Sorry that I've been away for so long! I got into an accident and had to take it easy for a while. During that time I was able to work on some more fics and edit this one. enjoy!

    Pokemon: Level Z
    (Relaunch)

    Episode 1: The Shard Pieces

It was a typical Summer day in the world of Pokemon. The sun was bright, there was a windy breeze, and the land was nice and green.

A small Budew decided to take a nature walk in the woods. After packing an apple for lunch and some supplies, it was on its way.
The tiny grass Pokemon walked through the woods for an hour before it found a nice big rock to have its lunch on.

After sitting down and unpacking, Budew began to feast on the apple it brought.

'The landscape looks its best during this time of the year.' Budew thought.

As it gazed upon the area, its eyes closed in upon a shiny object lying on the ground.

"What is that?" Budew wondered as it climbed down and approached the item.

When the object came into full view, Budew realized that it was a shiny shard piece.

"Wow, that's a pretty piece." It murmured while glancing around, looking to see if anyone was nearby. Not a single Pokemon was around.

"Well… if nobody is looking for it…" Budew began; "then I guess I can have it."

The seedling Pokemon lifted up the shard piece between its clamps, packed up its things, and started home.

However, while it was walking down the path, the sound of landing footsteps reached its ears.

Budew turned around to see itself staring at a tall hooded figure.

"Hand over the Mystic shard piece." The figure demanded in a croaked voice.

Budew was very frightened by the figure, but somehow these brave words flew out of its mouth:

"I don't see your name written on it."

The figure didn't respond it just stood there, staring at the Pokemon who just sassed it.

"Fine," The figure said suddenly. "Have it your way."

It was all so fast for Budew. The strange being rushed forward and kicked the shard piece out of small Pokemon's grasp high into the air.

"Yow!!" Budew cried, for its clamps were in great pain from the strike.
It was too occupied with that to notice the figure raise its hand towards it and concentrate a ball of energy.
After the pain calmed, Budew turned just to see the energy ball being launched right at its face.

The ball of energy caused a tremendous, wide radius explosion on contact.
The ground trembled and debris flew everywhere.

When the destruction finally died down, the figure remained standing, unharmed by the shock.
It raised its right hand and caught the falling Shard Piece it kicked into the air.

"At last, I hold one of the Shard pieces." It said.

The hooded figure took off into the sky, leaving behind a ruined area and the charred remains of the Budew…

Meanwhile, miles away from the horrific incident, a great festival was taking place. Today was 'Legend Day'. Centuries ago, legendary Pokemon came from the Heavens and destroyed an evil that threatened the world. The Pokemon on land were so grateful, that they held this festival to thank the legendaries.

However… none of them knew that the festivities would be cut short by a power far greater than theirs.

    "I win!" A Chimchar cried at a ball-hurdling contest.
The fire Pokemon's friends, Piplup, Treecko, Aipom, and Pikachu clapped for their pal.

"That's a new world record!" Pikachu claimed as Chimchar took its prize.
    "You'll be famous!" Piplup exclaimed.
"Aright, alright, enough of the praising," Treecko snapped. "We're going to miss the main event."

Although the fun activities were important, the real reason was to honor the Pokemon from the past for what they had done to save the world.

Inside a large coliseum built long ago, Pokemon from all over the world come to see what the gift that the Legendary Pokemon had given the earth Pokemon before they departed, a small Shard Piece that glittered and Shined brightly. The legends told them to keep it safe from all harm.
Without asking any questions, the Pokemon agreed and honored the treasure.

The five friends hurried over to the coliseum and found front seats just before the late crowd of Pokemon rushed inside.

Everyone was shouting, fighting, and shoving to find a front see.
"Good thing we got here on time." Pikachu commented.

When the large crowd finally settled down, the Mayor of the region, Slowking, began to speak.

"I'm glad that all of you could make it." It said through a homemade voice-amplifier.

"As you may know, centuries ago, our world faced extinction to an evil force that outclassed us in every way. However, Pokemon from the heavens came and saved us all from the evil. We were so grateful, that we couldn't express our gratitude." Slowking spoke.

"But these Legends could not stay forever, so they did gave us something to remember them."

A Duskull and Shuppet flew over to the Mayor and handed it a red, gold laced case.

"Behold!" Slowking held the box high into the air and opened it.

Inside the box, was a Shiny Shard Piece, and it was glowing brighter than usual.
The crowd marveled at the treasure given to them long ago.

"It is sad that I must take away something you are so attached to." A mysterious voice said out of nowhere.

Everyone gasped and whirled to the source of the voice.

High in the air was the figure that had attacked Budew.

The strange figure landed in front of the mayor and demanded the shard.

"Never!" Slowking cried as it closed the box and held it tightly.
"The Legends entrusted us with this treasure, and I won't let them down."

"Very well." The figure said. "I suppose this means you wish to die."

It started to charge up an energy blast.

"If you want the Shard you'll have to beat me first!" A voice called.

The figure turned to the voice, and saw a Lucario standing on the field.

"What's going on here?" Aipom cried.

i like the story so far 10/10

I do believe that you have some ways to go in developing your skill, I'm sure the reviewers here would do a better job than I at going over that so I'll just stick to what I liked and didn't like about the story itself.

I like how the pokemon seem more civilised in this, unlike many other fics where they're more like wild animals. It adds richness to the pokemon world as it brings it more to a level we humans can understand.

What I didn't like so much was that there wasn't much character development. Budew's activities and choices during the confrontation gave an indication to its chatacter, It's too early though to know whether or not Budew will be an important character so I'll leave that alone. The Slowking also seemed to show some character development which was nice, but the other pokemon however didn't seem to show much individuality at all. The hooded figure seemed a bit generic and stereotypical villan like. The hooded figure wasn't described very well - I have no idea if it was human in shape or more like a pokemon, or an animal, perhaps the only indicator that it was even bipiedal was that it had a hand.

I have no idea what meaning the shards have in the new games or the story behind the legendaries, but even if that wasn't your idea its still a good aspect to work around if you know how to do it right, and it seems you do. The idea of a fetival to honour the legenadries is a great way to bring the main characters and the villan together.

Not to diss your work, you seem to be putting far more effort in to this than a lot of writers from what I've seen. Keep at it because while there is room for improvement there's more than enough potential.

    Thanks.
This is just the first chapter of my story. The characters that play an important part in this tale will be more detailed in the next chapter.

As for the Shards: All will be revealed in due time. :)
