Pokemon Platinum - fake or legit?

I wasn't sure where to post, so sorry in advance.

I have serious doubts about the game I just bought. I'il present you a bunch of images but the most important thing is the game froze shortly after I started playing it. Hasn't happened twice so far but one time is enough. Another thing that stands out is a clear game case. This is an American version which, as far as I know, should come in a pitch black case unlike PAL versions but I'm not 100% sure about this. Furthermore, as you will see in the instruction images are kinda blury and the colour on the cover seems faded. The game was supposed to be brand-new, and the paper looks like it was used before. I don't see anything suspicious if it comes to the cartridge but again, I'm not an expert. Nothing drew my attention while I was buying this game but now I have doubts. Before I contact the seller, however, I want to make sure whether it really is fake or it is legit. Could anyone help me with this?

It seems legit to me. If this is fake they really took their time LOL! They even got the 'Nintendo' seal.

I'm no sure, but this may be fake. None of my DS games have ever come in a clear plastic case--they're all black from the DS-era (and I have the American ones). Not to mention the sparkles on the cover don't match mine, are only in the background on the front. There should not even be any sparkles on the back. Also, it looks like the code in black on the cartridge doesn't match mine, but I don't know if that is indicative of anything or not.

Compared with my platinum copy, the plastic casing of your platinum looks dodgy as hell (mine is black), but the ds cartridge looks exactly the same. You can also try to check its validity by playing the 3ds pokemon dream radar with the platinum cartridge slotted in. If it unlocks the extension for the giratina, then it's real.

Thanks for your responses. Yeah, like you said, the thing is the cartridge looks legit but the rest gives me a strong impression this is fake. What about that freeze, though? It was the first thing which caught my attention because it never happened to me that a legit game froze out of a sudden.

Legit games almost never freezes unless it's either fake or broken. Both scenario says enough about the cartridge to be sent back to the seller and demand for a refund. Where did you buy this game anyway?

Allegro.pl, it's a Polish equivalent of ebay. I've already spoken to the seller and we agreed to solve this problem via refund. Thanks for everyone who contributed.

Bit of a odd one. It appears to be the US version of Platinum inside a PAL case. That's probably why the insert doesn't fit properly, as the US cases are smaller than the PAL ones. Here's a comparison (PAL on the left, US on the right):

So far as I can tell, the cartridge looks like a legit US one. If it is a fake, then the fakers have gone to a big effort to make it look legit - it has the NTR-005 PAT. PEND and the Nintendo logo engraved on the back. It also has the 9 figure serial number which seems to follow the correct pattern (yours is CPUEN0J09, mine is CPUPN0J22).

Game freezes are unusual but not unheard of - it may have been some dust in your DS that interrupted its connection. If you can't replicate the fault, then it could have just been that.

But this is only from the images you took. :P Usually you can tell from the shine of the cartridge label - if it doesn't reflect the light back at you, it may be a fake.

That cartridge thing concerns me too because it looked legit as hell but everything else was just wrong which in add to an unexpected freeze forced me to send it back.

Although it's over, take a look at the front cover once again. The case is clear which means it should PAL version but at the same time it shows signs of an american version. For example in left down corner there is supposed to be PEGI tag instead of ESRB as far as I know and when you zoom in you'il see the glitter covering the letter "P" in "Pokemon", so... yeah.

I've seen those types of counterfeit carts before. Sometimes they'll put a review for the game in the manual instead for some reason. I'll only buy games online that have a picture of the box taken with a camera instead of a scan of the box art. Unfortunately, some sellers have inventory far away from where they actually are, so if it's a scan, it could be an illegitimate copy and they won't even know it.

Just some advice for the potential future~
