The world war had ended; there was no doubt about that. From the sunken ships filling the Great Ocean to the submerged fleets of the North Ocean and the empty hangars that seemed everywhere one looked, to empty barrack after empty barrack lining rivers, mountains, seas, and lakes. There was evidence everywhere that a great war had raged. Forever the war would be etched in the hearts and minds of all that had seen it.

A new generation was growing. They knew naught of the war, of the Meatless Mondays, Wheatless Wednesdays, lightless nights, and army drafts. However, the new generation did know of Pokemon, as all people ever had. None of the children had ever set out on a Pokemon journey, not since the era before the war. Pokemon trainers did not exist, thanks to the war. For the Brothers of Evil, the cause of the war had lured many trainers in with seductive tactics. Although the Brothers of Evil were gone, the evidence was everywhere. Thousands of trainers were still in hospitals, though the war had been years ago. Prisons were filled with former Brothers. All teams were gone, for the Brothers had absorbed them all.

Yes, it had been agreed, no Pokemon training should exist. Yet some thought otherwise. Children learned much from experiences like training, they argued. So, a bill was passed in the World Council to allow training. First, an experiment had to be done. And that experiment would give twenty trainers the chance of a lifetime?

It was a quiet night as street lamps blinked gloomily. Skyscrapers barely poked through the ominous grey fog, which was barely distinguishable between the bluish-lavender skies of Aguave City. No Pokemon stirred. It was as if the whole metropolis was waiting for a storm that would never come.

The plane that gazed down from above was stark contrast to gloomy city below. Twenty happy faces lined the rows of the jet. All of them chittered and chattered. All twenty had received the opportunity of a lifetime- to travel the world as Pokemon trainers. Their adventure started tomorrow in the calm region of Aumar, west of the great southwestern continent. Aumar was the only place safe enough to hold such an experiment. It was the only region in which Pokemon training stilled existed. It had been isolated from the world ever since the world war had begun. All of them were cheerful. All except a boy nestled in the corner. His slick downed hair shone in the bright light.

On his pale blue backpack his name, Alito Val Ricardo, was scrawled. He shifted nervously shifted from side to side. He gazed down on the city tensely. The golden streetlights formed a criss-cross grid. It was the only feature to be seen. What terrible weather for a Pokemon journey!
