I am planning on entering the Pokemon Video Game Tournament but I don't know who to use!! I'm planning on changing one of Charizards attacks to flamethrower since the others arent too accurate, and maybe trading Charizard for a Ho-oh with higher stats, with similar attacks. What do you guys think? And while I'm at it, what do a lot of you have against Legends if they're good? I mean, they have good attacks and high stats, so I don't understand :\

Well, please tell me what I can do to my team to make it better!!

I will leave the movesets/natures to the experts, but I will tell you that most of the items you are using are not very effective. You are much better off using Leftovers or Lum Berry or other items that would prove more beneficial.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but when I see someone using Legendaries, it screams to me that they are not skilled enough to be able to battle without them. Using ubers or cheating to get good stats just undermines your true ability. Just my opinion.

BTW - Okay, after looking at a few of your movesets, what I can tell you is that using the same type of attack on the same Pokemon is very bad strategy. For example, you have Thunder, Thunder Wave, AND Thunderbolt on Zapdos. That severly limits the effectiveness of. Also, if you insist on using ubers, please do not use Water Spout on Kyogre. Use Calm Mind, Ice Beam, Surf, and Thunder. If you don't like CM, then go with Rest and use Lum or Chesto Berry.

I think most of those are standard, cant say if you can get all those TMs without Emerald or XD...

And dont use 2 of the same type move (i.e. Flamethrower and Fire Blast)

Uber battles are way cool...but if this is going to be a uber team, you're going to have to drop charizard, vena and most likely zapdos.

Sub kyogre is cool..give it a try..if not, use the moveset endamaster gave u.

    Ray[adamant]@Choice band
    -aerial ace
    -earthquake
    -rockslide
    -brick break/extremespeed

    Mewtwo[timid]@leftovers
    -psychic
    -calm mind
    -ice beam/thunderbolt/thunder[kyogre]/recover
    -ice beam/thunderbolt/thunder/recover

    gross

it will be easy to base your team around kyogre...
    despite the fact that -

    drought teams are way cooler

The last time I said put Drill Peck, people pissed me off, so I don't have to worry about that! And never, ever put Blast Burn on Charizard! Its just like Hyper Beam. And thats way too much fire moves on Charizard.

    *♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦

Okay, it's time for a REAL team rate.
First, let me set some ground rules that I give way too often:

First of all, you should learn never to give a Pokemon two attacking moves of the same type. That means choose either Thunder OR Thunderbolt, not Thunder AND Thunderbolt. Surf OR Hydro Pump, not Surf AND Hydro Pump. Get my point?

Also, don't use items like Miracle Seed and Magnet or any other items that only boost one type. A 10% boost for only one attack type is just not worth it. The items held by your team should be mostly Leftovers, with Choice Band for certain physical attackers and maybe a certain berry on rare occasions.

Finally, never EVER use Hyper Beam or Elemental Hyper Beams (Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant, Hydro Cannon). That loss of turn after the move means that the enemy will either kill you, stat boost and then kill you, or switch to a stronger Pokemon and kill you.

    Zapdos - Lvl 100
    Item: Leftovers
    Drill Peck
    Thunderbolt
    Rest/Substitute
    Sleep Talk/Light Screen/Thunder Wave

Wow, that's a lot of Electric attack huh? Guess what this Zapdos can do to Electric Pokemon like Jolteon? NOTHING, because they'll resist all your attacks. And it'll do even less to things like Rhydon, Golem, etc. Zapdos needs at least two support moves. That means things like Substitute, Thunder Wave, and Light Screen that don't do any damage but help out your Pokemon A LOT. I like Rest+Sleep Talk, because when you Rest you'll recover all your damage and when you Sleep Talk you can attack even while asleep. You can also use the other attacks I put above.

    Kyogre - Lvl 83
    Item: Leftovers
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Thunder
    Calm Mind

Hey, gets what this Kyogre can't handle? Water Pokemon.
Guess what's supereffective against Water Pokemon? Electric attacks.
Guess what Electric attack is strong and always hits in the rain? Thunder.
Guess what this Kyogre needs? Thunder.
Good, you've manage it that far. Now, lets see, Earthquake is good against Electrics that Kyogre is weak against right? But Surf does so much more damage, and that makes Earthquake useless. Uh oh, we need another move to replace it! Go with Calm Mind, that boost Kyogre's Sp. Attack and makes it a MONSTER.

    Venusaur - Lvl 87
    Item: Leftovers
    Sludge Bomb
    Sleep Powder
    Leech Seed
    Synthesis/Razor Leaf

Let's do this the same way we did with Zapdos:
Wow, that's a lot of Grass attacks huh? Guess what this Venusaur can do to Poison Pokemon like Gengar or Crobat? NOTHING, because they'll resist all your attacks. And it'll do even less to things like Metagross, Skarmory etc. Venusaur needs at least two support moves. That means things like Synthesis, and Leech Seed that don't do any damage but help out your Pokemon A LOT. It even works with only 1 attack and 3 support moves. Go on and try it!

    Rayquaza - Lvl 85
    Item: Leftovers
    Aerial Ace
    Earthquake
    Extremespeed
    Rock Slide

You know what? I'm tired of all these Special attackers. You need at least one Pokemon who can attack PHYSICALLY. Rayquaza is perfect for this job. Okay, give it this item called Choice Band. It powers up your attack by 50%, but limits you to only one move. That's okay, because you can always switch out and in again to use another move. Now Rayqauza is a powerhouse with 4 strong physical attacks. Hooray!!!

    Mewtwo - Lvl 84
    Item: Leftovers
    Psychic
    Thunderbolt
    Recover
    Calm Mind/Flamethrower/Ice Beam

Wow, this set is almost good. But Toxic? Please, Mewtwo has so many other choices. One of the best is Calm Mind, or you can add another special attack in.

    Charizard - Lvl 95
    Item: Leftovers
    Earthquake
    Aerial Ace
    Dragon Dance/Swords Dance

    Fire Blast

Let's turn Charizard into a mixed sweeper. Charizard can attack both physically and specially. Aerial Ace and Fire Blast are STAB moves (hopefully you know what STAB means), Earthquake is your only real chance against Rock types, and then you've got an attack booster.

I'm planning on changing one of Charizards attacks to flamethrower since the others arent too accurate, and maybe trading Charizard for a Ho-oh with higher stats, with similar attacks. What do you guys think?
Eh, if you want a Ho-oh, then replace Kyogre with Groudon. Ho-oh works best in the Sun, and Kyogre's Drizzle ruins Ho-oh. In fact, it also ruins your Charizard.

And while I'm at it, what do a lot of you have against Legends if they're good? I mean, they have good attacks and high stats, so I don't understand :\
There are two types of legends – normal legends and super legends (better known as ubers). Normal legends are like Zapdos, Suicune, Regice. They're stats aren't as good as ubers so they're perfectly fine to use. But ubers have huge stats and learn so many good moves that they're unfair to use against weaker Pokemon. They also make the game boring. What if your favorite Pokemon was not a legend and you wanted to use it against ubers? Uh oh, you can't because ubers will crush you. You'll be forced to use ubers of your own and that limits the Pokemon you can battle with and that makes the game stale and boring.

    Too many Electric attacks. Really.

    Kyogre - Lvl 83
    Item: Mystic Water
    Calm Mind
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Thunder

Kyogre's Drizzle makes it rain. Thunder's accuracy is raised to 100% in the rain; so you can get a good win against the other water pokemon Kyogre will face. Also, Kyogre has uberly-high Sp.Att., so use Calm Mind to up it.

    Venusaur - Lvl 87
    Item: Miracle Seed
    Sludge Bomb
    Sleep Powder
    Solarbeam
    Sunny Day

Always, ALWAYS, have sunny day on a Pokemon who has Solerbeam. Your opponant can a) Change to a Pokemon who can resist the attack or b) KO you. With sunny Day solerbeam attacks right away.

    Rayquaza - Lvl 85
    Item: Leftovers
    Dragon Claw
    Thunderbolt
    Ice Beam
    Bulk Up

    Pretty Good.

    Mewtwo - Lvl 84
    Item: Kings Rock
    Psychic
    Psych Up
    Recover
    Toxic
Lots of Thunderbolt already on this team.

    Charizard - Lvl 95
    Item: Charcoal
    Sunny Day
    Dragon Claw
    Overheat
    Rest

USe Sunny Day so you can get rid of Kyogre's Drizzle; witch is a problem for our Fire Friend here. Rest will help you keep him in Battle.

I am planning on entering the Pokemon Video Game Tournament but I don't know who to use!! Don't Trade Charizard. Overall, There are WAY too many Ubers here.

-whewf- That was my first rating... Anyone mind saying how I did?

    *♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦

Well, CrystalLatias, I guess I can rate your rate lol.

-Firstly, you're using too many weather moves. If you want Pokemon to be based around weather, then create a team that uses only Sunny Day or only Rain Dance. Don't use the two together, because you'll be forced to change the weather everytime Kyogre comes out. That's means you be wasting one turn and give your opponent the advantage of killing you, or stat boosting and then killing you.

-Why are you giving Rayquaza Bulk Up when it has no physical moves?

-How is Psych Up any better on Mewtwo than the wide variety of other options it has, like Calm Mind or another strong special attack?

-Neither Toxic nor Protect are good on Zapdos. Toxic+Protect can be used together, but Toxic alone isn't going to do much. The enemy will either heal itself or use something like Substitute to block Toxic.

    *♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦

I think you went a little happy with Rain Dance/Sunny Day. It is better strategy to go one way or the other. Take out Kyogre and add Groudon, or take out Charizard and add Swampert. For Zapdos, Substitute > Protect. For Venusaur, you are right that when your opponent sees your Poke charging up, it will switch out, but your opponent will do the same thing when you use Sunny Day. For Rayquaza, you don't have any physical moves for it to benefit from Bulk Up. It is an unnecessary and wasted move. Plus, your only physical move on the entire team is Venusaur's Sludge Bomb. Change RayRay to a physical attacker. See aragorn's suggestion for it above. Also, take your advice about Kyogre and apply it to Mewtwo. Remove Psych Up and Toxic and add Calm Mind and Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Thunderbolt. Lastly, if Charizard is going to stay around, do not use Overheat, unless you plan on having it hold White Herb. WH will replenish the SAtk loss that you receive from OH. Then give it Earthquake instead of Rest, since I suddenly realized that EQ is severely lacking on this team. Otherwise not bad.

Oops, looks like aragorn beat me.

The beautiful thing about Zapdos in-game battling is that it has the opportunity to do so many things to so many pogeyz. Just make sure you keep it well protected, it's excellent for late-game cleanups.

    Kyogre - Lvl 83
    Item: Leftovers
    Calm Mind
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Thunder[bolt]/Substitute

Thunder would be great if you can get your hands on it, but if not pull for a T-Bolt TM. IIRC you've already blown past CM on Kyogre, so get yourself over to the Move Tutor with a Heart Scale and get it back: It's important.

    Venusaur - Lvl 87
    Item: Leftovers
    Sludge Bomb
    Sleep Powder
    Leech Seed
    Swords Dance/Razor Leaf

Eh, not the greatest for in-game battling, but if it's your only option, you can keep it around. The Move Tutor will be your best friend.

    Rayquaza - Lvl 85
    Item: Choice Band/Leftovers
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide/Dragon Dance
    Extremespeed
    Aerial Ace

You have enough pokemon on your team already that are working on the special aspect of things: Get this thing a physical moveset and you're in good shape.

    Mewtwo - Lvl 84
    Item: Leftovers
    Psychic
    Thunderbolt
    Recover
    Calm Mind

    Calm Mind on Mewtwo.

    Charizard - Lvl 95
    Item: Leftovers
    Flamethrower
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
    ----------

Final move I'd have to know what you have available to you.

In terms of weaknesses, it really isn't a bad team by any stretch of the imagination. The biggest thing you need to keep in mind is the weaknesses your pogeyz have and how to switch accordingly, as well as not getting greedy.

Don't use 10% boosters or have attacking moves of the same type except in SOME special occasions, you don't have one.

    Kyogre - Lvl 83
    Item: Leftovers
    Calm Mind
    Surf
    Ice Beam/Rest
    Thunder

Rest gives it more longevity, but Ice Beam works well too. It's all a matter of what you like better I-beam or Rest.

    Venusaur - Lvl 87
    Item: Leftovers
    Sludge Bomb
    Sleep Powder
    Earthquake
    Leech Seed/Swords Dance

If you want physical Venu that's what you should use.

    Rayquaza - Lvl 85
    Item: Leftovers
    Dragon Dance
    Extremespeed.
    Earthquake

    Aerial Ace

    Mewtwo - Lvl 84
    Item: Leftovers
    Psychic
    Thunderbolt/Calm Mind
    Recover
    Ice Beam/Calm Mind

Replace I-Beam or T-bolt for CM.

    Charizard - Lvl 95
    Item: Leftovers
    Flamethrower
    Earthquake
    Sub
    Focus Punch

This thing is fun to use.

There is nothing wrong with using Legendaries, and ubers have their own metagame.
