Hi just make this account so I could reply to your post. I'll be down in the pit! Somewhere in the middle, not sure where. I'm comin from north jersey, about 2 hours out.
What do you think it's gonna be like?
I heard the pokemon Co. wants it to be like it's own pokemon-convention at the concert hall.
I am stoked. I've never been to anything of the sort. I'm even pullin out clothes that look a little like Brock's.
I'd personally love to go, but unless they plan on making this a touring show, chances are I won't be able to see it. Hopefully the turnout in Philly along with the two shows in Washington will be enough to convince them to take the show on the road. Hope you guys enjoy the show, and make sure to let us know how it was!
Thanks, Brendino! Yes, I hope that this proves to be a decent turnout, and they add more locations.
FUBAR'ed, we will also be in the pit! So I will definitely see you there. I think I'm going with my "Classically Trained" red Nintendo t-shirt. It would be cool if it turns out to be a convention of sorts. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced, so I can't wait for tonight. Have a safe drive in and see you there!
I got a chance to talk to the producer and he said YES, they ARE going to schedule more shows. I it made a point to ask if they were going to come farther north, and he said they're going to release show dates across the country. So you're not entirely out of luck.
About the concert itself, though - Maybe people didn't know quite what to make of it, because it wasn't the "Big Event" everyone kept Saying & hoping it was going to be. Over all it was a normal concert that was more friendly than say, a Dropkick Murphy's concert.
People were clustering to play game boy here and there.
I didn't see a single pokemon card the entire night.
Maybe 5 out of every 100 people dressed up. Most were cool, others downright f***in scary. Like I mentioned above, my normal everyday clothes looked like Brock's so I grabbed a green vest to complete the package and everybody that stopped to chat told me I was the only "Brock" they saw. One person did take my picture and gave me a ping-pong-pokeball that they hand painted, which was awfully nice of them.
There were no tables or tents set up with things going on other than your usual concert merch. The line was so long that I didn't bother.
I heard a swarm of people screaming under one of the tents and after inquiring with my bartender I heard there were 2 "youtube famous" people in the middle. But there was nothing happening.
You might as well say the lines for Food & Drink went around the block. The wait for a burger($8) was 20 minutes, 5 for fries($5), bud light cans ($8), stella ($9) Soda ($5) Beer & wine banged up shop at 9 sharp.
$15 for parking, and there is NO re-entry for You or your vehicle. Once the woman at the gate scanned my ticket, she said "There's NO re-entry tonight"
The real problem was the layout. Everything that could have had a line, was crammed into one small courtyard right by the gates to get in. Every line there intersected with the one next to it and behind it like city streets. Most were 2 and 4 way intersections, but some up to 6.
That brings me to Ticket Price: It was fantastic. For my all inclusive 97 bucks and change through ticket master I was in the Front Row! In the center section no less. No way you can complain about that.
The Music: It was generational. I was the perfect age for Pokémon in 1998 and that's what I remember, hold near & dear, etc. But I drifted away for normal reasons around 2002. To me it really felt like they chose 15 minutes for my generation and the next 40 minutes for Ruby sapphire and crystal. Then some X & Y thrown in at the end. So the first 15 minutes the concert was incredible for me. It struck every chord I hoped it would. After that it was pretty much just pretty music that was vaguely familiar. It really did feel like every other song was ruby-crystal. Finally the last couple songs were from X & Y, which were pretty nice actually. The encore was a nice surprise, "Gotta Catch'em all"
Ages: It was mostly highschool to early 20's, and parents. It looked like there were a good amount of kids 10 & under with parents but the magic number was 15 /16 and they definitely had the biggest turnout.
Bottomline?
Go do it.
Edited: I must have been drunk out of my mind when i wrote this post. sitting here reading it & thinking "who wrote this?"
