Pokemon re-design

I've been thinking about improving some pokemon designs and using them for a hack, to bring out some "unloved" pokemon. I'm experimenting with concept art.
here's my first try, Vanilite line. I think it has too many details, boring colors, and the face can be much better.

Next pokemon to design: Raticate, Magmar, Feebas, Slaking (female sprite), Burmy, Purugly, Vanilluxe, Garbodor, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr, Quilladin.

Here's the next redesign, the magmar line.
less "butthead", less details.
and.. magmortar is beyond repair. I tried.

To be fair, it is interesting than magmortar loses it's duck lips from earlier evolutions. It also loses it's circular appendages, so it's interesting to try and redesign these guys! I like this project so far : )
