No idea how to sprite. If I attempt to index the images and use them in unLZ, then it will say "Error: Image not indexed." And then it aborts.

So, I have tried to fix it in Advanced Sprite Editor, but it turns out bad. I can't show you what I'm doing because this is my first post.

    1. I Open up APSE and search for a Pokemon.

    2. I Click Edit, Import All, and open up my new sprite (which has already been edited to 16 colors in IrfanView.)

    3. I Click on Synchronise Palettes, and it's all looking good so far. Auto-Transparency box is checked, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do.

    4. I Click OK. Then Write to Rom, Find Free Space, and I insert the number it proceeds to give me in "Write to Offset" in the "Start Offset" box.

    5. I close the editor and then proceed to open my rom. Unfortunately, when I get to the first time "Charmander" should appear, the sprite looks distorted. It doesn't help when I send it into battle either. The back sprite looks just as awful.

What should I do? How do I fix this? Help anyone?
