@Xilfer - I've volunteered to GM this RP - so yes, it is active, but I'm not sure if I'll need to gain the approval of a mod or something..?
@Jumboshrimp -thanks for changing your Pokemon SU - I think going to an Academy (which is ultimately, let's face it, a school) with one of the most elusive Legendaries would be a bit too much of a god mod.
I can only say that you're pending at the moment though - you need to list the abilities and type of your character, otherwise it'd be like a normal human being going to a Gijinka Academy that doesn't really make sense.
Okay, so as I said I am volunteering to GM this thread, and I figured that to prove myself as a decent-good GM I'd better post some ideas/plot points I can see for going forward. Generally, I don't tend to dictate the future plot progression, but ultimately I think any RP with a solid enough foundation, with enough backstory to feed off will provide more than enough Plot-Bunny food for everyone to eat to contribute later on :)
The Gijinka Academy - (Please see original description above.)
It is true that the Academy has usually succeeded in acting as a force for good and weeding out any individuals with less-than-honourable intentions. However, anybody familiar with the Academy can see that strange changes are afoot...in the coming Academic year, a number of changes have been announced by the Senior Management team.
The Senior Management themselves seem to have withdrawn to the comfort of their modern, central Academy office block. Unlike grass-roots Professors, the Senior Management team - comprising of the Principal, his Deputies and Support Staff - never sullied themselves with the day to day teaching and operation of the school. This was never for any ominous reason, down to the simple fact that running a secret Academy for Gijinkas who are scorned and oppressed by a hostile society takes a lot of time and effort from the people in charge. Now, though, the Senior Management rarely communicate down to staff and students in the Academy, meetings are held infrequently and often at bizarre times of day with the three top Professors in the school, and the outcomes or agendas are kept strictly between them.
After a series of restructuring meetings over the summer break, some fundamental changes have been made to the Academy.
Houses:
[SPOILER}Firstly, instead of a general student body all students have, and will be, allocated to Houses based along type lines. The Senior Management memo states: 'The House system will improve standards of education and attainment in the school, pushing the capabilities and merits of our students ever upward. The system will cement community ties and the bonds of friendship within and between types and will help our Senior Staff monitor the progress of students and steer the direction of the Academy.'
The Three Houses are organised as follows:
Storm House: Water, Ice, Electric and Flying types
Earth House: Grass, Ground, Rock, Bug and Fire types
Shadow House: Ghost, Dark, Psychic and Normal types
And each House is headed up by one of the three senior Professors - all Gijinkas of a type belonging to the House they mentor. This Mentoring scheme was designed by the Senior Staff to help Gijinkas who may have been spurned and damaged by society to develop their social skills and help them integrate. [/SPOILER]
Spoiler:
Classes:
Classes are conducted both Generally and by House as per the below list- General: Pokemon Care and Breeding
Typology and Technique
Training and Evolution
Gijinka Geneaology
Gijinka History and Changing Attitudes
House: Ability Development and Usage
Type Advantages and Disadvantages
Type History - Individual or Group Project - based on your Type, the topic of which can be decided by yourself. House Professor will supervise this.
General classes are shared inbetween the 3 Professors, and House-specific classes are conducted by House tutors within their own Houses.
House Points System:
Spoiler:
House Points are accumulated throughout the year and the House with the most accumulated points at the end of the year, wins a trip to a region of their choice and the House Cup ((Yes, I did steal that straight from Harry Potter ^.^))
Points are given as such -
Academic Merits and Participation:
Judged by the length and quality of posts, in class-situations and generally throughout the RP. Quality is more important than length of course. These points will be decided by the GM and other players taking on Professor roles.
0 points - A one-liner or post with no depth or character/plot advancement
1 point - Some depth and detail, but a lot of room for improvement
2 points - A good post, provides detail and development but could go further
3 points - Brilliant post! Great contribution to the roleplay.
Individual Project contributions:
If you post at least one 250 word post on your Type History project every 2 weeks, you get an additional 10 points. If you make longer, more detailed posts or post on this more frequently, then the GM will decide on how many extra points the post deserves.
GM and Professors will attempt to calculate the points total at the end of every day/every 2 days.
Potential Plot Progression:
Spoiler:
It turns out that the Senior Management have, for reasons unknown, been splitting types into Houses in order to create tension and conflict between different types. The Professors, although separate from the Senior Management, may or may not have been complicit in these plans - it is as yet unsure.
As time passes, the House-type prejudices become even more entrenched in the school until, eventually, the feeling of freedom that was originally the dominant sense in the Academy has practically evaporated and the Academy is one wrong gesture, one wrong look away from breaking into a Gijinka war.
Will you find yourself on the side of the Antagonists? Will you organise House armies, ready to fight to defend yourselves?
Will you go with your instincts, knowing that something is fundamentally wrong in the school, and investigate to find out what that may be? Will you refuse to fight your peers, and try to persuade them to fight the Senior Staff who have created this hostility?
Only time will tell.
Those are my ideas so far :) Please give me your feedback - I will take on the role of one of the Professors, and if two more players could volunteer to double-up as a Professor that would be fantastic. I'd rather players opt to be Professors of a House different to their Student House, but of course only if this is practical.
Or if anyone would rather play a Professor purely rather than a Student, that could work too. Either way, please post in the thread :)
Suggestion: The senior management and staff could subtly influence rivalry between the groups and cause tension perhaps. It could also bring regional attention if the tension grows into conflict. For what purpose I can't think of yet but...
And there's a group of students suspicious of the staff that gathers over the course of the year?
Mod: Um PM Red's Hawt Chibi Pellippers. I'm pretty sure that can get you a response.
eh, i'll join for the heck of it. This is my first, so..... yeah.......

@Baladamy - Thanks for your SU! I have to put you as pending for the time being - I just don't feel that one line on personality gives us enough insight to your character, and your history section could be extended too. If you can give us a bit more on that then you are 100% accepted :)
@Xilfer - Okay, the way I saw it it was 250 words over 2 weeks...thats less than 25 words a day if you spent a bit of time on it, I figured it could be a fun addition, gives us something to work on. But I take your point - how about if I reduce it to 150 words every 2 weeks?
Like Xilfer, I'm not sure about the extra project, but I'd like to start asap. I think we have enough members, though I'm not exactly sure how School RPs work, so I'll need to watch everyone else get prepared first~
@SweetDreams - Okay, if that's the consensus then we'll forget the extra project for the time being.
@Everyone - do we have any more volunteers for Professors? Need 2 more before we can start really...I don't particularly want to be playing 3 Professors and my own student character too!!
If we get at least one more volunteer for a Professor then I'll post the first-day setting and my own introduction and we can get under way!
,
@Jumboshrimp -thanks for changing your Pokemon SU - I think going to an Academy (which is ultimately, let's face it, a school) with one of the most elusive Legendaries would be a bit too much of a god mod.

@Fuyu - Thank you!! :) No it's okay - I think that:
a. We've all made good enough SU's to be trusted with our Professor characters
and b. I think their personalities will come across easily enough in the first few posts.
So unless you want to do a brief background post (with age, appearance, that kind of thing) then you're fine to proceed without a sign up :)
@Baladamy - that's fantastic, thanks for that! When the introductory post has been made, please feel free to start posting :)
@Fuyu - Good stuff! I look forward to finding out what she's like, she sounds very interesting!!
@Everyone - thanks for letting me be the GM for this RP guys - I'll try my hardest to make it fun for everyone! I'll post the Introduction and Setting post in a separate post now.

The day was a blissfully beautiful one, observed Professor Jake Green as he sipped a cappucino quietly in the Academy staff room. The Staff Room was on the 7th level of the monumental Academy Central HQ - the official name for the Senior Management and Teacher digs - and afforded a gorgeous view over the Gijinka haven that was the Academy.
First day of term was always an enthralling one for Jake - the new intake, the current students who were growing and learning more and more every day, students he had seen grow before his very eyes. He was only young himself, for a Professor, having graduated from this very Academy only 5 years ago. At 24 years of age, he had completed his further research, specialising in the isolation and unravelling of Gijinka DNA, isolating specific mutations and looking at how they differed from human DNA, and looking into potential causes for this mutation. It was difficult work, demanding and highly frustrating a vast proportion of the time. Whenever it appeared as though he was getting close to an answer, it slipped away from him, lost in the vast sea of possibilities and questions surrounding the nature of Gijinka and their origins.
Luckily, this research could be conducted alongside his role as a Professor at the Academy. In his own years here, Jake had fallen completely in love with the school, and knew that no matter what he decided to do with his life eventually teaching had to remain the main passion and focus for him. He was ecstatic at the reforms put in place by Senior Management over the summer - now on top of his teaching duties he could take more of a mentoring role with the students, being able to work closely with his House to help them come to terms with any foundational problems they had undoubtedly had growing up.
He knew all about those, he reflected as he finished his coffee and put it down on the table in front of him, crossing his legs and daydreaming out of the large window as he jiggled his foot up and down. Born a Nidoking Gijinka, he was spurned for his purple skin, horn and long tail, remembering oh too well the evil glances, the whispered denouncements before eventually his parents decided they couldn't cope with having the shame of a Gijinka in the family. He was one of the lucky ones - they cared about him enough to send him to a home for Gijinka, but that itself was a horrendous place to grow up...the staff there, resentful of their own Gijinka heritage and the fact that they'd been forced into a job they didn't want to do, didn't particularly bother themselves with caring for the children under their tutelage. As such, the children grew up harbouring their own resentments, oftentimes turning to Underground crime syndicates, unable and unwilling to attempt to integrate into any kind of society.
Before his trip down memory lane progressed any further, Jake was luckily interrupted by a bell, signalling the arrival of the students. This year, instead of taking part in a mass orientation assembly, Senior Management had decided to take a back seat and let Mentor Professors take control of their Houses from the start...despite how strange Jake found their unwillingness to integrate with the new intake at all this year, he had to admit it was a good idea. Best to let the students settle in slowly with one constant port of call.
Jake made his way to the port of the Academy slowly, wondering who else would be House mentors - he was good friends with the rest of the tutors here at the Academy but he'd been so busy with his own research over summer - as they had - he hadn't seen many of them. He was Mentoring Earth House this year, which would house all Grass, Rock, Ground and Fire type pokemon - as a Ground Gijinka himself it only seemed appropriate.
Stopping at the port, he saw the large vessel in the distance, drawing ever closer. He couldn't stop the smile on his face spreading, looking forward to meeting his new students.
On the ship-
Savannah was not nervous - not like that Ekans Gijinka whose head was hanging over the railing of the boat deck beside her window. She watched him placidly, her tail twitching slightly as he drew his head back before spewing out into the crystal waters once more. She felt sorry for whatever Water Pokemon that hit...she'd watched him gorging down on the Chilli dogs at lunch and so it could not be pretty.
No, if anything Savannah was excited. She'd spent so long living underground with her Gijinka group, she was looking forward to meeting new faces and seeing new things. She'd never heard of the region of Unova before she applied to the Academy, but at first sight it looked beautiful, green and largely just like the Kanto region she'd left behind. It was saddening to think they weren't going to the mainland - perhaps they'd have chance later on in the year - but Savannah understood why.
It baffled her still why she and her fellow Gijinka were spurned by society. If not for the reason they shared (largely) the same humanity as each other, she failed to see how Gijinka were anything but useful to humanity. Perhaps their paranoia led them to believe that a Gijinka revolution was only a matter of time and they attempted to crush this out of them...but again, Savannah failed to see how such treatment could prevent a revolution. Quite the contrary - the Gijinka-Human violence she'd witness was BECAUSE of this treatment...but until she was in any position to change things it was her place to sit quietly, bite her tongue, learn what she could and then start improving the hand her kind had been dealt.
Raichu jolted her from her thoughts, prodding her in the leg and pointing out of the window. She followed his gesture and smiled genuinely - the Academy was in sight. As much as she enjoyed this boat ride, she was looking forward in getting to know her new school. The ship itself though...she hadn't been able to hold back the appreciative whistle when she'd first boarded - if this was the standard they had to look forward to at the school, then she was going to enjoy herself here she suspected.
Looking round, she saw Gijinka and Pokemon that she'd never encountered before. The ship had set off from Sinnoh, through to Kanto and Johto, then Hoenn before starting the final leg to Unova, and the new faces and Pokemon had blown Savannah's mind - she'd never been out of Kanto before, hardly had she ventured away from the routes around Viridian City in the latter part of her life - and though she wanted to dive right into the social pool and get chatting away to everyone her timidity had held her back. She assumed that it'd be easier getting to know people in her House - Storm House - who shared the same type and abilities as her. And then there were classes of course, the list she had received before her journey was extensive - it didn't seem like there was a part of the Pokemon and Gijinka worlds that they were not going to learn about.
As the ship drew closer, she looked around her at the others on the ship. Some looked green with nausea...others were just green like the Pokemon they were travelling with. Others seemed nervous...others just had pure excitement on their faces. It was going to be a learning curve, that was for sure...
"Gah! Lani!!! C'mon!!! The ship to Gijinka Academy is about to leave!!!!! Hurry up!" I bounded on the ship with Lani trailing me. I got on just in time. "Wow.... so many Gijinkas......... That's nice.... the first few seconds on the ship, and the Ekans Gijinka beside me threw up...... wow....." "Eevee Eev!" "Yeah.... thats right Lani.... Maybe I should make some friends while i still can...... Hey! how about the Raichu Gijinka over there!" *Runs over to Raichu Gijinka* "Hey! What's up? My name is Kai!"
My sister ,Angelica, came along the boat to say good bye when we got to the island. It really comforted me that she came along. All though it reminds me how much Im going to miss her when I leave. I sure am glad my parents and brother didn't come along. My brother ,Timmy, used me as a personal phone charger and my parents used me to charge up laptops, light bulbs, the usually. Angelica on the other hand, actually treated me like family. "Floyd, Floyd!" Angelica shouted, "Yea?" I responded. "You should come meet some people over here." I walked to where she was nervous of what my soon to be "family" will think of me. When I turned the corner there was tons and tons of Gijinka. Every type you could think of was here. From water to dark to electric to fire. I met a few people and went to the front of the ship and looked over the edge. The island was in sight. My sister walked up behind me. "You know Im gonna miss you" she said. I stared blankly at the water. We arrived at the island and undocked. We unloaded bags for about an hour. When we finished
unloading she looked at me gave me a huge hug and she boarded the ship and left. I felt like I got hit with hyper beam in my stomach. I felt terrible.
@Baladamy - Thanks for your SU! I have to put you as pending for the time being - I just don't feel that one line on personality gives us enough insight to your character, and your history section could be extended too. If you can give us a bit more on that then you are 100% accepted :)

Lysander looked from the boat's front, over to the school. This was his fifth year at the Gijinka Academy, and his nineteenth birthday was coming up. He shifted his attention away from the school, which was nearing quickly. And looked around. Around him were various Gijinkas, some he had seen before, some he hadn't. Barfing his heart out on the deck was an Ekans Gijinka known as Jonathan. Jonathan was relatively new, only joining last term. He had a bad case of motion sickness, it seemed. He wouldn't stop throwing up. Like last term. Watching him nervously was a young girl, a Raichu Gjinka, as she had a Raichu right beside her. They both looked pretty nervous. "Yeah, well, they have a right to be. That place is more pressuring than any normal school." Lysander thought. He turned around and looked at the water again. For a moment, he thought he could see a Magikarp Gijinka swim by, but it must've been his imagination. "Forget about me, did you?" came a voice from beside him. Lysander looked to his right and saw his Weavile there. Looking at him annoyingly. "You've been pretty much ignoring me since we got on the damn boat." she complained. "Well, sorr-rry, I was just checking out the new recruits, that's all." Lysander said back, defending himself. "Oh, like the idiot Ekans?" she spat, as they walked along. Lysander was used to this attitude. If Weavile didn't get what she wanted, she was always like this. "He's not an idiot." Lysander replied as they sat down on a table. "I know you think so, because I know you all too well, Lu." she said, ridiculing him. "Don't call me Lu!" Lysander exclaimed, causing a few people around him to stare at them.
Finally, the boat started to arrive at the dock. It was obviously slowing down, you could tell because Jonathan was not throwing up so much anymore. "Looks like another year of learning." Weavile mumbled. "Well, it can't be that bad, can it?"
....... she didn't respond..... typical. All my life i have been ignored by people because of being a Gijinka. Now even Gijinkas are annoying me!!! Gah..... Ah well..... I got my Laptop out because on the boat is said free Wi-Fi.... I looked at the e-mail the Academy sent me. It said I was in the Shadow house...... Hope I get a friend, That Raichu Gijinka was just plain mean. Either that, or she was lost staring at the Ekans Gijinka Barf Everywhere. This Weavile Gijinka looked over my shoulder and I pretended not to notice. I quickly noticed, Weaviles are Dark types, so he should be in my House. So, I introduced myself, hoping not to get ignored or shuned.... "Ummmmm, Hi? My name is Kai, and I think we're in the same house." I waited eagerly for a response
Glancing up out of the window, Savannah noticed a Weavile Gijinka who didn't look too much older than herself peering at her curiously from the deck...ah! He'd caught her staring at the Ekans Gijinka with open disgust...she hoped he wasn't a best friend of the Barfy Boy and was planning on charging in to give her a piece of his mind...this seemed unlikely, however, as he was distracted by the Weavile who joined him...that must be his partner. She wondered what House he would be sorted into...hers covered Ice-type Gijinka but she knew that Weavile was a part Ice part Dark type, so he could just as easily be in Shadow House...what an interesting predicament for Double-type Gijinka!
"Lucky for us you're just a lightning mouse, hey Raichu?" she smiled down at her friend, patting his head condescendingly just as he hated. He shook her hand off his head and scowled up at her, cheeks crackling with electricity in warning. "Don't do that! I'll shock you!" he threatened as he did 4 or 5 times a day when Sav annoyed him. She raised an eyebrow and her own cheeks crackled with electricity similarly "Then I'll shock you back and I'm much bigger and uglier than you my little friend!" Raichu scoffed and rolled his eyes. "You sure got the uglier bit right...hey! We're getting close now!" Savannah looked up out of the window - he was right!
"We'd better get moving then..." she mumbled, she didn't want to end up stuck in a herd of Gijinka moving at snails' pace toward the Academy. With Gijinka it was way too easy to hurt/be hurt completely by accident...She swung her bag over her shoulder, tail uncurling from where it had been resting around her leg and swaying back and forth as thought stretching. Checking she had everything, Savannah dodged other students as she made her way out to the deck, standing closer to the Ekans Gijinka than she'd have preferred...he seemed to be throwing up less now though, so it should be safe.
Wind blowing through her hair, Savannah smiled as she leant over the side of the deck at the rapidly approaching Academy - she was feeling excited, more so than ever in her life, and couldn't wait to finally land.
At the Port: "Here they come!" thought Jake happily, waving towards the ship. The students at the front, and Gijinka who were designed with brilliant eyesight, were close enough to be able to wave back at him. He looked around to see where the other Professors were, he was really curious to find out who had been appointed to mentor the other two houses.
((Sorry for the slow pace of this boat guys, thought it would be a good idea for all introductory posts to be made on the ship rather than once arrived!))
