Pokemon- Souls of One [PG-14] (SU's are Open!)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Name: Kylie Hutchinson

Gender: Female

Age: 13

Appearance: Kylie's image is nothing short of your average young girl. Her frame is small and gives off the appearance of delicacy and fragility. She stands at about 5 feet in height, with small hands and feet. Her hair is a silky tan and comes to the middle of her neck. She has soft, light green colored eyes which give off a feeling of warmth and comfort from their depths. Kylie is a very optimistic person at heart, and is almost always seen smiling. Along with her cute face and delicate features, her prescence is known to light up even the darkest of rooms.

Personality: Kylie is your typical, happy-go-lucky type of girl. She almost always has a smile on her face. Even during the rough times she stays optimistic, thinking it's more important to realize the good of a situation, rather than the bad, and to work towards making her position in life an even better one.

Job: Trainee (to become a medic)

History:

Despite her being happy and upbeat for the most part, Kylie has never really had a break in life. From the moment she turned 8 years of age, her parents got into a huge argument and divorced a few weeks later. At the time, jobs hiring had been hard to come by, and neither had had good jobs to begin with. That's when they decided it would be best for her to stay with her aunt and older cousins in Fortree city, since they were unable to afford and care for her themselves.

Her soul partner at that time had been a Pichu. Because it was still in it's preevolutionary form, her older cousins would always make fun of them both, being mean whenever they saw a chance to.

One day during world war, her aunt and cousins had been killed in a raid of the city. Kylie, despite the harsh treatment she'd received during her stay, was very upset, almost to the point of hysteria, once she'd found out of her family's deaths. She had not been home when it happened, and when she got back to find the house destroyed, a soldier had been there and decided that it would be best to take her to a Safe Zone. That was when she was taken to Oxifield. And when she had arrived there she vowed to train hard and to become a great medicine assistant in the future, in order to help save the lives that didn't deserve to be lost, and to hopefully one day end the horrid world war. That was when her Pichu had finally evolved...

Soulmon

Name: Mimi

Species: Pikachu

Gender: Female

Appearance: This Pikachu sports a bright pelt, with shining, sleek fur that is soft to the touch. Her eyes are light blue in color. She also wears a bright, pink bow, which is tied around her neck.

Personality: Mimi is a very bubbly Pokemon. She is almost always seen happy, but can also be a little shy at times when it comes to meeting new people (or Pokemon). Like Kylie, she tries to stay optimistic, even at the worst of times.

(OOC: Neko, I said that profiles must be posted either in the OOC thread or through a PM to me. Even then, you're Soulmon has to be fully evolved.)

As Sera and Saraph walked towards the storeage room, passing Marco and his Soulmon, she suddenly stopped to a halt when a man stepped into the hallway right in front of her. The man had very white armor on and a white cape. On the front of his armor was a red dragon design, the same that was on the sleeve of her shirt and she knew that it would also be on his cape. Beside him stood a long and magestic Milotic with purple hair. Immediately Sera stood up straight with the flat of her hand against her forehead, Saraph doing the same motion. The man in white smiled and waved his hand, letting her be at ease.

"It's good to see you again Sera," the man said.

"It's good to see you, Captian Draco," Sera said as she and Saraph went at ease. "Though I'm wondering what the Captian of the Holy Knights wants to do with me?"

"Oh I was just checking up on how one of future and most gifted soldiers that we will get," Draco said with a kind looking smile. "I heard that you're parents died. Such a shame, they were really good soldiers and people. So I wanted to make sure that you where okay."

"I am fine sir," Sera said. "I will admit that it has not been easy, but I have been getting over my parent's death. It may take me a little more time yet but I will be ready to join your faction with all confidence by the time graduatioin rolls around."

"Glad to hear it," Draco said with a nod. "But know this Sera, if you are ever in doubt just remember the Holy Knight's motter. 'We are the Chosen Ones. We sacifice our blood. We kill for honor. We are the Chosen Ones-'"

" 'Our armor stained with blood. We killed the dragon.'" Sera finished with a slight smirk. "Trust me, I know that motto by heart. I will use it if I am every in doubt about anything. I always have."

"Good girl," the captian said with a nod. "For the great knight Asher did not have doubt when he killed the evil dragon. That was why the One, gave him and all loyal to him Dragon like Soulmons. That is why you got a very powerful Soulmon like Saraph, proof of you're loyalty to him."

Saraph just grunted, causing Sera to turn and glare at him. Despite her loyalty to the Holy Knights, Saraph had never viewed them with more then contentment. He didn't seem to like the group for some reason that he didn't share with Sera. The girl then sighed and looked back at the captain.

"Though I would love to chat, I'm afraid I must leave you now," Sera said. "I'm afraid we are needed else where. Though I do thank you very much for your kind advise."

"Think nothing of it," Draco said with another smile. "I'm always here if you need help."

"I'll remember that," Sera said as Draco stepped out of her way. He continued to watch the two as they went down the hallway and down a flight of stairs. When their gone, he and his Soulmon smile at each other before walking down the opposite end of the hallway.

Chapter 1- The Secret Faction

"Sunray, turn down the light, will you?!" An impatient feminine-toned voice snapped. "You're preventing me from focusing on my target!"

The speaker was a sixteen-year-old red-haired girl by the name of Josephine Harris, and Sunray was her genetically altered Soulmon. As the light from what others might have assumed to be the sun dimmed considerably, a yellow furred Umbreon with black rings could be seen standing opposite the redhead. It was then that the teen lashed out with her Taser, striking a slow-moving Ekans.

The electrical assault left the Poison type paralyzed and twitching, its serpentine body jerking involuntarily.

"You know the rules, Josephine," Sunray began, sitting like a dog would. "Weapons are not to be used on other Soulmon."

"What makes you think it belongs to someone else?" Josephine retorted. "I don't see anyone coming to collect it."

"Then look behind you," came the reply. The Umbreon inclined his head and watched the event unfold.

"Meanie!" The twelve-year-old cried, picking up her Ekans Soulmon and running off.

"……" Our red-haired heroine was speechless.

Sunray was just about to open his mouth to say something when a soldier with a Torterra Soulmon started to approach them. Josephine took one last glance at the wimpy twelve-year-old before turning to face the soldier, putting her arm that held the Taser by her side as she did so. Josephine and the soldier saluted before he said, "I have a message for you from General Mc Murfree."

Josephine and Sunray looked at each other, wondering what the message would be. The soldier reached into his shirt, took out a sealed envelope and handed it to the red-haired teen.

"Go to the room written on that letter," the soldier said. "You must report there ASAP."

"Understood, sir," Josephine said, and they saluted to each other again before the soldier walked away, his Soulmon right behind him. Josephine quickly opened the letter and read its contents.

Dear Josephine and Sunray,

You have been chosen for a special mission. Please report to the storage in the basement.

Leading General of the Three Kings and head master of Oxfield,

General Mc Murfree

"I'd say we'd better go. That soldier left here quite quickly," Sunray commented. The pair hurried towards the entrance of the main building, in order to take the lift down to the storage room.

"This mission had better be good," Josephine muttered.

"I'm sure it will be. It's a special one, after all," Sunray responded, as they arrived at the storage room. They noticed dozens of other human and Soulmon pairs here already and Josephine felt bad.

We're late?! Bugger! She mentally cursed.

Jacob moved along the path from the recreational room to the basement area, where the storage room was kept. He'd been there before, mostly on retrieval duty when he was younger, but he couldn't recall ever having to go there for a mission briefing, before. "It seems odd, doesn't it?" he asked aloud, though the question was directed at Eve, who was but a few inches behind him.

<Indeed. It seems as if the general wants as few people knowing about this as possible. I cannot understand why, but it is up to him how he handles his mission briefings, is it not?> Eve regarded him with her dark orbs, watching to see his reaction.

Though he didn't want to admit it, he let out a small sigh and a nod. "True. I just wish I knew the reason for the secrecy. I wonder how much information I can glean from his shinen during the meeting," he mused aloud.

<Jacob,> the Gardevoir spoke, a disapproving note in her voice. <You shouldn't be using your power in that fashion. Reading one's emotional thoughts is for interrogations, not for your own personal interests.>

He frowned at the reprimand. "I know, I know. You know me; I'm just curious." A silence fell between the two, and Jacob regretted his rash idea. The use of their power was about the only point the two ever disagreed upon, and he knew that, but tended to press the subject, anyway.

As he approached the main building, he saw another with the apparent same destination, judging from the surface thoughts of her and her Soulmon. "Meredith!" he called out, recognizing the girl and her Dragonite from some of the Long Range classes they'd been drilled on.

Normally, he wouldn't have hailed someone; but a fresh perspective on this situation might be useful.

Samuel was very happy as he walked. In fact, he even whistled at a merry tune his father often had whistled on when he got his hands on some rare stuff he could sell at high prices. Even the sad memories of his childhood couldn't put him out of the mood tonight. He, Samuel Pinefield, was going on a secret mission! It was finally he, Samuel Pinefield's turn to shine.

"AND Hecate the Honchkrow", the Soulmon reminded him in nagging tones. She had taken extra care in grooming her feathers, and she was flying at her companion's side, lazily beating her large wings. Samuel smiled happily at her. "You didn't think I'd forget you, huh?" he said teasingly. "Well, one has to make sure one's place is remembered" came the reply. The boy merely kept smiling as he crossed through the storage building, all by himself. Or so he thought.

Samuel barely had time for the "Heads up, Samuel!" before he rounded a corner and walked straight into a considerably smaller boy than he. As their eyes met Samuel got that usual feeling of coldness and coolness, all at the same time. He struggled to his feet an saw that Hecate had landed, eyeing the boy's Glaceon with an expression he couldn't recognize, but it looked a lot like "It was your fault".

"Sorry", he said as he struggled to remember the small one's name. "You're... Michael, right? Not used to see you around here!"

The whole way to the storage room, Suke was panting and seating profusely. He wasn't sure if he would be able to handle any special assignment he was given. He was just a trainee, wasn't that much of a fighter. Alydia tried to comfort him, by listing the things he could do, but it didn't do much to help. She sighed and lied on his head, looking up at the moon. She was a bit to big for his head and almost fell off. She held her head up and noticed a girl and her umbreon walking in the same direction as them and whispered to Suke. "Hey. I think they are going to the same place as us." Suke looked over in the direction Alydia pointed to and went wide eyed. "Yes! It's not just us! And they look totally capable! I think we should stick with them, just in case he can't handle whatever we are going up against." Alydia was about to say something but had to forced herself from falling of of Suke's head, but gripping on to him ,as he ran over to the girl. "Um...Hi...Are you oging to the storage room?" He wasn't really sure what to say to her.

Alicia swept her gaze across the boy: blond hair, purple hoodie, round face and eager expression. The typical cheerful, optimist protagonist who always tries to see the good in others. In other words, the annoying type that would stick with you and try to help you no matter how much you protest. She hated them.

"Yes," she answered, glancing at the Ambipom on the boy's head. "Are you two as well?"

It's obvious they are, or they wouldn't have asked you, Aili said, licking his paw. Is it me or is your sense of observation failing you?

Alicia glared at him. It's common courtesy, she told him coolly. You ask the other person where he's going if he asks you.

And I see you are telling me that directly in my mind, instead of speaking out loud like you usually do, Aili said, blinking innocently. Really, I never knew you the type to get embarassed so easily, Alicia.

Sometimes I have the urge to kill you.

You wouldn't be you if you didn't, my friend.

I hereby give up complete hope of you ever learning what the word 'worry' means.

Mm-hmm.

Only then did Alicia notice that the boy was blinking at her, obviously confused at the prolonged silence since he could not hear her of her Soulmon talking.

"Sorry," she said briskly. "Mental philosiphical argument."

Now what part of that was philosical?

Kylie skipped happily down the hallways towards the storage room, a bright smile on her face. Mimi, her soulmon, bounded along side of her, humming cheerfully. "Boy, I hope this secret meeting means I can become a Healer sooner!" Kylie told her soulmon. "I really hope it does!" Grinning, she thought back to when she had first received the letter.
***

"Oof!" Kylise let out a grunt as Mimi landed on her stomach, holding a plain white envelope in it's mouth. "Wake up, Kylie! Wake up!" Mimi bobbed up and down on top of Kylie. Letting out another grunt, Kylie pushed her soulmon off of her and reluctlantly got into a sitting position on her soft bed. As fast as lightning, Mimi shoved her muzzle in between Kylie's hand and stuffed the letter into her palms. "Open it!" She exclaimed excitedly. "A kind soldier came and gave it to me when you were sleeping. It might be something important!"

"Ok, ok. Just calm down a sec!" She laughed as she opened up the sealed envelope. Her soulmon eagerly sat on her lap and looked through the letter with her. The young girl read the contents out loud. "Dear Kylie and Mimi, You have been chosen for a special mission," Mimi's eyes opened big and a huge smile appeared on her face as Kylie read on. "Please report to the storage room immediately. Leading General of the three kings and head master of Oxifield,"

"G-g-g-Gen..eral... M-McMurfee??!" Mimi leapt up into the air, snatching the letter from Kylie with her long tail. "Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!!!! A letter from General McMurfee himself!!" Mimi bounced up and down on the bed, a look of pure excitement on her face."

"I know I know! I can't believe this!" Kylie laughed and bounced up and down on her bed with Mimi. "This mission must be super important! I can't wait!" She stopped bouncing and grabbed Mimi, pulling her into a bear hug. "This is going to be so cool!"

***

As soon as Kylie had finished reading, they had gotten ready and left. They still had a hard time containing their excitement as they skipped through the hallways to the storage room. "This is so awesome!" Mimi shouted happily and she bounded high beside Kylie. "Can you believe it Kylie? Us. We were chosen for a secret mission by General McMurfee himself!!"

"I know!" Kylie grinned widely as she continued skipping. "I'm really curious to see what this mission is all about."

"Well whatever it is, it'll be epic!" Mimi continued humming loudly as they continued towards the storage room.

"You could slow down, you know," Claudes suggested, still trying not to be thrown off by his human's careless way of moving- clumsily and hurriedly with a bit of a monkey-like sway. Naturally, his response was a wide grin and a shrug, Sissy responding cheerfully, "Or, y'know, I could not."

Still staring stoic onward down the hall, the Ditto agreed in a rather declined way, "Yes, I guess that works too." He glanced sideways at his soul-sister, the edges of his mouth barely forming a frown, knowing all too well what was going on in the girl's mind without even using mental conversation. He could read her like an open book and speaking through telepathy wasn't necessary when they didn't exactly care who overheard their conversations. Right now, no doubt, Sissy was mulling over why they were summoned to the storage room and why the General would even care about two insignificant trainees like themselves. However, there were probably some thoughts also circling in her brain as to how she could turn this mission into a party. Or, perhaps, play a prank on McMurfree without getting yelled at for it. Silly brat.

"I won't let you do it, Sis," Claudes mentioned offhandedly as Sissy's pace decelerated when she caught sight of the last hallway just before the basement area. She outright laughed and shook her head in amusement, eyes rolling in that manner only teenagers could pull off properly, "I didn't expect anything less, Claw." He nudged her playfully and then hunkered down, planning to snooze while their meeting with the General went on. Claudes may not have trusted Sissy with much, but she was atleast mature enough not to trip the General or pants him at random without thinking of the consequences.

..Right?

Too late to think about it, because Sissy was already 'rounding a corner and stepping down a few stairs, mere yards from the storage room. Her sandals made quite flip-floppy noises as their bottoms clacked against the tile floor, but there were voices up ahead. Not in range of hearing what they said, probably separated by a few layers of wall, but it was enough to alert the duo of numberous presences all headed in the same direction. The storage room. A questioning quirk of Sissy's eyebrow didn't go unnoticed by Claudes, so he felt the need to explain things for the one-armed simpleton on whose shoulder he sat.

"What? And you thought you were the only one who got a letter?"

A half-hearted glare was his answer, annoyed by being treated like a fool but not interested in an argument over whether of not she thought that way. Then, the girl with too many piercings frowned a fraction in curious thought, mumbling in defeat, "I guess not.."

Sera reached the storage room, and blinked when she saw that a couple people where here as well. Saraph chuckled lowly as he felt her slight surprise and anger, causing the girl to glare at her Soulmon.

"Oh come on," Saraph whipsered, amusement behind his voice, "please don't tell me that you thought that only you got the letter. As if! Like the legendary General McMurfee himself would want your and only your help! 'Oh Sera, Sera! I need your help with something! Do I look good in this suit or this one!? Hurry! It's a matter of life or death here!!'"

"You just shut up there Saraph," Sera growled, then looked back to see another girl with a Ditto Soulmon coming towards them. At first she glared at the girl but then sighed deeply and started to walk away from her.

Saraph grunted at his partner's reaction and grabbed her arm. Sera spun around and opened her mouth to yell at the Charizard, but then closed it when she saw the look he was giving her. The two just stared at each other, seeming to communicate with out actually speaking to eachother with out saying anything outloud or mentally. Then, for almost no reason, Sera sighed and Saraph let go. Sera then turned to the girl who just arrived and, after taking a deep breath, walked towards her.

"Hey...nice to meet you," Sera said to the Ditto girl. "So...do you mind telling me your name...or do I have to tell you mine first? Or...do we shake hands or..."

"I'm Saraph," the Charizard Soulmon said for Sera. "And this socially shy girl is Sera. I know she may not seem like much, if you met her on the battle field then you would swear they were two different girls." He smiled kindly while Sera huffed and looked away.

So what do you think they need us for? Asked Camden.

"I don't know." Meredith blankly her hair out of her face, paused and then said accusingly, "I hope we're not in trouble"

Camden looked at the ground and started scuffling his feet. I really don't think that they could've found out about that this soon. I mean, who's going to miss a dozen boxes of plastic forks?

"I don't know, but don't you think someone is going to see thousands of them stuck in the ground at the—"

Just, just drop it. Kay? He chuckled.

It wasn't long before they saw more people ahead. This time there was two people, an Umbreon, and an Ambipom.
Say hello! Suggested Camden, It's only polite.

"Um… hi." They apparently didn't hear her so she spoke louder. "Hi there!" One of them was a boy with dirty blonde hair. He turned when he heard Meredith and waved. The girl he was walking with did not do the same. She folded her arms and kept her head straight.

I think the wave was a greeting, go up and talk to them!

"I don't really want to." Meredith looked up at Camden. "I mean, what would I get out of it?"

I thought you were working on this? You've got to be nicer to people. He saw the look on her face and rephrased himself. I mean think about it, if you are nice to them now, they will have to return the favor.

She obviously saw that as appealing because she ran up ahead of Camden to talk to the other two. He gently flew after her.

"So," she said to them as Camden landed, "Are you both heading to the storage room also?"

The girl with the dark raven hair finally looked at her "So what if we are?"

Suke stared at the girl. "With your umbreon? Cool." Suke knew that certain Soulmon could do that, but he had never met a person who had one before. "This is Alydia. And I'm Suke. Nice to meet you. I wonder what this special mission is...." Suke looked forward as they continued to walk in silence. Alydia climbed around his body. "Hey watch the gloves!" She jumped down to the ground and looked at him with a scowl. "They're hands! Not gloves! There is nothing under them!" He looked at her and smirked. "Sure sure..."

"So what if we are?" Alicia asked coolly.

Well, she obviously asked because she's going too, Aili said.

She raised her eyebrows. This girl seemed like a shy, timid person, judging by the way she had hesitantly greeted them earlier. She almost seemed unused to people. Could this girl really be good enough of a fighter to be called by General McMurfree himself? Unless she had a talent as a Healer. That was definitely possible.

She hated Healers.

They looked after the ones who fought because they couldn't. They weren't strong enough to fight so instead they tried to support others. By treating them they made themselves think they were useful.

And she definitely hated people with no guts.

This girl here didn't seem to have one bit of backbone. Her determination, if she had any, would probably not much depth in it and she looked like the kind of person that would be shaken easily. A stick with no roots to cling to, not a real tree. Someone with no pride, honor or dignity; someone that would try her best for other people but not herself, a selfless, kind person. No...what was she thinking, kind? These people were always annoying, asking you timidly if they could help you and crying like a child when you refused them...

You know, Aili said absent-mindedly. You should really stop analyzing people accurately in every possible way in 3.5 seconds. Your thought process goes so quickly I have to pretend I'm a morally unsensitive idiot in order to ignore it all. It's quite bad for my image you know?

Alicia decided not to answer him, and simply walked on, keeping a five feet distance between herself and the two overly-good-and-optimist people.

As Josephine and Sunray looked around the storage room, glancing over the other human and Soulmon pairs, the redhead stopped her activity when a man stepped in front of her. The man had white armour on, with a white cape. On the front of his armour was a crimson dragon design, the same that was on the sleeve of her shirt and she knew that it would also be on his cape. Beside him stood a tall and powerful Dragonite. Straight away, Josephine saluted, while Sunray nodded slightly at the mighty dragon Soulmon. The man waved his hand casually, informing Josephine that she could be at ease.

"It's certainly good to see you, Josephine," the man said.

"Captain Draco, good to see you too," the teen replied, as she and Sunray relaxed. "I am curious as to what the Captain of the Holy Knights wants with me, though."

"I'm just checking on how you're progressing," the Captain answered with a kind smile. "I heard your father is a paraplegic. It's really a shame; he was a very fine soldier. I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"I'm fine, sir," Josephine responded. "By the time graduation comes around, I'll be ready to join your forces."

Sunray growled mutinously, forcing Josephine to turn and glare down at him. His partner was loyal to the Holy Knights, Sunray knew that, but that didn't mean he had to like them. In fact, after they'd experimented on him, he'd always viewed them with a strong hatred. Josephine exhaled through her nose and looked back at the Captain.

"I'd like to stay, but it seems we have to go," the sixteen-year-old explained. "I believe we're needed elsewhere. Thanks for the conversation, though."

"If you need help, I'll always be here," Draco answered, moving out of the way.

"Thank you, sir," Josephine replied. Draco and his Dragonite monitored the duo as they went over to talk to one of the other human and Soulmon pairs. With their backs turned to him, Draco and his Soulmon looked at each other before walking away from the gathering.

"What did I tell you?" Meredith whispered. "Nothing is to be gained by talking to these two."

Well you may not need to talk to her, but you can still be this kids friend. They both looked at the boy walking next to them. He wore a purple sleeveless hoodie and black jeans. They clashed with his face because he was smiling a from ear to ear. He waved at them in black fingerless gloves. Camden waved back.

Don't look too bright does he?

"Who was it that was preaching about being nice to people?" Meredith whispered.

Well say something quick or you're going to look stupid too.

"So, from grumpy's answer I can assume you've been called down by McMurfree like me." Meredith said. Camden prodded her along. Now introduce yourself. "I'm Meredith, and you?"

Alicia slowed. They were approaching the stairs that led to the basement. The air was slightly chillier than before. But the two ahead of her simply continued walking without the slightest sign of realizing that if they kept on walking, they would miss the door and find themselves in the mess hall.

Oh well. Serves them right for not paying attention.

Don't you think you're jumping the gun a bit too quickly? Aili asked airily. We're not there yet. Of course they're still walking.

Alicia ignored him. She glanced at the girl and boy in front of her. From that moment on she would call them the Honey and the Hoodie.

Sweet, merciful God!

Robert and his Soulmon wandered down the narrow hallway. The excitement was getting to both of them.
"Mission," Robert repeated. He loved how the word sounded. "It sounds so... important."
"Pipe down," warned Polo, "General Mc Murfee said this was a secret, remember?"
Robert quickly nodded.

The basement door was straight ahead. Robert glanced around him to make sure nobody was watching before approaching the door. Polo rolled her eyes and smiled.
"I guess we're not the only ones involved in this mission," she whispered.
"Wha-?" Robert gasped.
The two gazed around them. There were Soulmons ranging from Charizard to Umbreon.
Robert looked up to find a group of people staring at him. He laughed lightly and waved. He recognized some of the people here. Then, he looked at Polo and staggered over to a nearby wall.
"What are they doing here?" asked Robert.
"What are we doing here?" came the reply.
Robert sighed and sat down. Polo did the same.
"I guess we'll just wait for the others then," said Polo.
"I guess so," said Robert's disappointed face.

Raion perked up suddenly, hearing voices talking not too far away. "Others, do you think?"

Katie nodded, "Makes sense, doesn't it? There is strength in numbers, sometimes. The mission, or whatever it is, must be important. Otherwise, there wouldn't be as much commotion. Hmm..."

Raion pawed at her. "Don't overanalyze. Investigate. Come on." He walked around the corner, noting two girls and a boy talking. One of the girls looked annoyed. Katie sighed softly and followed her Soulmon.

Pausing to lean against the wall, she greeted the three, "Hello there. Glad to be working with all of you." She inclined her head lightly in their direction.

Alicia gazed at the girl who had just spoken. "I'm Alicia." She turned around and walked away. She spotted a boy, leaning on the wall and, thankfully, alone. He at least didn't look like an idiot.

She stayed where she was, but it was clear she was speaking to him. "Hey. What's your name?"

Raion raised an eyebrow. "Nice girl ain't ya?" Katie shushed him lightly, rolling her eyes.

"Don't be a pain. Not everyone has to like us or want to be teammates. So deal." She was calm, turning away from Alicia to focus on the others. Raion shrugged, looking away.

"So," she began, sounding vaguely curious. "Any ideas on the situation we're in?"
