3rd Gen Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen: One of the best pokemon games?

in my opinion they were really good, also the whole game moved fast - the battle flowed quicker and easier than in diamond/pearl and the graphics seemed brighter

i thought the game got amazing once you got to the Seven Islands

My list of favorite Pokemon games would go something like this:

1. Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
2. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
3. Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen
4. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
5. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
6. All of the other games I didn't mention - there's ton of 'em

But FireRed and LeafGreen are good games. It provided players a way to get their favorite Kanto (and Johto) Pokemon into their other GBA games. Not only that, but it provided players a new area to explore (the Sevii Islands) and a chance to relive their favorite Pokemon adventures. I got both the day they came out. I wish I still had Ruby and Sapphire though, I was stupid and sold them because I had Emerald.

Fire Red and Leaf Green were boring, period. Couldn't get through them. But weirdly enough I've replayed the old games several times. The sheer nostalgia... But there's something else I can't quite explain about the old games as well. The graphics had a weird quality about them that I liked-- sometimes I wasn't sure what the heck things were, and some of the pokemon looked funky and amusing compared to the newer ones, they really reminded me of actual 'pocket' monsters.

i know what you mean - i got that more with Pokemon G/S/C, it had this really "different" feel to it

Yes, the BEST, (tied with emerald =D)
We all like the original pokemon games, but this remake was simpily SUPERB, classic, yet...uh...playable. I mean that by ALL of the graphics were great, and the characcters squarey hat was weird, in a good way, it made me like running around

But i hate the bike....alot

I'd say it was the saving grace of the 3rd generation. Out of all the 3rd gen games I own, Ruby, Emerald, and Fire Red, Fire Red gets the most play time. I have no idea why you guys would not like these games, or say they need more features and what not... it's a REMAKE which means they can't change it up all that much because they're remaking the same games, you can't add a bunch of stuff to mess up that concept.

Also, I love Gold Silver and Crystal as much as the next guy, but why do we need a remake of them? What's wrong with the originals? I cannot figure out for the life of me why everyone and their mother wants a remake of Gold Silver and Crystal, those games had the worst level choices for wild Pokemon, the phone feature was terrible at it's time because you almost NEVER got a call for a battle, you could hardly ever find the evolutionary stones, they gave you too much freedom after you got Surf and could end up in the town with the 7th badge, thus crippling the levels that you face in the wild making it extremely tedious to level up and everything. For everything they did wrong in Gold Silver and Crystal why do people love the games so much? Whoop de do you get to go to Kanto, a watered down Kanto where everyone just about has level 30 Pokemon minus the Gym Leaders, who again aren't that much of a challenge. I'd have to say they made a lot of stupid decisions with Gold Silver and Crystal yet they made even more stupid ones in Ruby Sapphire and Emerald. I'd have to say (Fire) Red, (Leaf)Green, Blue, Yellow, Diamond and Pearl are the only games they got it right in.

So, again, can someone please explain to me why we need a remake of GSC? I love the games because of the retro feel, and that's about it.

Well the first time i played it i had a lot of trouble with the elite 4, but now the only thing that is giving me problems now is Lance and my Rival. But anything else i like.

GSC > DP >/< Emerald > RBY > FR/LG > RS

That's almost my opinion. I agree with the left half, but on the right, I think that RS & FRLG should be switched. I found FireRed to be a reasonably boring game, because not enough elements were added to it as compared to RBY. I find the RBY games to be more entertaining, because they at least have a retro feeling to them which makes it almost amusing to play them. I really liked the Metal generation in comparison to most other games because I feel that it was the most revolutionary set of games of them all, and it even connected to the previous games' storyline. Aside from graphics (and GSC was a huge step up from RBY... in terms of battle/back sprites, at least), double battles, running shoes, and possibly the addition of the second screen, I didn't find anything to be particularly exceptional about the other games as compared to GSC.

FireRed/LeafGreen aren't that great.

I like it best except there's no poocheyena and the beaches are not as good as Emerald's
