So... this game was never meant to be widely released in a public way, not just because it's a personal project that wouldn't have that much of an appeal for people who are drowning in FAR better fangames to play, but also because I'm reusing assets from a lot of projects where I was either too lazy to find credits for, or literally could not find the credits for. But then one of the VAs for this project shouted it out in a YouTube video and I kinda felt obligated to at least try and post it in a way that some random people might come across it, despite the incomplete credits. So... here goes...

    WHAT IS POKEMON OUROBOROS?

Pokemon Ouroboros is not a fangame that could be easily sold to anyone. It is one fangame in an endless sea of fangames that have all come and gone. The visuals are adequate for a Gen 4 style game made on RPG Maker but nothing breathtaking and mind boggling. The music selection is good but almost none of the tracks are custom made and recording / streaming the game with the audio on will be asking for copyright strike after copyright strike. There is no vast open world for you to explore. You cannot play god by going against Arceus' plans and fusing Pokemons. Your choices don't affect the world around you, only what parts of that world you get to see. There is no in-depth character customization pushing the limits of RPG Maker XP and Pokemon Essentials. There aren't any unique fakemons and what little fakemons do exist are either there because Pokemon Pathways (which this project shares a lot of codes with) had those fakemons or they exclusively belong to trainers like the gym leaders. There is no unique gimmick to Pokemon Ouroboros, no easily marketable and eye-catching slogan that could be used to advertise it.

But enough about what Pokemon Ouroboros isn't. Let's discuss what the game actually is:

It's a very personal passion project. It's one man's labor of love, with a much appreciated helping hand from his friends. It's a linear experience, but an experience worth having nonetheless. The real heart and soul of the game lies within the people you meet, the conspiracies you will uncover and the enemies you will face. It is a game first and foremost focused around the story that it wants to tell. You are here to go through what is essentially a guided tour of the Ciclo region and experience the tales that await you there and uncover the tales that already happened before you even went there. You are here to meet new faces and take a look at a deeper and more mature version of Red from the Pallet town and people that surround him.

    PLOT

Get ready to embark on a completely normal Pokemon Journey with nothing suspicious going on behind the scenes at all. Step into the shoes of Red, the former champion of the Kanto League, as he goes through a ͍̒l̞̾i͗͆g͕̿h̗̅t̖ͩh̝̳e̴̡aͥ͜r̽̄t͇̠e͈ͭd̔̍ ͜͏ journey in a brand new region called the Ciclo Region. A formerly impoverished island nation that has become the subject of rapid economical growth and urban development and is quickly becoming a favored vacation spot for celebrities and other wealthy people. As a part of the region's development, the government has decided to establish its own Pokemon League and for this year, instead of the usual tournament, Red and his old friend / rival Blue have the privilege of going through what is essentially a test run of the Ciclo League. Along the way, Red meets a mysterious, definitely crazy woman named Nocturne that he definitely shouldn't take seriously or listen to, and realizes that our... ahem... Team Rocket's great leader, Archer has decided to control the team himself and stop hedging his bets on Giovanni's return. What will happen next? You'll have to find out on your own.

    FEATURES

    - A lot of dialogue. Like... a LOT of dialogue. I'm being serious here, if you're the type to skip the story and only care about the gameplay, this one might not be for you
    - Full use of Pokemon Essentials 19.1 and EBDX, making good use of everything they can offer to game devs
    - Visual novel style presentation of the story
    - Voice acting (both the use of voice clips from Pokemon Masters EX and recording our own lines for the new characters)
    - A commitment to go above and beyond with every aspect of the game within my limited scope
    - Pokemon up to Gen 9, with the changes and rebalancings that should be familiar to Pokemon Pathways players
    - Just... a lot of stuff ripped off of Pokemon Pathways... with Born / Gray Hatred's permission
    - HM items (should I even advertise them? At this point they should be mandatory in all fangames)

    WARNING!!!
This game features mature content including but not limited to foul language, sexually suggestive language, tobacco use and themes relating to violence, murder, cult indoctrination, sexual abuse, domestic abuse and more. It's not as gory and edgy as most fangames are, but it's still my duty to inform you that this game would definitely not be rated E for everyone if it were to get a rating.

Is there a streamer version on YouTube?
Not yet and probably never. I'm not able to pay any composers (what with being Iranian and all) and the one composer who was willing to create stuff for me for free out of being a homie has personal shit going in her life that basically killed her motivation for making music (at least for the foreseeable future). Besides, I doubt the game would get big enough to even have a let's play.
