Lets discuss about the possiblity of a Pokemon live action movie....

Well since Transformers got a modern day remake... so why not a live action movie about Pokemon. but plotwise it should be different from Ash Ketchum's adventures.... which are boring me to death....

I am a cg artist by the way....

It would probably be an unholy abomination of film.

    Probably.

unholy abomination? Err you meant it might suck? What can suck better than Ash Ketchum's adventures.... it's time they made something new...

and also with CG realism, you make the creatures more believable for people who have never seen Pokemon thanks to some people loathe Pokemon like in some countries.

Same here, if you directed it, I would look forward to the different art style and a plot.
And maybe base it on a futuristic society like Toshihiro Ono's manga rendition of Pokémon.

But there will be some pokemon which cannot exist realistically like Jynx and some others too...

I really should make this a fanfic.

They wouldn't do it unless people started liking Pokemon again, and it stopped being, "gay" as dubbed by most in the public

i think he means it will be widley frowned down upon by crazy pplz....

Actually, Pokemon's popularity is on the rise again in the US. Young children still like it, and... actually, some high school and college students are even getting back into it, having outgrown the middle school "wanna be cool" attitude, and feeling some nostalgia.

I think it would work, if the Pokemon were done in CG. I mean, SPEED RACER is getting a live action film. That's definitely not "popular" anymore.

Oh gee... I can just see it now...

    POKEMON

    A Michael Bay film

A series in Japan, maybe (PGSM, anyone?).

But a movie? No. Please, no.

Meh, never rule these things out. though I personally wouldn't like it since the "cuteness" factor is kind of nice to have. Making it into a movie where the army is going after ray-ray probably wouldn;t be a good idea, but that's just me :P

interesting idea... but it would only work if you had an amazing director behind it. like how spielberg (sp?) co-directed transformers.

Yeah, if Spielberg directed it, I bet it'd be simply amazing.

because spielberg is the greatest director ev-uh! quick! someone write a script :P
itd be cool if they had characters completely unrelated to the anime and pikachu wasnt the mascot pokemon for a change... hmmm

    Quoted for emphasis. XD

I'm horrified at the thought. I can't get the "realistic" Pokemon pictures I've seen all over dA out of my mind when I think of a live-action movie, and it's like, ew. XD *shudders*

I'd... probably watch it anyway. But I'd still be horrified. :x

what pictures are you talking about? mind linking me?

GAY? Why the association with Gay? I cant see why.... Also I am not sure why some religion thinks Pokemon is evil or satanic?

Anyway, if Pokemon were to be made into CGI Live Action, there is going to be a bit more blood and slime in the battles and also the diets of the Pokemon are going to be more realistic.

It would probably be an unholy abomination of film.

    Probably.

    ROFLOL X______X

Oh my god, that made me laugh sooo hard. lol
And I think that your are right, I can't see Pokemon having a movie like that

But I will say one thing. I wouldn't mind seeing Gyarados, Tyranitar, and Houndoom in super realistic form. (O)_(O) Talk about awesome

Maybe Ash's adventures in CG lol.

Seriously, CG/Actor Pokemon movie would suck more than the current episodes.
Pokemon Vgs are fun and all, but it's going down with the Anime/

Well who said that you have to use Ash's adventures.... you can try to ground Pokemon in the Real world....

After seeing the live-action Sailormoon series and trailers for the live-action Cutie Honey series, I really don't think live-action Pokemon (or anime in general) is completely impossible to pull off. Yes, it'd need a bit of CGing, but there are ways of doing so without making it completely tacky. I mean, if Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon could pull off the senshi's attacks and a talking cat and still have a good number of fans, the same could probably be done combining the two to make Ash's Pikachu.

As for the story, given the quality of Pokemon's story to begin with (as in, it's a show aimed at younger audiences, so it's not exactly Hamlet), the CG + live actor combination probably won't kill it.

'Course, I don't know about a full series (the way PGSM did it), but a movie's a different story that really comes down to who (in terms of director, animators, et cetera) does it. And personally, I'd prefer it if the directing and script writing was left in the hands of the Japanese, as they tend to do crazy-awesome stuff when it comes to film adaptations.
