Emerald hack: Pokemon Re:Emerald (Improvement Hack) - Version 0.1.0 Released!

So, keeping PIDs and things to keep transfer compatibility aren't in my list of things to do, mainly because I don't even know if this game will be able to connect to other Gen III games by the time it's done, given how much I'll be moving memory around. I also want to repurpose all the unused Ribbons in Emerald to make new types of achievement, so that wouldn't mesh well with transfers either. Basically, think of this as its own standalone hack, which just happens to be an improved Emerald.
Anyways, I'm glad you liked my hack, it's always nice to see people enjoying it ^^

Is it possible to add a pop up to use sweet scent again if a battle initiated by sweet scent ended? Like what you've done with repel. Not sure how easy or hard it is, but it's a nice little feature that saves running around for encounters and should help with the safari zone.

That should be possible for sure. In fact, I was already planning on streamlining the use of Sweet Scent, but I hadn't thought of doing a popup like that, definitely adding it to the to-do list (y)

Thanks, looking forward to the update. Just another thing, is it possible to add a dex nav?
It'd be great if it can help with finding the pokemon, but I'm mainly going for the function of knowing what pokemon are in that area, like in gen 5.
The initial release is fine as it is without this function, but when the encounters are tweaked to allow all mons to be catchable, it'd be nice to have an in game method of knowing the pokemons available in the area.
I know this might be against the spirit of keeping this gen 3, but it's gives a more immersive experience rather than having a separate encounter list file opening in another window.

I definitely want to add more in-game documentation for things like Pokemon locations, pokemon moves and stats, etc. However, I'm not giving priority to them because the stuff the pokeemerald-expansion comes with didn't feel right for me, so I would have to brainstorm a new way to do it, and crafting new UI elements is quite difficult for me. As an example, the default DexNav has the function to instantly start a battle with any Pokemon in the are you've seen once before, which I feel completely changes what wild encounters are. The Area List of Black and White 2 is probably how I'd make it, but I'll have to think about it.

Just to be clear, this stuff will probably not happen until most of the other content I have planned has been implemented. In the meantime, when a new Swarm Pokemon is available, it will instantly be added to the Pokedex as seen, so you can know which Route it appears on.

I also just want to say, thank you for all your feedback so far. I really appreciate it!

I just had another idea, perhaps you can change the road signs to include the pokemons in that area, not sure if there is a character limit on those, but this doesn't have too much impact on the original game vibe.

Nah, there's no character limit for those. Actually, that reminds me some hacks have gone that way. I definitely don't want to go that route for the final version, but I might consider it as a placeholder until I make something else. I'll see when I'm done doing most of the changes I want for wild Pokemon.

i love this hack so much! i've already put a bunch of hours into this but i've come across a bit of an issue with dive?? i can use dive to go into deep water but it wont let me back up no matter what i do. im not sure if its just something wrong with my emulator or the hack itself! i figured i'd say something cuz this basically softlocks me out of the rest of the game now and i'd hate for others to run into the same problem

Thank you, glad you're having fun! As for that issue with Dive, it has never come up while I was playing. I used the mGBA emulator and haven't seen or heard anyone else having this issue so far.
