POKEMON PLATINUM is a hack of emerald version were rayquaza had to obliterate groudon and kyougre and died doing it and so did all the pokemon except the ones strong enough to survive and the ones in this new region. and its up to you catch them.
but were is prof. oak or elm or birch. birch and elm were in this region doing research luckily but have no pokemon so your outa luck until a strange old man you talk to gives you a master ball to catch this unkown pokemon a black snack like figure with gold markings on him, embark on this journey with this unkown pokemon to battle gym leaders battle the rest of team magma and aqua away and fight through mewtwo's tower, and some islands to find out what really happened to get the magma and aqua stone.
