In my experience, one of four things will happen when throwing a Pokemon:

1. The recipient steals the Pokemon
2. The recipient punches/kicks the Pokemon away
3. The recipient dodges and the Pokemon is sent hurdling toward the wall
4. The recipient turns the Pokemon into a hack

So choose wisely.
