Suggestion: Pokemon General Quick Questions thread

    I think there should be a "Quick Questions" thread in Pokemon General... I've had several question in mind that a thread would not be necessary... a thread for general Pokemon questions, that doesn't relate to the game or anime or manga... just for Pokemon in general
     
    Doesn't Pokemon General Daily Chit Chat pretty much double as a Quick Question thread?
     
    I don't think one is all that necessary to be honest. There would be very little questions left after they are filtered out into the other categories and people would just post it in there because they are too lazy to think where it properly belongs. It is quite hard to think of a question without the information being easily and quicker available on the Pokemon's Bulbapedia page. And you might be able to make a discussion out of your question in the Daily Chit Chat.

    But that is just my opinion of course.

    This is how I feel about it. There are very, very few questions that don't relate to one of the games, the anime, or the manga. What kinds of questions would fit into this category if we did make it?

    I think he's referring to questions like: "How much does merchandise cost?", or maybe "Where is the national pokemon tournament is going to be held..." maybe things like those.

    Even so though, google would be the best option to find those answers, imo.
     
    pronunciation questions, why questions? is the a... questions, that kind of stuff,
     
    Post a pronunciation thread for discussion on it in general. And I still think the PG Chit-Chat would cover that. It's not a major issue how you pronounce a Pokemon's name really. Some say Ray-kwah-zuh and others say Ray-kway-zuh. No big deal, we know what we're talking about.

    And that's when you use Google. Really, that question doesn't need a Q&A thread or its own thread. Some people just type it that way cause that's the official way. It's not a big deal.

    How? Assuming Windows, you can go to Run and type in "charmap" and then find the é character. Or you can just Google "special characters". Or you can just c/p it from somewhere. Or you can use alt codes. Not too hard.
     
    Protip: Every page has the accented e somewhere, usually in the name of the section or the forum itself. I just copy and paste from there. If not, I always have Bulbapedia open so I copy from a page there. But asking on PC how to do an accented e is a tad silly, when you can just google "how to write e accent mark" and have it in the first result long before anyone would even have a chance to answer you.

    But yeah, pronunciation questions if you're looking for the official pronunciation can be easily googled if it's just one word. If you're looking for how to pronounce a lot of words it can be its own thread if there's not one on pronunciation already. Why questions usually deserve their own thread, like why ghosts have weight. Not sure what "is the a" questions are, probably a typo in there but not sure what you meant to be saying.

    But if you do have a small question, you're more than welcome to post it in the Chit-Chat.
     
    Windows: Press and hold the ALT key while hitting the 0232 keys (in that order, one at a time). Viola.
    Mac: Hold down option and hit E to make the accent (´) and then let go of option and hit e again for the actual e. Or press and hold e if you're running lion and select #2.

    I'll be closing the thread now.
