Pokemon replacements...?

I made this thread because I played almost all the generations of Pokemon Games and I felt like some pokemon weren't in my team... and that I must replace them.

For example, in Pokemon Red I usually had a Pikachu/Raichu on my team. In pokemon gold I missed on electric pokemon and replaced pikachu/raichu with ampharos, in Ruby with manetric and recently in Platinum with Luxray. The same with Pidgey, Spearrow, Starly, Hoothoot and taillow.

What are your "substitues " of those pokemons in each game?

for my first plays? The fire starters. Well, first gold play i tries chikorita, then the 1st leader killed me, so i chose cyndiquil.

Also, pidgey, then pidgey, then tailow, then starly (skipped hoot-hoot)

as far as waters go

magikarp/gyarados, then lanturn, then walrien, then bibarel

electrics: pikachu, pikachu (traded), pikachu, and.....pikachu!

psys: abra, slopoke, abra, azelf!

I think most everyone has done one variation or another on the flying one. For me, it was: RBY: Pidgey, GSC: Hoothoot, RSE: wingull(I no rite), DPPt: Starly. Also the fire-type montage of growlithe, houndoor, numel, ponyta.(That thing got so popular ingame, in 4th gen...)

in yellow my best pokemon was pidgeot. but i have never found a suitable replacement, all the other bird just seem like bad imitations. for other replacement i found that you always need to carry around a few certain pokemon to use the HMs

But...but... Abra and Magikarp are in every regional Pokédex... you don't have to replace them...!

I went with Pidgey/HootHoot/Wingull/Starly for my flying types. Recently though I've been playing 1st Gen again, and I've decided I totally love Spearow.

Water types are something like this... 1st: Squirtle/Lapras, 2nd: Wooper/Lapras, 3rd: Wingull, 4th: Piplup/Buizel

Electric: Electabuzz/Mareep/Manectric/Luxray

Fire: 1st: Vulpix/Magmar, 2nd: Cyndaquil, 3rd: Torchic/Numel, 4th: Houndour

Normal: 1st: Meowth, 2nd: Sentret/Teddiursa, 3rd: Whismur, 4th: Glameow

Psychic: Abra/Espeon/Spoink/Gallade

Aside for starters, I've never really switched-

Actually, I have. In Kanto, I had a Dragonite. Johto, however, gave me Tyranitar. Hoenn introduced me to Flygon, and Sinnoh presented me with Garchomp. XD

My teams are almost never parallel; I've never settled on a specific 6-Pokémon type combination to use for the game. Of course, I always have a Water-type (unless I'm monotyping it), but there are so many Water-types to choose from out there that it's often completely different every time I play. I suppose the closest thing to a replacement I did was with Psychic types, even though I didn't always have them on my team...and I've played with the Abra line in every generation at least once.

Kanto--Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam
Johto--Gastly/Haunter/Gengar (not Psychics, but they served the same purpose on my team)
Hoenn--Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir
