Poke'mon: The Challenge

Arriving at Snowpoint City by foot, Kenneth took a sharp look at the environment. It was just like the last time he was there. The tired Luxray stretched it's back like a cat and yawned. Ken's pokeball on his belt began to wiggle and Weavile popped out, and began to run around in circles, excited about being back home. She looked at her trainer and smiled, causing him to smile in return.

The pokemon Center was in sight. Weavile ran to the center Ken and Luxray followed. He gestured at Nurse Joy, but before he could say anything she pointed down the hall and resumed working. Without saying a word he trotted off to the door.

Catching a glance of the door closing he stops it. He returned Weavile to her pokeball and walked in...

Upon entering the room Fyora's nerves increased. The best of the best were there, the champions of all the nearby regions, including Lance. She recognized him immediately due to his long cape and spiky red hair. He had made trips to visit Clair when Fyora had been inside the gym before, but she'd never had the opportunity to speak to him, nor had she felt like she'd had the right. He didn't so much as glance at her, which made her think there must be more people on the way. This seemed to be affirmed when a young man joined her and another girl. Unwilling to seem disrespectful she remained standing straight-backed as she waited for more to come. Razor was even quiet, as he knew he was in the presence of great battlers who he could learn from if only he didn't offend them. Fyora's eyes continuously flitted to the door. She wished people would move faster; she wanted to get started.

Closing the door behind him, Kenneth takes a glance around the room. He notices Cynthia standing on the other side of the room. Inside he wanted to impress her, but instead he just leaned against the wall. Luxray walked back and forth in front of her trainer and examined the area to ensure it was safe for Ken. She became eased and laid by his legs placing her head on top of her front paws.

The entire time he was in the room he looked over Cynthia's way. Luxray began to growl and looked over to Ken. He knew what she was thinking, and couldn't help but let out a small smile.

Ken looked over at the other trainers in the room and shook his head. A few minutes later he stared into the ceiling and waited for any announcement.

Mariah stared at the table taking up most of the space in the room. There were fourteen chairs there, and four of them were occupied from people who looked incredibly grand, most of whom were wearing capes. She giggled at how they must have stolen that idea from Lance. They were talking amongst themselves quietly. There were also two others in the room...regular trainers it seemed, maybe the 'select others' mentioned in the letter. Mariah quickly pulled out her letter and examined, for the billionth time. Nope, it didn't mention any names whatsoever. One of the people looked up at them - a blonde lady. "You guys can certainly sit down, no reason to keep you standing up like that." The other three people nodded. Even sitting down, Lance looked intimidating. Her face felt warm. Mariah. Just sit down already. Far away from Lance. She nodded to herself, and presented one of her frequent challenges. She challenged herself not to talk to Lance if at all possible. She sat down in the chair closest to her and crossed her legs.

At the order to be seated, Fyora found a chair that she felt was an equally safe distance from everyone, champions and other trainers alike. Although she could be friendly and warm, now was not a time where she felt like being openly social. She crossed the room to the specified chair and sat, removing Razor from her shoulders as she did and placing him in her lap. What would the champions say, she wondered? Where would she be staying? What would they be doing? And of course, what sort of people would she be with? That was always important to her. There were sorts of people she could get along with, and sorts that she could not. Fyora often knew from the first five minutes of speaking to someone how their overall relationship would be. She could only hope she wouldn't have issues with anyone there. She would certainly try her best not to.

Stroking Razor's fur, she calmed down slowly. Lance was just another trainer, as were all the other champions. They had all started out as beginners at some point too. They'd just excelled beyond the capabilities of others. If she spent the entire time being nervous and scared, she might lose the chance to learn from them, and she didn't want that.

After hearing the blonde lady say, "You guys can certainly sit down, no reason to keep you standing up like that." Ken nodded and said "Alright." He sat down and slouched on the chair in the corner of the room. As always following Ken, Luxray stood up and sat next to his feet. Looking around the room once more, Kenneth said with a loud tone "What are we waiting for?" Usually he'll never speak up, but his tiredness of waiting got the best of him. Remained quiet for an answer. Impatiently Ken fingers ran along the tips of his pokeballs on his belt, and began petting Luxray. Anxiousness overwhelmed him, but he refused to show any emotion as he waited.

He felt one of the pokeballs move, and he knew Weavile was bored and wanted to play. To prevent her from escaping the red and while ball he gripped it tight.

Sitting on the chair in the room filled with a few people he sighed then waited...

Takumi left the Pokémon Center as if he had just seen a ghost. Why would anyone want to choose him to participate in an elite event? He only had four badges, and he was barely able to get those four. Maybe it was a set-up. Maybe someone knew who he was.

"What do you think we should do?" He asked his two Pokémon. Denki shook her head as if to say yes. Umbreon didn't reply at all. "Well," he thought. "I guess we'll go."

The train ride to Snowpointe City was a long one. The captain had told him that he would have to recall his Pokémon, but a quick look at Denki's and Umbreon's faces told him that a move like that would be terribly foolish.

"I don't think I can." Takumi replied.
"Well, I'll let it slide this time, but you're gonna have to pay extra fare." That was no problem at all. It was a lot better than getting shocked to death.

While on board, Takumi saw some interesting figures. Maybe they're going the same way as I am, he thought. He looked out the window as Denki and Umbreon slept. I hope this ride is over already, he wished to himself. His vision grew cloudy and the next minute, he was asleep.

Skreeeee!!! The train stopped abruptly. Takumi was knocked out of his seat. Denki and Umbreon both jumped to their feet, ready to attack.

"We've arrived at Snowpointe City," said a voice over the intercom. "Thank you for choosing the Sinnoh Magnet Train." At this, Takumi and all of the other passengers exited the train. The next stop was the Pokémon Center.

As he approached the desk, he noticed that Nurse Joy almost seemed to read his mind. "Lance is down the hall, third door on the right." She pointed him in the direction.

"Thanks," he replied, grateful that he didn't have to say anything. He went in the direction he was pointed towards and entered the room.

Upon entering the room, Takumi noticed that there were many people who were already there. He recognized Lance, a bunch of people who seemed to be his followers, and Cynthia. He grew excited at seeing so many big shots in one room. Then, he saw that there were a lot of not-so-big shots. Oh great, I'm late, he thought to himself. Now all eyes are gonna turn on you and…

"You can sit if you'd like." Cynthia was looking at him.

"Oh, right." Takumi took a seat in the back row. Not until I get to know some of these people, he told himself. He looked around the room. There was one girl with a Sneasel. There was another boy with a Luxray just like his. It was also female. Oh no, he thought. He looked over at his own Luxray. Her eyes began to gleam. Rivalry's effect didn't last long, as Denki and Umbreon had soon relaxed themselves and fallen asleep. He wished he could sleep himself, but that would be embarrassing.

Kirkiri's head was literally overflowing with thoughts. She had to take the boat, but that wasnt what was bothering her. "Ray." Gala said calmly, nudging her leg as if to tell her not to be worried. Petra was sleeping quietly not too far away. "I know Gala, but what if the other chosen trainers are all older then me? I really dont need to be made fun of for being the youngest one there." Kir said, her voice sounding more like a growl at the last part. The boat stopped, and Petra woke up when Gala nudged him slightly. Kir waited as Petra climbed up onto Gala's head. Once Petra had a good grub on Gala's mane, she ran off the boat with Gala only a short way behind her. She slowed down once she got to the Pokemon Center and took a deep breath. Gala nudged her slightly and she stepped inside. Nurse joy immediately pointed to a hallway, and Kir went in the direction nurse Joy pointed to. She stopped once she finally got to the door at the end of the hallway. She was nervous, but nothing showed it. She carefully opened the door and stepped inside the room. Inside there were a few trainers and two of the champions, Cynthia and Lance. Gala stepped inside the room, Petra still on his head. Seeing everybody was seated, Kir sat in a seat that was a little farther away from everybody else. Gala sat on the floor next to her, and Petra just yawned.

Atleast im not the youngest...

Hiding within the warmth of her jumper, Molly Jules was thankful for the Pokemon Center's comfort and warmth as soon as she stepped foot inside. The young girl had never seen snow in all of her sixteen years, let alone ventured outside of the region she'd grown up in.

Looking around the center's lobby, Molly spotted the familiar face of Nurse Joy. Smiling, Molly then reached into her backpack, her cold fingers coming into contact with the warm red and white sphere as she approached the nurse.

Molly was directed down a hallway. The door was slightly ajar with light flooding through the crack and voices floating through the crisp, cold air. Before opening the door, as quietly as she could, Molly pressed the button on the Pokeball in her hand. Before her eyes stood her faithful friend and alter ego, a small blue creature with a beaming grin. His tail flapped on the ground happily, making a solid 'thud' sound.

"Sticky, be quiet," Molly whispered as she picked the Wooper up. "This is important, so please, don't cause any mischief,"

Molly, with Sticky and his beaming smile in her arms, pushed the door to her future open.

Shadow came into the Snowpoint Pokemon center. Walking in, he showed his letter to the nurse Joy at the front desk. "Just go through the back sweetie Theyr'e waiting for you." "they? I thought it was just Cynthia.Oh well." Not saying any of this out loud, Shadow proceded to the back with a large smile on his face. As it would turn out, this door would be his first enemy. Shadow sat and struggled with the door for about 7 minutes. "Oh come on!" he muttered. "Am i really so weak that I cant open a door that's slightly stuck?" Shadow looked down at his arms. All bone. His patience wearing thin, he chucked Luke's pokeball at it as he yelled "Luke use low kick!" Luke came out and stared at Shadow like he was crazy. "Luke you heard me, USE LOW KICK!" Sighing, Luke turned back towards the door and knocked. A few seconds later, Shadow heard the doornob turn on the opposite side. Cynthia popped her head out of the crack and said "come on in Egg boy." Pondering what she meant, Shadow followed her inside.

When Shadow entered the room, he was amazed. Every League Champion was sitting in a room along with some other trainers. Shadow glanced at everyone, and sat down in the large room. as close to Cynthia as possible. Remembering that he had Luke out, he released the rest of his team, Dimond and Blooney. Shadow sat down and relaxed, staring at Blooney's odd coloring. He heard Cynthia whisper something, but he didn't quite hear it. Shiny maybe? Shadow shrugged. He didn't really care what was so special about Blooney, he was just happy she was unique. Then he turned back to Cynthia and said "Oh by the way, your door is slightly jammed." Cynthia giggled. Shadow looked at her confusedly and shook his head. What was up with this woman? Sighing, shadow relaxed and waited at the door for the other trainers, if any, to come.

As more people begin to file in, Fyora's excitement grew. There were diverse teams here, including ones involving Pokemon she had never seen before. They were probably unique to another region, but that didn't mean she wouldn't learn all she could about them, and maybe travel to that other region and capture a few for herself.

Following suit of the others in the room, Fyora released more of her Pokemon. She let Asterisk out first; the little Eevee needed time to socialize with his new master and teammates. Next came Rayna, for she knew she could trust her not to fight with the others. Joan, Maru, and Dot remained securely in their balls. Three to watch at a time was more than enough. While Rayna curled up in her lap like a puppy, Razor climbed up to her shoulders and Asterisk sat proudly at her feet. He still refused to touch her whenever possible. It was a problem they would have to learn to combat.

Looking around, she realized most trainers' Pokemon had evolved, while hers were all still at their first stage. It didn't bother her as much as she thought it probably should. Just because they were smaller didn't make them any less competent as battlers.

Takumi looked off from his little spot away from the others. More people were beginning to come in. That meant this meeting would get on in a little while. That was good. He couldn't wait to see what was in store for them. He began to draw the scene that was before him. If he was going to be waiting here, he might as well do something. Denki and Umbreon were both still asleep. The egg in his lap wiggled a little. Argh! If only he could call out Rapidash so that she could take care of the egg. Then he could draw without any problems. Oh well, just have to do what I can, he thought.

Molly nearly gasped out loud as she entered the room. Sticky wiggled his legs about, happily oblivious, still locked in his trainer's grasping hug. Molly had never seen Lance, Cynthia or any Champion in person, much less been in the same room as any of them. Strong and determined, both champions stood proud. Molly thrust out of her mind the thought that she should not have been there.

Molly then took a seat after receiving a welcoming smile from Cynthia. Molly felt a little better about this whole thing, yet she was still quite nervous.

Sticky, happy to be remotely free, did his best to make some noise among the silence of the trainers, their Pokemon and the champions, thumping his tail on the table.

Impatiently waiting for any announcement, Ken closes his eyes and begins to rock his chair. Thoughts flooded through his mind.
He opens his eyes and finds himself in the Sinnoh league stadium. Across from him was the bully of his past. The same emotion flowed through him as it did during that day. Anger, frustration, a bit of sadness. He gripped his pokeball and threw it into the air.

The massive Torterra appears and lets out a loud roar. Smirking, the boy across Ken releases his Rhyperior.
The ground shook tremendously as both Pokemon stomping, as well as the crowd cheering.

"EARTHQUAKE!" Shouted Kenneth. The gigantic foot of Torterra caused an earthquake, shaking the stadium. Rhyperior seemed to absorb the shock quiet well. This only angered Ken more, and he shouts another order at Torterra.

"FRENZY PLANT!" Hug roots appeared from the ground and tried to strangled the huge horned Pokemon Rhyperior. It only failed horribly, and he didn't know why.

Feelings of hatred, despair had woken up Kenneth from his daydream. Luxray looked up at her disoriented trainer, as he had trouble breathing and lacked focus. Which he never has, only once. He padded the tip of her nose and apologized. Ken takes a look around, and sees more trainers have gathered in the room.

"I hope all this waiting is worth it." he said really quietly to himself. As he collected back his thoughts.

Kirkiri looked around for a few minutes. Some of the trainers didnt even look like they belonged here, and she was probably one of them. She didnt have any gym badges, and she only had four pokemon. Petra and Fyllo hadnt even evolved once yet, to make it worse. Kir definately wasnt the most impressive looking one in the room. She reached her hand over and scratched Gala's neck, and he let out a small noise that sounded like a purr. After a few minutes, she heard a thumping noise. She looked around and saw that it was one of the trainers' Wooper. She looked over to Petra, who looked a little annoyed by the fact that there were so many other pokemon around. "Calm down Petra." Kir whispered. She looked around for a few minutes again. Most of the trainers had atleast three pokemon out, while she only had Petra and Gala out. She thought she might as well keep it that way. It wasnt like it was going to change anybody else's oppinion on her. Not only that, there were too other problems. Pteryga would steal things, and Fyllo was just too friendly. She continued to look around and saw somebody sitting farther away from everybody. It looked like he was drawing, too. Another guy looked like he had completely zoned out for a while. Then there was the girl with the Wooper, and another girl with an Eevee and some other pokemon. There was also a guy with a Drifloon and some others, along with the Champions. The guy who was sitting farther away lookes interesting. He had out a Luxray and an Umbreon.

Im gonna try and get him to battle me later...

OOC: OK, for the chamions...Blue will be blue [:)] Steven will be grey, Cynthia will be red, and Lance will be green. I'm talking about text colors.

Mariah smiled nervously as more and more people were arriving. They were all releasing their Pokemon everywhere. She reached into her pocket for four small orbs. The warmest one she reached for first - Flare. Her constant companion, but...there wasn't really room in here for the Rapidash. She reached for a different Pokeball...Oddish. She nodded, though she was still curious as to why the little Pokemon had not evolved. She removed Oddish's Pokeball from her pocket and pressed the white button on it just after the orb enlarged. "Odd-d?" the little Pokemon asked quietly, the leaves sprouting from its head just brushing Mariah's chin as it stood on her lap. She had another Pokemon that there was room here for...Magnemite. No...if he starts wreaking havoc I'll have a problem. I'll just stick with Oddish. That decided, she did clutch Flame's Pokeball for encouragement. Flame was her best friend, although Oddish was a close second. She challenged herself again - not to let Flame out of her Pokeball while she was in this Pokemon Center.

Steven stood slowly, looking around. He counted the people in the room for the second or third time. There had been nine invitations sent out, and there were seven people here, aside from the Champions. Were the other two coming? He couldn't know. Either way... "Alright everyone!" he called to all of the apparently antisocial trainers. "We're only waiting for a few more people now. If anyone needs Nurse Joy to look at their Pokemon, that should happen now." he looked around again. I sure hope these trainers are hiding a few things...this is all we've got to work with... Steven sat back down.

Looking at everyone else in the room Ken stands up and says he'll be back. He exits the room with Luxray following. Feeling out of breath he leaves the pokemon center and informs Nurse Joy, if the meeting starts to get him. She agrees and continues working. The brisk cool air was what he needed to clear his mind. Finding a nearby tree stump, Ken sits down and releases all his pokemon.

Weavile, Gallade, Skuntank, Torterra, Rotom-H, and finally Luxray all stood before him.

"Get some air. By the looks of it, we'll be here for awhile." As always Weavile would run around, Skuntank would take a nap, Torterra watches over everyone and Gallade would fight against trees.

The quietness of Snowpoint city has always soothed him, and the smell of being outdoors calmed him down. Remembering all the faces he seen in the room while waiting, sort of impressed him. He wondered why he was invited here, but couldn't think of anything.

Several people stopped by him and watched his vast verity of Pokemon. A young boy around the age of seven walked up and asked if he and his friends could climb on Torterra.

"Ok, but be careful. Torterra." The huge pokemon walked over and laid on his belly. Even while laying down he maintain a huge height. Within minutes kids were climbing Torterra's tree and sitting on his back. The parents thanked Ken for allowing the kids to play.

After a while he called back all his pokemon to their pokeballs and enters the pokemon center. Getting his pokemon healed by Nurse Joy, Ken lays on the couch and kicks his feet up and takes a nap.

Takumi looked up from his sketch book. The room seemed to be getting a little more excited. Steven had just stood up and let everyone know that the meeting would be starting soon. Someone had just left the room. A few people had let out there Pokemon. The girl with a Larvitar and Luxray was looking over in his direction. He looked away really fast. Did she see him? Nah. He pretended to be interested in something in the opposite direction and then went back to his drawing. It won't be long, he thought to himself, as he was once again engulfed in his drawing...

All this waiting was making Sticky anxious. His impatience showed as he continually thumped his tail about, wanting to move about the room. Molly felt her cheeks flush.

"Sticky, stop it," Molly could not believe how Sticky, the Wooper she'd known for so many years could still act like a baby Pokemon. Sticky beamed at her, completely oblivious.

Then before Molly could react, Sticky leapt out of his trainer's lap, hitting the floor in a very ungraceful manner. Molly, wide-eyed, watched as Sticky made his way over to another trainer who had an Oddish seated on her lap. The little Pokemon stared up at the grass Pokemon with his beaming smile. Molly dare not look at the Champions, she was sure they didn't have Pokemon as crazy as Sticky.
