    Pokemon Sapphire: Redux​

    I've recently taken up to playing the old R/S/E Gen. games and well, I wanted to go ahead and start a little pet project. That pet project is Pokemon Sapphire: Redux. Basically, this is a remake of Pokemon Sapphire, but with better graphics, some Fakemon, some map changes, and a couple other new features. This project is, in its purest form, a way for me to test my own abilites at making a game with the Pokemon Starter Kit on RPGMaker XP.

    Story:
    For the most part the story of the game will go unchanged. However, here are some events that will be changed:

    -You do not save Prof. Birch from a wild Pokemon. Instead, you simply recieve one from his lab, although this will be unique in its own aspect.

    -Your rival will appear in more locations, resulting in more battles. Plus, they will finally have the final form of their starter after a certain point in the game.

    -Team Aqua will make more attacks. You'll be seeing a lot more of Archie and his grunts throughout the game.

    -Team Magma will be fought. Although Maxie claims to be your ally...aw, you'll find out on your own.

    -Groudon will be catchable, but certain requirements must be met.

    Features:

    -Improved graphics: FR/LG OWs and tiles, HG/SS Pokemon, HG/SS Bag and items

    -Altered PokeDex: Including the Hoenn native Pokemon, the Dex will include several Pokemon from the other three regions, but not all 493 can be caught.

    -Fakemon: Not many, but a few Fakemon will be included in the game. These guys will be kept under wraps until the final release.

    -Altered Maps: Almost every town and city and route will be tweaked in some way.

    -Alternative evolutions: Trade evos will be modified to evolve at a higher level instead.

    -Tweaked Plot: Some adjusts meants and additions will be made.

    -Revised trainers and Gym Leaders: A lot of the trainers will have different Pokemon. Also, gym leaders and their gyms will be edited. Your rival will have different Pokemon. And, the Elite Four and Champ will be modified (Surprise new champ)

    -PokeContests: Only if I find the right script.

    -Pokemon Follow Me: Again, gotta find the script.

    Help:
    Don't need much, but:

    -FR/LG style sprites for the Hoenn Gym leaders(Including Juan), Team Aqua & Magma, and the Elite Four and Steven.

    -A script to include Pokemon Contests, and a script for Pokemon Follow Me.

    Final Thoughts:

    Um, no one's interested?...At all?






    New Idea: I had this thought that the player should be able to get Treeko, Torchic, and Mudkip throughout the game (One from your rival, one from Prof. Birch, and the final from Steven). So, you're starter Pokemon will be........Union!

    Who's Union? : Union is a Pokemon I thought of while doodling. He's bascially a small, plain white reptile with an oblong head and baby-raptor body. He has no flashy features and is Normal-type. So why would he be your starter? Because Union has the ability to evolve into one of three Pokemon that follow the standard Grass, Fire, Water starter pattern. Depending on which stat is higher when it reaches level 20, it'll evolve into one of three Pokemon who each have their own evolution.

    Union:
    ATK higher than SPD and DEF= Grelk, Grass-Type, based on elk
    SPD higher than DEF and ATK= Pyrix, Fire-Type, based on raptor
    DEF high than ATK and SPD= Tortice, Water/Ice-Type, based on grand tortise

    I like the looks of this and if your looking for the script for pokemon following you look in help-14's Pokemon Following Character Script in the Tutorials section good luck on this game.

    New idea: Key Items Replace HMs!

    I came up with this because I found HMs to be rather useless moves. And the fact that you have to visit the Move Deleter to get rid of them, makes them all the more annoying. So, Key Items will replace HMs. Don't fret, HMs will still be in the game, but only as regualr moves. Here's the list of key items which replace the HMs:

    HM01 Cut= Samurai Sword
    HM02 Fly= Hand-Glider
    HM03 Surf= Surfboard
    HM04 Strength= ??? (Still thinking)
    HM05 Flash= Flashlight
    HM06 RockSmash= Pick Axe
    HM07 Waterfall= Surfboard v2 (It's upgraded in Littleroot by Prof. Birch)
    HM08 Dive= Scuba Suit

    No problem and this is a good Idea I've often felt the hm system just waited move space and for Strength Push Gloves? that's all I could think of for strength besides a Bulldozer.
     
    Lol, yeah, I asked my brother and all he could come up with was a Bulldozer, but I kept reminding him that it had to be something that was utterly ridiculous to be carried in a bag. I've considered some sort of power suit type thing that the play wears to move the boulders, but I'm still unsure.

    Okay I've been thinking of this and what about a boulder mat it's a mat with a rough top and a smooth underside that the player can slip under boulders and use it to push them around easily.
     
    Wut about A pill or drink that gives the user super strength like Power Juice or Power Pill... just an idea.... this sounds like a good idea keep at it
     
    Or maybe Percussion Gloves. A pair of gloves infused with psychic energy that vigorously repel anything they push against. It matches the "touch the boulder and it skims away a tile" visualisation.

    If there exists items like beaks that boost the power of Flying moves, a pair of physic-enhanced gloves aren't that strange. And it's not as though they'll be common items, either, since they're a Key Item.
     
    Excellent ideas, especially Maruno's. So, Percussion Gloves now replaces Strength =D lol

    Production on the game is at an unfortunate stand-still since I'm currently unable to playtest the game due to several faults in the version of Pokemon Essentials which I am using. When these issues are resolved, progress will be up and running again.
     
    Hey... I have a question. Why would you do Pokemon Sapphire, and not Emerald??? I mean, it makes more sense to do something that connects the duo Ruby and Sapphire then just doing one side of the coin. But hey, it's your game, your rules.

    I like the Union idea, it sounds very clever(for you lol), and to HM Strength: Either Push Gloves, which repel every on the other side of them, or the Muscle Pill, which gives a user superhuman for a limited time period.

    But I have a better idea, which I'm going to use in my game.

    My theory is that when you beat the Gym Leader, your Pokemon can use HM outside of battle, BUT without learning the move. Like say you have a Swellow on your team, and once you beat Winoa(or however it's spelled) you can use Fly, but only if your Pokemon is like a Flying type, or can learn the move, but you don't actually learn Fly, get it?

    Also, before I go, whatever happened to Amaterasu???(just wondering)
     
    1) I chose Sapphire because I prefer it to Ruby and Emerald. Besides, this is basically a slow transition from Sapphire to Emerald because of certain events I have planned.

    2) Ignoring the parantheses, thanks. As for HM Strength, I using Maruno's idea which is basically a more teched-up Push Glove idea.

    3) You're theory is somewhat faulty and would require extensive scripting because every Pokemon would have to be scripted to use the HMs they can learn and not be able to use them all. Example, you beat Roxanne and are now able to use Cut, so you go to a Cut tree and now it says your Magikarp can use Cut, oops, that shouldn't happen.

    4) Amaterasu is currently in the same standstill as my Sapphire remake, also, this is a small project I'm doing to see if I'm actually capable of going through with Amaterasu.
     
    Hmm, I see. Cool, thanks for answering. Good luck on your project, I still have mines in the works lol. I'm trying to make a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong game, somewhat from 3 weeks to 3 months or LONGER. My dex will have 1001 Pokemon, none of the old ones, with 16 Gym Leaders! But, tthis sadly will take months, if not years planning.

    I have a fully functional November release of essentials... I think Poccil maybe got mad at people for not crediting him and thanking him, instead harassing him and asking nooby questions and released a faulty essentials... I honestly can't blame him though. o.o

    And on a side note: No way?! You're making a shorter game to test your abilities too?! xD I'm doing the exact same thing with my Cobalt Burn version to test in preparation for Garnet. o.o

    Lol, dude, your Garnet thread has some of the best graphics for a fangame I've ever seen! And your Cobalt Burn Version idea seems really cool too.

    You are talking about the old Garnet thread in Plot and Story Idea Space that's starting to grow cobwebs on it, and not all the more official, advanced garnets being made, right? o-o

    Anyway, I'm also throwing in a 4th gen cave tile set and a few bonuses because you're flattering. o-O

    EDIT: I was gonna PM it, but It seems as though I can't make an attachment via PM, and MegaUpload has a grudge against me. I upload something, yet somehow the people who upload my things end up getting some random crap made by someone else. x_X

    Anyway, in it I also included the HGSS soundtrack (credit...uh...it was someone in resources thread iirc... maybe wichu... no? someone. o.o; ) and a few autotiles and.. uh... oh yea, a 4th gen cave tileset. Be sure to credit Kyledove if you use the tileset. He made the tiles, I just merged them to make a set since it seems as if no one did it themselves. x.X oh, and if you do use it, be sure to set the light blue square near the bottom as semi-transparent, so it'll be water. o.o

    Oh wait... the max MB for .zip attachments is 2... I'm 866 MB above the limit... gimme a minute. x_X
