    Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why the Pokemon Games have the Elite 4 instead of the League Tournament like in the show? I think it would be more interesting to have a tournament where the opponents you face are somewhat random, that would make it more exciting. Thank you.

    Because the games were made before the anime and the E4 became a staple part of the game's core design. The tournament part wouldn't make much sense in a longer run as if you failed, you'd have to start over again, but why would there be another tournament starting up right after the last one ended? E4 is easier to do.
