I was conducting an expirement the other day...i was trying to see if a pokemon could mate successfully with it's grandchild...to do this i had to take a Toxicroak (the son of my Machamp, that was born a couple months ago), and mate it with a female Cacturne...and what resulted was Machamp's granddaughter Cacnea...now to finalize the expirement i mate Machamp with it's granddaughter and to my surprise they made an egg...if i could get rid off eggs i would cuz i don't believe in incest. lol...so what do ya'll think? do you think the breeding rules of pokemon should be more strict when it comes to related pokemon breeding?

I'm fairly certain that Nintendo's made it so that Pokemon aren't able to be bred with their children. And that's pretty much as far as you actually need to go, since it'd be just a little bit unreasonable to have to mark everything further down. "Yes. We will make it so that the game will be able to tell if you are breeding your Pokemon with their descendants thirty-two generations down the line."

i kno but grandchildren are still a lil bit too close....maybe they should mark it until like the 5th cousin or whateva....

And how, pray tell, would the game determine which Pokemon are the children of which? There would have to be more data on the already jam-packed game card - data which the developers can use for a useful feature, perhaps.

Oh, and I presume you're against the concept of having a Ditto to breed with. Onoes, adultery!

well as long as any of ditto's offspring can't breed with each other then i have no problem with it being a whore.

Yeah. Cause Nintendo programmed the game to keep up with family ties. >.>

The game doesn't know these things. If you don't like incest, then don't breed like that. Except Ditto...Ditto's a harlot.

oops. I have to retract my previous comment: They did USED to have an Anti-Inbreeding system, but removed it in Gen III. this is from bulbapedia on breeding:

No negative effects occur from inbreeding Pokémon in Generation III and Generation IV, despite this being impossible in Generation II.

    The Whole article:https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Breeding

So if they could do it in Generation 2, then why couldn't they do it in 3 & 4?

Presumably because it was an inconvenience to those who accidentally put a parent Pokemon and a child Pokemon into the Daycare, which would have slowed the process of breeding down considerably.
