Pokemon Gijinka Academy

Professor Jake Green - Earth House
A few students had arrived already - Jake recognised Flare, the Charizard Gijinka and her Charizard companion towards the back of the lecture hall - he knew that some teachers didn't like such large Pokemon being left out of their Pokeballs when attending lectures, but he himself didn't mind it so much as long as the trainer was sensible like Flare had been and chose a seat where the stature of their Pokemon wouldn't prove too much of an obstruction to himself and the other students.

The room was filling up nicely now...around 70, 80 students so far...he looked up at the clock on the wall and noticed there was still 5 minutes to go before the start of class. He took a Pokeball out of his desk drawer, his companion having been resting ready for the day ahead, and released his Nidoking who looked over at him and grinned, the two butting heads as way of greeting. Jake winced slightly...Nidoking always seemed to have the stronger head no matter how similar they were in make up.

"Good stuff Nid...right, would you be able to help me hand these out before the start of class?" he asked, gesturing to a pile of short, thin books entitled "I am a Gijinka...so what?" which was the Academy's own text companion to this first introductory lesson. It was designed as a pretty useful tool, including pages for students to jot down notes, things they wanted to remember or just their own thoughts and feelings. By the time he'd finished handing these out it should be time for lesson, and hopefully all the students would be here ready...

Savannah - Storm House
After relaxing in her dorm for a while and meeting her new dorm mates - a Lapras Gijinka and a Wingull Gijinka who had run in to introduce themselves before going off again, giggling about a dreamy Milotic Gijinka they'd seen in the Great Hall - Savannah looked over at Raichu, reaching out and petting the top of his head lightly.

"Better get going to lesson huh Rai? Don't want to be late for our first day..."

"Nope," agreed Raichu, a slight frown on his face, "then again...I always imagine these introductory classes to be an ever so slight waste of time. What are they going to tell us about? Things we already know?" Savannah tutted at Raichu's reaction and rolled her eyes.

"Raichu...if they weren't useful lessons then they wouldn't teach them us...now come on, we can go and wait for Floyd and the others in the hall and go to lesson with them...if we're in time obviously!" she stated pointedly, walking out of the room and wrapping her tail around Raichu, dragging the reluctant pokemon with her. Once in the entrance hall, she looked over to the stairs to the Boys Dorms, hoping that she hadn't already missed Floyd...she didn't know anybody else here and was feeling somewhat on edge...

Melissa sighed to herself, having left small piles of books on every table. Kids would be arriving soon, if they weren't on their way already. She walked by the windowpane. This would be more fun if Andrea was here to spin around the room like a crazy bird... But she wasn't and moping didn't suit the young woman. So she went to plant herself behind the desk again, this time with her feet off the desk. Though that was fun though, she could freely admit that.

Taking a few deep breaths, Melissa closed her eyes and began to meditate. Nobody believed she actually did this but it was a lot easier than faking calm. She wasn't nervous. They were a bunch of brats, even the ones that were larger than she was. Her build was small, wiry, easy to hug. Her father had called it something else. Well, there was a reason she didn't go home. Focusing on the sound of the dripping water fountain, she decided to relax until the students arrived.

~~

Ethan quietly walked into the room, instantly making himself small and unnoticeable after the Nidoking had given him the book. Good, he threw his old one somewhere. Leafia would have glared him a seat but decided it wasn't worth it. No need to start a fight, even if they could win it. They sat at a small desk in the back, Ethan looking twitchy from his corner. It was a good spot to prevent all-out assault, if it came to it. He ignore the jeers and shouts of people around him, along with the chatter. It was too loud. Surely Gijinka had sensitive enough ears to shut up and not shout. Leafia guessed not and decided to wait for the lecture to start before maiming someone with a Leaf Blade.

((@ tenthcompanion-I read what you said on my pro., I usually don't fully blown read every post, so I guess I skimmed over it))

Lex and I waited for about 10 minutes as students pilled into the room. I saw Professor Mckenzie at the front of the room waiting for the rest of the students to enter. It was starting to get cramped in the common room so Lex and I walked out the door to get some breathing room. We took a seat out side the door for a few minutes and hung out. "So how do you like Lysander and Weavile?" I asked Lex. "Their pretty cool." Lex replied. Lex seemed tired from everything that has been going on today. I admit I was pretty tired to, I couldn't wait to go to our rooms and sleep.

I saw Savannah looking up the boy's stairs. I wondered why. "Come on, lets go say hi." Lex suggested. He never really waits for a response from me. He already began to scamp over so I followed. I sure was glad I had more friends. Today was going very well.
"Hey Savannah" I said, "How's the room going?"

Anila could see that quite a few students had already gathered in the common room. She could recognize a few students that had attended the academy the last couple years, plus a bunch of new faces. Vincent the Gyarados was already causing trouble, as per usual. She noticed the Luxray boy who had been talking to Vincent go downstairs to speak to a Raichu girl. They had better get back up here soon. Anila checked her watch. Actually, now would be a perfect time to start filing into the classroom. "Alright everyone, listen up!" She waited a few moments until the students were silent. "If you'd all follow me into the main lecture hall and take a seat. The introductory class will be starting shortly." She projected her voice well, so her words would be heard by the pair of students at the bottom of the stairs. With that done, she led the way to the main lecture room while Shaye surveyed the crowd of students from her place near the window.

-----

Melanie had been relaxing on her bed for about fifteen minutes when she heard a light knock on her door. Confused, she got up to see who it could be. She opened the door, revealing a little pink haired girl standing in front of her. She couldn't be more than ten years old. "Um... hi?" she said to the girl.

"Hello, miss. My name is Amy. I'm sorry to bug you, but I was just wondering if you had a roommate yet. I arrived a bit late, so most rooms are already full. If you don't have a roommate, could I maybe share this room with you? I'm not super noisy or messy or anything, so I'm sure I wouldn't be too much of a bother."

Mel sighed inwardly. She had kind of been hoping to have a room to herself, but there was no way she could turn down such a cute little kid. "Uh, yeah sure. Of course you can share the room. I mean... what would I use two beds for anyway?" She moved away from the door, making space for Amy to move through.

"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" Amy's face lit up with a huge grin. She went over to the other bed and placed her suitcase there. Before Melanie closed the door, a tiny little green bird hopped through the door after Amy. It was a Natu. Obviously Amy was a psychic-type gijinka. "Oh, hi Cleo!" she picked up the bird and kissed it on the beak before turning back to Melanie. "This is my Natu, Cleo. And I never asked... what was your name?"

"Melanie. I'm Melanie. I guess you can call me Mel, though." After introducing herself, her gaze fell on the clock that was on the table near Amy's bed. It was time to get going. "Um, we should probably get to class now. Don't wanna be late." The Natu gijinka agreed and practically skipped out of the room ahead of her. 'Wow, she must be really eager to learn..." thought Mel. She re-tied her eyepatch onto her head and followed Amy to the lecture hall.

Jake Green - Earth House Lecture Hall 1
"You all know that you are different," Jake began his lecture stating the obvious, moving away from the lectern and his carefully prepared notes as he surveyed the students - so many of them still looked afraid, confused, forlorn...he didn't need notes. To him, teaching was not about reproducing his notes out in sound...he spoke from the heart to his students, telling them what HE thought they wanted and needed to know, not what some Senior Management bodies who had shut themselves away in their HQ figured they should know. "You, Gijinka, so often spurned by society for no reason at all apart for fear...you have powers that can change the world if you so desire it. THIS is why you are cast asunder - not because you are freaks or weirdos or whatever the scared humans may wish to call you."

He turned to the board and drew a double helix of DNA, highlighting a certain section of it with a rough scribble and drawing a line away from it to label it. He turned back to the students and gestured up to the diagram, "Can anybody tell me what this is?" A small cough sounded from the middle row before someone shouted "DNA, Sir," and Jake nodded. "Correct. DNA, genes, the building blocks of life. Now, for you Gijinka, there is a very small isolated part of your DNA that is different. How it is different affects the kind of Pokemon you take after, but there is no fixed reason as to why I should be a Nidoking Gijinka whilst you are all different to me and to each other. Scientists have studied this for decades - there are limitless combinations of DNA in each and every one of you, but in ALL of you, this section of your DNA is exactly the same. The number 14 genome. It is the same in you, in me, in everyone, and we believe that the rest of our genetic make-up determines the Pokemon we emulate."

He paused, waiting to see if there were any questions following his speech - he didn't want to run ahead with himself here...

Savannah
Smiling at Floyd, Savannah was so grateful she hadn't missed him and she could sense the same sentiment flowing from Raichu. As he asked how her room was she grinned and nodded slowly, biting her bottom lip slightly. That was a really good question...and she wasn't completely sure how to answer it.

"Based on my room-mates I think this year will be...eventful," she decided on finally, grinning at Floyd, "Who are you bunking in with? Anyone you already know?" she was interested to see if the boy's dorms had the same number of people per room as the girl's dorms...surely one would have initially thought to put fewer girls than boys together, but Savannah supposed that putting a lot of boys in the same room would lead to disastrous lapses in hygeine standards...

Raichu looked at Lex shyly, finding that he wanted to say something but couldn't figure out what to say. He asked Savannah through their bond, and Savannah turned to her lightning mouse with a surprised expression - Raichu, though generally timid, never usually had to ask her for something to say - she knew him well enough to know that he had enough opinions to think of something.

"Just say what you want to say! Hello would be a good place to start..." advised Savannah, watching as Raichu stepped forward to Lex and cleared his throat. "Hi, I'm Raichu...uh...can our trainers understand us and each other? Being electric types and all?"

"How the room going?" She turned and looked at me with a smile. It to her a minute to answer. "Based on my room-mates I think this year will be...eventful," Savannha finally replied. "Who are you bunking in with? Anyone you already know?" I knew Lysander, and of coarse Weavile. "Yeah, Im bunking with my friend I met when we got off the boat. As of right now It's just me and him."
She Turned and looked at her Raichu. I guess the Raichu was talking to her.
She had a surprised face when she looked at him.

"Hi, I'm Raichu...uh...can our trainers understand us and each other? Being electric types and all?" Asked the Raichu. Hi Im Lex, as for hearing pokemon I think they can only understand the species of Gijinka they are. Im pretty sure they can understand each other." Lex Replied

I heard a voice up stairs "If you'd all follow me into the main lecture hall and take a seat. The introductory class will be starting shortly." Said the voice. It sounded like Professor McKenzie. "I think we should probably head to the Lecture hall" I said to Savannah with a grin.

Flare zoned out Prof. Green's voice. She had already heard all of this before so she didn't feel she needed to listen. She scratched Blaze around his horns while stairing out the window at the birds flitting about outside. She wished she could be out there right now, flying about with Blaze in a mock battle. But nooo, even those who had already heard all this stuff had to listen because the newbies didn't know. Flare wanted action, and she wasn't going to get it sittiny around here. She felt a weight on her shoulder and turned her head to see that Blaze had fallen asleep and was now resting his head on her shoulder. She smiled and patted the dragon than turned her attention back to the professor. With nothing else to do she may as well listen to what he was saying.

((short post, but hopefully this will get things moving again))

Over the last five minutes, students had been filing into the classroom. The seats were pretty full now; it was probably a good time to start class. Professor McKenzie signaled for everyone to stop talking so she could get started. "So... who here has been bullied because of their powers? Cast out? Neglected?" The majority of the students raised their hands. "This is only because they are frightened of us. Humans are afraid of our powers. They are afraid of our potential, so they taunt us and chase us away. We are not freaks. We are not mutants or abominations or whatever else they say." A few of the senior students were nodding in agreement, having heard this story before. "The way I see it, we are just different in a unique sort of way. Instead of being black or white, short or tall, blonde or brunette, we have wings." She stretched her own long brown wings out for people to see. "Or tails... claws... maybe a bit of telekinesis. Now, I don't know the exact biology like Professor Green does, but I know that it's only a tiny bit of DNA that separates us from humans. We are no better or worse than them." Anila paused mid-speech, giving time for students to comment or question.

((Hi all, sorry this thread seems to have died recently, but I'm involved in 2 other kinda full-on RPs and I just don't have the time or energy to GM this one too, as I've been asked to GM another RP that I'm more involved in.

So what I'm meaning to say is that I, unfortunately, am resigning as GM of this RP. I hope someone takes over, as this RP definitely has potential, but I'm just not the person for the role right now.

Thanks guys, good luck.

(I'll post the third child at a sooner date...)

Name: Terrance Dokusei
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: Terrance is a loner, and doesn't like people. He's gotten so used to being shunned by humans and gijinka alike that he now actively shuns them, snarling vicious insults at anyone who so much as looks at him wrong. He's almost impossible to get close to because he's so angry all the time, the result of crushing depression left to stagnate for far too long. However, deep in his heart, he wishes he could have just one friend.

History: Terrance used to be an average human-looking boy, his only indication of his true species being the shape of his eyes. One day when he was seven, however, he began to smell horrible, so horrible that plants would wither in his wake. Only when his father became deathly ill with a strain of virus that only Muk can carry did Terrance's true identity as a gijinka come to light. His family abandoned him in a sewer in Academy Village where he thrived off of trash and pollution for several months before being found by the Academy staff and brought to the school. Even other gijinkas tend to avoid him because they can't stand his smell and are afraid of contracting the poisons that live in Terrance's skin. Alone and friendless, Terrance shuts down completely socially, resisting every effort made to help him break out of his shell.

Pokemon: Muk

Abilities: Though he usually can pass for human despite the glop making up his hair, Terrance can melt into a formless pile of sludge at will, allowing him to fit into small places. He can also infect several deadly illnesses with a touch, though since being at the Academy he has learned to control his ability to release such toxins, poisoning only enemies. Unfortunately, he cannot control the unbearable stench that comes from his body. He can also use any move a Muk can learn naturally (not counting TMs)
Other: Terrance lives off of sewage, oil, and pollution, and can only eat human food if it's rotting.

Pokemon Signup:
Name: Sludge
Species: Muk
Gender: Male

Personality: Sludge is very protective of his owner, but more level-headed and less quick to an unstoppable rage. He empathizes with the pain and loneliness Terrance feels but won't admit to and does his best to try and ease it, but there's so much he can do.

Moves: Acid Armor, Sludge Bomb, Gunk Shot, Minimize
