Pokemon Fan Game

I am thinking of making a pokemon Fan game. With a little twist in the story which will be liked by everyone.
So i am confused in one thing. On what engine should i make it?
Should I hack the pre existing games?
Make it on RPG MAKER VX?
Make in on Game Maker?

And if you think of a better game maker engine than these. Please suggest it.

Sorry, but Pokemon General isn't the place for discussions on making games, so I'll have to close this thread. If you decide that you'd like to hack one of the existing games, you should take a look over in our Emulation & ROM Hacking boards. If you'd rather make one from scratch, try checking out the Game Development board and its subforums. Best of luck!
