    Story:

    You arrive by ship on the mysterious Trotatas Island, as a voulenteer to assist Professor Juniper, a world-traveling pokemon researcher. Upon arrival, you see two wild pokemon, an Evee and a new pokemon, Narwild (which can also be evolved in many ways), that the professor has been trying unsuccessfully to tame. The two are fighting, and the professor franticly calls to you to separate them. You may choose to pull away either pokemon, and whichever you choose will seem to like you. The professor invites you to try and train the pokemon as your partner, and explains that Trotatas Island is home to many species of pokemon that can be found nowhere else, some of which have been extinct on the mainland for many years. Afterwards, he takes away your Pokedex!

    In exchange, the Professor gives you an invention of his own design, the PokeLog, which is able to gather information on new pokemon as they grow. Unlike the Pokedex, your new PokeLog does not automatically update with each new pokemon. Instead, the data for each new species will be added gradually as you train them. Also, your pokemon will refuse to accept any evolution stones. To evolve him or her, you must develop a strong bond and take them to a location with a strong affinity for the form you like. You may also receive a device called the EvoGuide, which will help you to influence the evolution of pokemon that can grow to be more than one form.
    Suggestions for ways to achieve the known forms appreciated.

    Working for the Professor, you are charged with catching as many new pokemon as you can and filling in their entries in the PokeLog. Since Trotatas Island is not completely uninhabited, Prof. Juniper suggests that you take part in the island's newly formed Pokemon League. One of his other assistants, a girl with a team of revived fossil pokemon, decides to make a contest of who can collect all the badges first and become League Champion. This is complicated by the fact that some towns' haven't finished construction of their gyms, so you'll have to come back later when they finally get set up.

    Along the way, you will encounter a mysterious organization known only as Team Genesis. These poachers seem to be seeking out the "four gods", legendary pokemon said to dwell on the island. These pokemon are said to have the power to create life, and Team Genesis wants to use them to make the ultimate pokemon.

    What's New:

    Pokemon;
    As for new pokemon, several of the previously rumored "Pokegods" will become a reality; including Hifishi, Tricket, and Shadybug. Fossils will also be a big issue, possibly even earning their own type. Again, suggestions are welcome!

    A sample of the latest pokemon to return in the Sand/Granite roster*: Kangiskhan, Farfetch'd, Omanite, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Sudowoodo, Magicarp, Natu, and Baltoy. (*Not a complete list. Only lowest form given.)

    Gadgets;
    There will be a new tool for your trainer, the EvoGuide. Another of Prof. Juniper's inventions, this device will allow you to influence the development of pokemon with multiple evolutions. The biggest use of this tool is to determine the final form of your Evee, however there will also be a few other pokemon able to benifit from it.

    Features;
    Herbal medicines will be appearing, including several varieties to boost pokemon stats. These medicines will be offered at a lower price than the regular items they duplicate, but with the added effect of making your pokemon like you less. Also included in this category of tools for the less "sensitive" trainer? An assortment of hold items and special pokeballs which offer greater effect at the price of your pokemon's love. No longer does being a good trainer and having your pokemon form a bond with you go hand in hand.

    Don't think that forming a bond is now unnecessary, though. New bond-related move tutors, special evolutions, and a few other surprises await the kindhearted trainer. However, that's not to say that "evil" won't have it's advantages. It will be possible to raise shadow pokemon, like in the console games, complete with shadow moves. You will also be able to purify shadow pokemon if you choose, a useful thing, as some pokemon (think Mewtwo) will be shadow pokemon when you find them.

    Hello, Briar here.

    I'm going to be updating from time to time, weather anyone gives me feedback or not (though I hope you will), so I encourage you all to check back every couple of days. Already, I've had to add new information about five times, and there's still more to come. I'm looking at making the game in RPG Toolkit. It will have a trade feature, exclusive pokemon, and a secret rare; just like the Nintendo games. I hope you'll all look forward to it, and help me make it the best fangame ever. Thanks in advance!

    Your evo gadget sounds cool.

    Will Evee be the only choice for starter though ?

    Your evo gadget sounds cool.

    Yes. Evee will be the default starter in both games. I know not everyone loves Evee, but it has enough different forms to fit any play style, as well as the option of raising it as a shadow pokemon.

    However, I have been thinking about some other options. One is adding a NGP feature that lets you transfer in a different pokemon to be your starter. I could also include another pokemon with multiple evolved forms and allow players to choose between the two. In that case, the alternate starter would be a very similar pokemon, but with a new look and different moves. It would have a few of the same types available for evolution as Evee, but would also cover the types that Evee cannot evolve into.

    How about a more updated pokemon looks they all seem to be going spikey and such..

    As of right now, all the pokemon that already exist will be done with their FR/LG sprites. That's because I'm not a spriter and don't want to create extra work for whoever helps on this project.

    Hey all! I've just gotten done with a new update. Now introducing the villains of our story; Team Genesis! It seems these shadowy pokemon poachers are out to create the ultimate life form, and they mean to use the power of six legendary pokemon to do it...wow! Will they succeed? Just what are the six pokemon with the power to create life? Will you be able to use this power for yourself? Just wait and see!

    Also, I've introduced a second starter, Narwild. Not much is known about this little critter yet, but it definitely shares Evee's love of multiple evolution options. Not only that, but it seems that Narwild can evolve into all the types that Evee can't...not to mention some of the ones it can! I'll be taking submissions for the Sprite and Appearance as well as the Pokedex Entry for this new species. The best three submissions for both categories will go to a vote, giving the Pokecommunity the power to decide what kind of a pokemon it will be.

    Wow. I really like this. Out of curiousity, does the Narwild have to be scratch?

    As in, does it have to be a scratch sprite [starting from scratch]?

    First of all, yes, I would prefer that the original pokemon I am adding have unique sprites, not edited ones. However, if it is edited to the extent that the source sprite or sprites are unrecognizable, that will be acceptable.

    Next off, this is still in the planning and resource gathering stage. Once all the details have been finalized and the building can start in earnest, I will try to give an estimate on how long this will take. I'd like to do this in RPG Toolkit (my favorite engine) and incorporate a dual game system with trading and version exclusive pokemon...the works.

    So, unlikely as it is anyone will accept, I'm going to throw this offer out right now. If anyone has the skills to do this and is willing to take over as project lead on this, it's fair game. I'll gladly stay on as a writer, but I freely admit that somebody else could probably finish this faster than I.

    Now...updates:
    1. To avoid overburdening the game with legendaries, the pokemon being hunted by Team Genesis is being reduced from six to four. This will be offset by several other legendaries.
    2. Somebody is definitely going to get to use that power of creation. At least one of the additional legendaries is going to be a pokemon created by the "four gods".
    3. The method for determining Evee and Narwild's evolved forms is getting a revision. To give the player more control, the determining factor will be environmental, rather than battle-driven. However, the EvoGuide will still give the trainer final say...at least, so long as they have it at evolution time.

    These changes will be getting edited in to the main posts.

    Also, I'm offering an honorable mention in the game's credits to the first person who can put together the hints I'm leaving and figure out the real life place that Sand/Granite is based on. PM's only please!

    I hope the doublepost witchunters will leave me alone for now, since I haven't had an update in a long time. I just want to make an announcement about a couple new features I'm looking to impliment, and get some feedback on them. These changes are inspired by the TV show, and are intended to create a more cinimatic and imersive experiance.

    The new contest system: Under this system, contests will no longer be divided into subtypes. A pokemon's contest-related stats will provide a style bonus to moves of the same contest type (smart moves work better for smart pokemon, etc...) and moves that match the pokemon's base type will be more crowd pleasing (ex. Absol using a dark move). Of course, a pokemon with a higher scoring type-matched move will steal the show. Additionally, special contest battles will be used to determine the final winner. In these battles, pokemon will have a Style Point or SP rating. Attacks will not only affect the opponent's HP, but also thier SP, based on the contest value attack and style stats of the attacker. Matches will be timed, and the first pokemon to run out of either HP or SP loses, and if both pokemon are still in the fight when the timer runs down, the one with the most remaining SP wins.

    The new battle system: In addition to a new contest system, battles in Sand/Granite will be handled differently. This is dubbed the ATB2 system. With the ATB2 system, both pokemon have an initiative guage that fills at a speed determined by thier speed stat. Once the guage is full, the pokemon can use an attack. This means a faster pokemon may get off several attacks in the same time as it takes a slower pokemon to use only a few. However, a full guage doesn't mean you have to attack. At the moment the opponent launches an attack, a pokemon with a full guage can interrupt counter.

    What's an inturrupt counter? It's a special technique in which a pokemon can use one of its moves defensively. Many moves will have a special defensive form that can be used with interrupt counter. For example, using IC-Teleport will not only dodge the opponent's attack completly, but will also guarentee a hit on your next attack...if you don't get hit first. Other moves, (such as Quick Attack, Counter, and Mirror Coat) will work as normal, but greatly increase either defense or evasion for the opponent's attack. Even if you don't have any moves with IC effects, you can still use an inturrupt counter. In this case, the pokemon's defense and evasion both increase for the attack, and the opponent may damage themself (or inflict greater damage on themself, if thier attack would already damage them). However, the opponent may also use interrupt counters, so watch out.

    Nice new ideas for the battle system! But are you sure that ICs will be balanced compared to normal attacks?

    I was thinking about messing around with a similar system after I completed my current project. However, I'm not going to be using ICs or similar. But here's a suggestion which I'll be using in mine - how about having moves with less PP use more of the the initiative gauge? I think that would be a good idea to implement in this type of system. This would mean that the weaker moves a Pokémon has won't become useless at level-ups.

    Finally, are you sure you'll be able to successfully implement it? I think it could be pretty hard to code... Especially with the wide variety of moves in Pokémon. Well, good luck anyway!

    I think IC moves will be fairly balanced. First, since there will only be a narrow window in which to use them, they can get away with being a little better than regular moves through difficulty of execution. Second, they still use up PP and time, both valuable assets. Also, not all IC's will completely shield a pokemon from harm, and some that do will have no effect beyond that. Most of all though, waiting to IC means not using your own attack, plus the opponents will have all the same advantages you have available to them as well.

    I like the idea about stronger moves using more of the gauge. I also think that some moves will have other effects on the gauge. For example, Hyper Beam and similar moves will temporarilly freeze or slow the gauge, moves like Solarbeam will not go off until the gauge refills (emptying the gauge again), and still others, like Mach Punch, will actually make the gauge speed up for a while.
