Luck Gone Bad?
It had been a few hours since Gage brought the body back into the center dumping it at the door stop and even though the thought of the corpse still sickened him he slowly began feeling hungry. He got up and walked over to the desk to ask for directions.
"Nurse... Do you know where if their are any resturaunts in the areas? My friend and I are getting a tad hungry." He stared at her slowly waiting for a response and the polite smile on his face slowly fadded into a disgruntled frown.
"Ma'am? Excuse me?" Still no response, she didn't even seem to acknowledge him at all.
"Alrighty then...." Gage walked away from the desk and sat back down next to Angela.
"Jeez, can you believe this people? I mean I know I walked in the building with a corpse on my shoulders but its not like it was just some guy, it was Beo for god sake, we should be being treated like heros right now!" But Angela, not unlike the nurse, stayed stiffly asleep taking no heed to Gage whatsoever.
"Angela are you okay?" Gage looked deep into her eyes and saw something was wrong. He did everything he could to wake her up, he snapped his fingers, he yelled he tapped her shoulder but there was no response, she just remained asleep.
"FINE THEN... DRASTIC MEASURES!" He braced himself and took a deep breath from inside his nostrils. He slowly extended a finger and poked the side of her breast immidiatly jumping across the room and taking shelter in a corner for fear of severe beatings. But still nothing happened. He stared at her and bent forward looking at her face as she continued snoozing under her hat.
"Oh Gage...." He heard an old familiar voice followed by a dark chuckle. He turned his head and sitting there on the desk was Beo alive and well staring down on him with his usual cocky smile. Gage looked around and then smiled.
"I get it now... This is all a dream, just a horrible dream, stuff like this doesn't happen in real life." He turned and put his hand on Angelas cheek, "But, it's a damn convincible one!" Beo began laughing again.
"Silly boy, don't you realize that everything you've done since the day Oak brought you kids in.. it's all been apart of the game?" His lips curled up in a dark tainted smile and Gage frowned taking his hand from the fake Angelas cheek.
"What do you mean game...?" Gage stared at him as he jumped off the desk and put one hand out making and open palmed hand gesture.
"Well what if I were to say I planned for everything to work out this way.. And that I wasn't really dead? Well I'm not pretty much the shadows have taken there full effect on me, and when I was stabbed it wasn't me.. That body by your friend there isn't me.. It's actually a shadow clone" he began rapping his fingers off a nearby desk.
"I would say you this is one ****ed up dream and that you have a damn screw loose... Even if that was true it doesn't explain why I can't talk to any of these people." Beos hand closed tight and his face went completely serious at Gages question.
"Oh thats simple Gage.. For every shadow clone created it takes a sacrifice... You my friend were that sacrifice.." His eyes took an intense focus on Gage.
"Are you saying I'm dead?" Gage asked in confusion.
"It means your now trapped in a dimension between the world, and the shadows.. No one can see or hear you, you basically don't exsist anymore Gage, and before I'd go I'd like to thank you for playing this exciting game with me." He snapped his fingers and was enveloped with darkness dissapearing into the wall.
"NO!" Gage yelled, "I treated your body with respect! I couldve thrown you in a freaking ditch but I let you go! WHAT THE HELL DID I EVER DO! I DON'T WANT TO BE ALONE! WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE JUST KILLED ME!? ANYTHING WOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS."
Gage sat down in the seat he was in and clutched his knees trying to think of what he could do next. He couldn't live like this forever, he couldn't stay stuck alone in this dimension. He took a deep breath and looked down, a single tear tread down his cheek and although it fell off his cheek it never struck the ground. He really didn't exist anymore....
