Chapter One: A Case Revealed
20-year-old Misty Waterflower of Cerulean City gazed out at the azure sky on the train, depression in her emerald orbs. Misty had grown beautifully and her red hair now stopped at the mid length of her back that was tied into an elegant bun and boys were often attracted to her, but Misty simply ignored their gagging comments. Misty changed greatly for the past 4 years she departed from Brock and Ash to go her own direction. Misty was slightly bitter towards her friends and random people who approach her to ask a question or so and was really moody. Her tomboyish personality still lingered inside her, but instead of being loud and pretty much open, Misty was quiet.
Misty heaved a sigh. Misty was on a train to Blackthorn City where she'd meet Clair (Clair is in charge of the Rising Badge on Pokemon in Johto on the episode, "Beauty Is Skin Deep") for her birthday party. 'I wish I would've told Ash how I felt before he was with Dawn,' Misty sobbed mentally.

Flashback: 4-years-ago
It was a bright, cheery evening in Pallet Town and Ash's 16th birthday party. Every one of Ash's friends were there chatting and having fantastic time.
"So, this is the day you tell Ash how you feel, Misty!" May chirped.
"I wonder if he'll feel the same. Do you think so, May?"
"Of course. You're a great girl Misty. Why in the world wouldn't he feel the same way?"
"Thanks. Well, here I go."
"Good luck."
Misty paced over to Ash nervously, sweat moisturizing her hands. "Relax, Misty. Ash won't hurt you. Um, Ash?"
"Yeah, Misty."
"I just wanted to say that I li-"
"Oh, wait, before you say anything, I'd like to introduce you to someone really special to me," Ash interrupted, a smirk curving at his mouth. "Misty I'd like to introduce you to my girlfriend."
"G-girlfriend," Misty repeated, feeling tears well up in her eyes as Dawn appeared before her eyes. "D-Dawn is your girlfriend?"
"Yeah, isn't it great! We sorta got together over our travels together. So, what was it you wanted to tell me, Misty?"
"Oh, nothing," Misty replied, flashing the new couple Ash and Dawn a false smile. "Um, I think I need some fresh air. Congratulations by the way to you, Dawn."
"Thanks, Misty." Dawn pecked Ash on the cheek, making Misty feel even worse.
"I'll see you guys later, then."
"Hmm? I wonder what's up with Misty?" Ash pondered.
May glanced back at Misty as she was slow dancing with Drew (Drew and May settle their differences and became close friends). "Excuse me Drew, I need to talk with Misty."
"Alright."
"Hey Misty, what's up!? How'd it go with As-" May trailed off and her smile formed into a frown as she saw the sad expression and tears streaming down Misty's face.
"Misty, what's the matter? Why are you crying?"
"Ash is with Dawn now," Misty mumbled, wiping away her tears.
"I'm so sorry, Misty," May apologized.
"It's not your fault, it's mine. I should've told him how I felt before this ever happened. I might as well forget about Ash."
"Misty."
"I need some time to think. I'm going to go for a walk... Alone."
The last firm word Misty said sent chills down the marrow of May's bones.
Flashback Ended
Misty had gotten over Ash on the outside and inside, but in her heart, the image of Ash and Dawn together made her heart ache. Misty averted her attention away from the sky to her sleeping Togepi. A tiny smile formed. Misty gently rocked Togepi before deciding to take a nap of her own to kill the dull, boring time she had on the train.
"Misty...Misty...Misty, wake up!" a voice boomed.
"What is it, Bridgette?" Misty yawned groggily. Togepi let out a drowsy yawn also.
The brunnette replied, "We've arrived here in Blackthorn City. I'll escort you out with your luggage," Bridgette offered.
"Thanks, Bridgette." The two woman carefully made their way off the train. "I hope you enjoy your stay here in Blackthorn City, Misty."
"Thank you."
"Good-bye!"
Misty waved after the well mannered woman. "Alright Togepi, let's head over to Clair's place before we miss all of the fun."
"Toge-piiiiiiiiii!"
The trio headed towards their destination and just when they were coming in the area of the gym, they both came across posters taped throughout Blackthorn City. "Huh, I wonder what these posters could be?" Misty analyzed the first poster she laid her teal eyes on. It read:
ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS AND OUTSIDERS OF BLACKTHORN CITY, THERE HAVE BEEN MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARNACES AROUND BLACKTHORN CITY. IF ANYBODY HAPPENS TO COME ACROSS ANY CLOTHING OR ACCESSORIES ON THIS POSTER, CONTACT OR REPORT THIS INFORMATION TO THE POLICE STATION IMMEADIATELY! OFFICER JENNY
"Mysterious disappearances, huh? Sounds interesting to me." Misty, along with Togepi, took a closer look at the 8 people on the poster.
"Hey, you!" a voice called.
Misty darted around to find Officer Jenny dashing towards her. "Is there anything wrong, Officer Jenny?"
"You look awfully strange. Are you an outsider because I haven't seen you before around Blackthorn City?"
"Sort of. I'm here to attend the gym leader Clair's birthday party. She invited me 2 weeks ago. Here's my proof." Misty handed the invitation to Officer Jenny.
"Sorry about the misunderstanding, Misty," Officer Jenny apologized, rubbing the back of her head embarrassingly. "I'm sure you've read the poster that were posted around the city about the disappearances and I've just been very suspicious about outsiders. Anybody from here or outside could be the suspect. If you happen to come across anything relating to these people, you come to the station immediately. Here's a copy of the eight people's pictures and profiles."
"Thanks, but when did all this start, Officer Jenny?"
"I believe three months ago when Diana Ginger and her daughter Kimmy Ginger moved in. I've been getting reports from the citizens that they saw Kimmy around those people when they went missing."
"Kimmy could be the kidnapper you know."
"I don't really understand how she could be, considering she's only ten. Why won't you come with me to meet the Ginger family Misty before you head on over to your party."
"Sure, the party starts in 45 minutes anyway."
"Excellent!"
~~~~
"Knock, knock, knock, Mrs. Ginger, are you home!?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Oh hello there, Officer Jenny. Who's this lovely young lady?"
Misty blushed. "I'm Misty Waterflower, Mrs. Ginger," Misty introduced herself. "Nice to meet you."
"It's a pleasure to meet you too." Diana Ginger was an alluring blonde haired woman with the loveliest amber eyes anybody stared into.
"Please, come in. Would any of you like any teacakes or green tea?"
"No thank you," Officer Jenny and Misty declined. "Mrs. Ginger, Misty and I came over to maybe ask you a few questions about your daughter Kimmy."
"What about Kimmy, Officer?"
"I'm not trying to offend you or your daughter,ma'am, but I've been getting reports from the citizens that Kimmy was the last seen with the missing people before they were suddenly gone. Your daughter could maybe be the kidnapper."
"I was afraid this would happen again," Mrs. Ginger sighed.
"What do you mean?" Misty asked.
"I might as well admit it. 3-years-ago my husband died in a tragic car accident in Viridian City. Kimmy grieved for months about Dan's death and performed a resurrection spell 4 months after his death, but the spell went totally wrong. I read the book she used to perform it and it said that if the spell is a complete failure, the user would be cursed with an evil spirit who was the author of the book. The author kidnapped many innocent people and sapped their sould right from their bodies, leaving them dead. I thought the book was only some omen, but a month later, the same kidnappings were going on all over again and many people also reported that Kimmy was the last with them. Officer Jenny forced us to leave Viridian City for the safety of the people living so she could peacefully continue the case without anymore interruptions. The same thing happened in each town or city we decided to live in and now I'm starting to think Kimmy is behind all of this."
"Thank you for the information, ma'am, but I think you should keep a close eye on Kimmy from now on. You're a very sweet woman Mrs. Ginger and it would really be bad to run you out of town when you've been a great help around the city."
"I'll do so, Officer Jenny."
"Thank you for all the information."
"Anytime."
After bidding their short farewells, Misty said, "Do you really think Kimmy could be the one behind this, Officer Jenny?"
"Maybe so, but I'll be keeping an eye on her, though. You come by the station anytime you find anything Misty? Understand."
"Yep. I'll see you later, I have to go down to the gym. Bye!"
"Stay safe, Misty, and remember, keep a watch for clues."
"I will." Misty scampered off to the gym when she collided into a familiar friend. "Oh my gosh, sorry about that."
"It's alright."
Misty looked up and gasped. "May?"
"Long time no see, Misty."
