Pokemon reproduction... (may be slightly inappropriate)

What gender changing? o.o

If they're anything like real seahorses, then the female just puts her eggs into a pouch on the male. There's no gender-swapping involved at all. ^_^;
No... I saw it on the Discovery Channel, seahorses have the ability to change their gender somehow... And since it's on the Discovery Channel, that instantly makes it true :P

I... don't think we need to know. o.o; Two Pok?mon mate and out comes an egg, that's all there is to it. Pok?mon is a kids' series, so you shouldn't be thinking about that. =\

Maybe Pokemon does not need zygotes at all. ^^

Maybe the only purpose of male Pokemon is too stimulate the females to lay the egg that does not need fertilizing. XD

Woah, awkward topic. Anyway, Iveechan is right. Mating and reproduction is a miracle of life, so technichally, it isn't discusting. Here's my theory.

Most of the animals that breed together are of a similar size (Skitty isn't compatable with a Wailord, jymx. Not in the game) They do it the way, well, to keep it undiscusting for you immature children, they do it the way most animals related to their kind do it. Then, the female lays an egg, and when you come back from the daycare you receive the egg.

Now here's MY question. When you say you don't want the egg and the keepers keep it, what do they do to it?

Here's another one: Are there any Pokemon that reproduce asexually?

When I was writing How Pokemon Really Works, I decided against saying that some Pokemon reproduce, well, in the non-egg way because:

a. I didn't want to go into detail
b. I couldn't think of a way to make a joke out of it without going too far

Hm...nope. Since no pokemon reproduce by budding or mitosis, there is no asexual reproduction in Pokemon.

Starmies <--suppose they exchange sperms.

I have a pretty good idea how the dragons mate at least :)
Lol, I've seen enough of it XD

There MAY be some Pokemon that reproduce asexualy. Ditto perhaps is one (It resembles a cell), and maybe genderless Pokemon like Magnemite. They grow a bud off of them, and POP! its a new Magnemite. Muks could as well, and perhaps Corsola. Its just a reef Pokemon, and that's how reefs reproduce.

umm... am i wrong or can starmie's and magnemite's not breed? that's the impression i was under at least. because they are genderless. though, i don't think nintendo really thought about pokemon reproducing in depth. i mean... how can you... you know... with a shadow?... and yet gengar is breedable... so weird...

Babies come from the stork. Jeez, guys, don't you know anything
Well son, it's time we sat down and had "That talk". lol

I'm not sure and like everyone said, we won't know.

err... i don't know about this thread... well, lets just say... don't think about these things... if they wanted you to think about it they would have put something in the show/games to make you think it.... lol.... im just ranting... right?

Omelette time!

'Kay, here's the problem with Ditto. See, if it used Transform, it would transform into an exact replica of the Pokemon it was mating with- gender and all. Therefore, reproduction would be rather unlikely. The implication is that Ditto rearranges itself into the needed shape and size.
