps ^_^

So that means i got a pretty good torchic to work with then ^^

31 = 31 points higher than the stat at neutral nature for lv 100?

and there's no calculator for EVs then I guess and you need to keep track yourself right? and EV bonuses are gained over a duration of time and not right on that same level you earn the EV point at right?

4EV = 1 real stat point. And yes, you have to record EV's given to a Pokemon yourself. I write it in my handy notebook.

EV's are changed to real stats when your Pokemon evolves, level ups or is deposited to PC.

However, EV's are not deleted this way, and the final stats will be the same regardless of when you put the EV's in.

    Example:
If I give my Mew EV's at lv.5, then level it up to lv.100, its stats will be the same as when I put Ev's into it at lv.100.

and im guessing the trick with EVs are not to waste them like.. if you max out on gaining EVs and you only put in 3/4 of an attack point in.

But how do IVs work and how are they calculated along with the max stat depending on nature?

They just add values of 0-31 for all six of your stats. SImple as that.

Natures, EVs, and IVs are all added on separatly. These are the three of the four values that affect a Pokemon's stats, but they don't coincide with each other in anyway.

And if you're wondering, that fourth value would just be the Pokemon's base stat, which is the same for all species of that kind.

Soooo...say you had a Ninjask. Pretend it has no nature, IVs, or EVs for a moment. The only thing left giving it any stats at all would be its base stats.

Now let's say that, based on its base stats, it has 100 Attack at level 50 (I don't know if it does. I'm just making these numbers up for a moment). Now let's give it an Adamant nature, which adds 10% to Attack and takes 10% away from Special Attack.

    It's Attack is now 110, since 10% of 100 is 10, so 100 + 10 = 110.

Now let's throw some EVs on. I'll throw about...80 EVs into its Attack stat. That means it'll add 20 points to attack (80/4=20). It's attack is now 130.

    Now fro the IVs; let's try 22 IVs in Attack. 22 + 130 = 152.

The final value for its Attack stat is 152 points. That's it. Just figure out what 10% of Attack (or whatever stat) without any EVs or IVs is first and add that on. Then figure out your EVs and IVs and add that on.

    I think...

I guess I am confusing this with the information I got from serebii.net....

Their pokedex for each pokemon also shows the Max stat for each individual stat (hp, atk etc.) Now what they did was also include the max stat when they have a beneficial nature for that stat (eg Modest giving bonus to sp atk)

Erm...well...they have to don't they? That chart was for showing the maximum/highest a stat can be with everything included at level 100.

Oh so WITH beneficial nature and max IV and max EV? o_O

No, just the Nature and IVs.

The charts show, pretending that your Pokemon has perfect IVs, what the respective stats would be with a Nature that raises, lowers, or doesn't affect that stat.

It includes EVs as well. I'm pretty sure it does since there's no way a Shuckle can reach 119 Speed with just IVs and a +Speed nature.

Actually, Nature is calculated last, so it plays a big role in training Pokemon (thats why some people even say that crap IV's can be compensated with EV and Natures).

    In case of this Ninjask:

    Without Nature: 142

    With Nature: 156

    The formula will be:
    {(種族値?2+個体値+努力値?4)?レベル?100+5}?性格補正

    [(Base statx2+IV+EV?4)xlevel?100+5]xNature bonus

Of course this applies to stats other than HP, since there are no natures with bonuses to HP.
Also, this formula is used everytime your Pokemon levels up.

That's odd, I never thought they did that. O_o Maybe they changed it with the recent update, or maybe I'm just losing my mind. Sigh...
