Plot:
According to an ancient mythology, it is said that legendary Pokemon used to help humans in the past to overcome natural disasters such as earthquakes, famines, floods, droughts, and other calamities. Apparently, they could be easily spotted by the humans. Now the times are changing, and in today's world, it's practically impossible to notice a legendary Pokemon.
The game starts off with you, a young child, asking your mother about why legendary Pokemon don't reveal themselves to the human eye. Your mother, who is trying to lure you to sleep, tells you that they will appear if you are a good child and go off to bed. Planned for the next day is a field trip that you're going on with your friends. However, your inquisitive friend takes you into some tall grass where you're attacked by a wild Pokemon. Having no Pokemon of your own, you're pretty much screwed; but some girl comes from nowhere with her Pokemon and saves you. This memory gets registered into your mind, and makes you want to become a trainer even more.
- 5 years later -
You're 14 now. A perfect age to set out on an adventure on your own. Taking permission from your parents (Just breaking the cliché of a single parent), you decide to go to the local professor living in the neighboring town and ask him for a Pokemon. But while nearing the outskirts of the town, you see that a girl encounters a wild Pokemon and that she is in danger. Without a second thought, you rush to save her. However, the Pokemon that you're battling with is a Psychic one, and it lulls you to sleep with a Hypnosis attack.
- 3 hours later -
You wake up in the professor's house only to find out that the girl you had saved was none other than the professor's daughter herself. She was the same person who had saved you 5 years ago, and that she didn't need the help. Anyway, after a few minutes of conversation, you tell the professor that you need a Pokemon. He willingly gives you a Riolu, stating that you seem to be the adventuring and helpful type, and that it will be happy with you.
But why was the Pokemon attacking you in the first place? Pokemon don't attack humans when they're in the natural habitat, in a good frame of mind. The plot slowly reveals that team ____ is looking for a legendary Pokemon; supposedly the one that is said to have created the universe so that they can make a new world consisting of only shadow type Pokemon and then destroy the current existing world. However, when you realize this, it's too late to tell somebody else, OR back out, so you're the only person who can save the world.
